To tease a Caesar's appetite [HFE] Empty To tease a Caesar's appetite [HFE]

It was all rather new really, a new tactic towards the ever changing future. who would have known that the common billboard along a village wall would become obsolete? Millions of ryo spent just to receive a slap in the face. This wouldn't be the first time this happened, change. Every couple a years, approximately 10 or so, you get reality checks like so that remind you that hey, your shit is getting old, time to get up to date with the times. So, you're given a few options that mostly only captains of industry receive. Cashing out seemed to be the most easiest of options, you get your money and boom, you are a happy rich person. But those with the mind to innovate, to really play the game and bend reality, those were the ones that make it this far. When you can buy a 2,000 ryo suit and still turn a profit out of a small vendor booth in the first fiscal quarter, you can all yourself a player within this game. When you can unload your wares nationwide, and buy a 10,000 diamond bracelet at the end of the day, you can yourself the boss. When you can associate your name with the concept of monetary value, you can call yourself the titan of industry.

Within the satellite office of Sakura Corp, this being a small branch of the many Sakura Corp buildings nationwide, a figure is seen near the large window. He looks out from the glass window from the 10th floor. Looking down at all the people who showed up for tonight's gathering. The exposure, the attention, a plan well done he thought. Ganki bit his lower lip with a crooked smile, With the door still closed, the crowd reaching a considerable size, he then decides that it was time to let them in. Normally he would have his guards attend to this task by themselves, but his name was all over this, plus, Sakura Corp rarely threw public events like this. You'd have to be someone pretty special to gain entrance to normal Sakura Corp retreats. He figured he might as well show his face for a few minutes before disappearing again, like he always does. He steps away from the windows that filled the back half of his office. The view from here was astonishing, and would gain even more appraise once this village finished rebuilding itself.

Making his way down the lavish stairs, leading to the main hall, he thinks back to all his exploits. He soon finds his right hand guiding itself against marble wall lightly, the elegant gold mask in his left hand. His father would be proud of him, wherever he was; his mother too. The company taking bold new steps, building new relations with the people of these lands. Perhaps, Ganki being forced to attend the Shinobi Academy really did something good after all. Ganki still claims to deny it to this day, he was born into a wealthy family with plenty of connections. Statically speaking, Ganki was fated to reach these ranks sooner or later.

Reaching the door, finally rid of the stairs, he places the his heavy gold mask against his face, now completing his costume tht would soon be revealed to the public, once the doors were open. Body guards adorned in classic roman solider uniforms, accompany Ganki on all for sides a few feet away from him.

Finally, the doors swing open, its heavy creaking sounds echos throughout the crowd. Ganki's out was now unveiled to the public, his costume was a take on a famous dictator. What wasn't scary about a terrifying dictator. Now looking down the steps towards the crowd, he raises his hands....

"WELCOME...,", thanks to Ganki's shinobi training, he bends his voice to make it sound more intimidating for all to hear. Everyone was now permitted to enter.

Ganki's costume:

To tease a Caesar's appetite [HFE] 20191010

There were only famously two kinds of people at a party. There was the host, the one who planned and executed, the one who took upon himself or herself the bills and the headaches. the one who probably hoped to gain something from throwing such an extravagant event and hoped to celebrate a hidden or clear agenda. A birthday party, a wedding, a christening, a promotion, almost any celebration could merit a party and it consisted of the host telling the world, in one way or another, that they were happy or that it was in their best interest to celebrate an occasion.

And then there were the guests, those fortunate enough to be invited by the host to share in the celebrations. The hosts usually chose their guests carefully, people who would sincerely partake in the merriment, people who would be useful as close allies, people who would make the party a brighter affair by their loud laughs, genial personalities and quick wit. It said a lot about the host by what kind of guests he invited. It also left said host almost entirely mysterious if the invitation was open and extended to all.

In every party however, there was always a third category of people, a category that remained unnoticed until something went wrong. And today, Akihana was a part of that third invisible category: the caterers.

Upon their arrival at Waterfall, the party had split up to better transport the carts of food. After all, a group of people lugging carts would hardly be deemed acceptable for the grand event that was the Sakura Corporation's Halloween Ball. Instead, Seiichi and Eliwood had made their way towards the back entrance to deliver the goods well in advance. Maku had vanished quickly too, and without word as was his style. If the blonde had to venture a guess, he was equally likely to be inspecting the on site kitchens as he was to be drinking and mingling with guests. The fact that they might not be allowed to do the latter had never really stopped the man she knew, but it did hinder her slightly where she stood, still encased in her bright red cape, the only hint of her costume the garland of fresh spring flowers around her forehead.

Quite a crowd had gathered to see the events, people in stunning costumes as far as her golden eyes could see. It was both overwhelming and reassuring. There were just enough people here to go unnoticed, she knew. The best way to lose herself had always been in the middle of a crowd. Her simple red wool cloak neither stood out nor did her warm topaz gaze attract any undue attention. In fact, she was truly invisible at one of the side doors, waiting to be let in with the rest of the crowd because she lacked the confidence to walk up to the guards and identify herself as of the catering committee.

No, Akihana refused to do anything that would draw undue attention to herself.

The huge doors open like the lazy maw of a giant beast and the crowd pours through, an authoritative, booming voice welcoming the guests. Despite herself, the blonde can hear the chakra enhancing the vocal chords behind the announcement. As much as she didn't wish to intrude, as much as she had hoped that she would not see a sign of the host, the kunoichi was almost certain i was him behind the spectacle. Ganki Sakura ahd always been a man of a certain taste, and that taste was apparent in the figure that stood atop the grand staircase like some kind of deity, ushering people through the doors of his kingdom.

"Do you think that's Mr. Sakura?" A pair of passing girls giggled near Akihana

"The old one or the hot one?"

"I don't know, both are pretty hot."

A small, sad smile appeared across the kunoichi's face as the two girls disappeared through the door. Ganki didn't like being called Mr. Sakura.

Or at least he hadn't about ten years ago. Right now, Akihana was in no position to assume what Ganki Sakura liked or did not like. He was no longer the teenager who had seen a struggling mother and offered her a job. He wasn't even the strict ANBU Captain who never quite learned to trust her because of her priors.

No, today he was just their client, and he was dealing with Maku. The captain of industry had no reason to even be aware of her presence here today.

Pulling her hood more securely over her head, the Akari followed the throngs of people towards the main ballroom, hoping her muted chakra would be well and truly lost amidst all the bright personalities that entered through these doors."

To tease a Caesar's appetite [HFE] Empty Re: To tease a Caesar's appetite [HFE]

The crowd flooded the entrance, every ghoul, ghost, and goblin you could think of attended this social gathering with gleeful intent. The Caesar nods to all the oncoming traffic, his loyal guards keeping watch for the comfort of their leader. Ganki Sakura was a very important figure, the guests and sycophants knew that as well. But the real kicker of it all, was that the guards were actually protecting Ganki from himself. HIs mind fixated on that of only one thing, women. Can you really blame a person born into a family with near limitless resources, catering to every want; for their was no need to need. He's a product of his environment, a child of privilege and status. Some could say he was doomed from the start, while at the same time wishing they too could share his fate.

He continues standing there, posing for the crowd to see, embracing the attention he was given. It had been a while since the public witness a Sakura, Ganki to be precise, in the flesh. In the mix of it all, he finally turns his gaze towards the direction of the main hall, joining the flow of the unyielding traffic while safely being escorted. He wish he could have stayed a bit more, but blocking the receiving area could cause unwanted commotion and chaos. He could tell that from the looks of the costume, the work that was done, that this might be a night well remembered. He smirks at the thought that he might a full carriage after the night was over. Might? Oh no, he will, he was of course the man of the hour no doubt. The man of the hour who in fact was giving away an obscenely amount of money to the winner of the costume contest, cash.

Moments later, he is seen partaking the wine, his face bare for all to see. His strong blue eyes, his bladed brown hair visible for the ladies to bare witness too. The theme of the party also carried over to the cuisine. The fish teeming with olive oil, the warm honey bread, the olives that accompanied every dish, and of course the red wine. The very, very sweet, red wine. "Ok, gentlemen, I'll be back. I need to pay a visit to the kitchen. I've had enough of this wine. I keep this up, and I know I'm gonna become a diabetic. This shit is too god damn sweet", he sees a busy waiter passing by with a half full tray of wine glasses. Ganki nonchalantly places the unwanted half empty glass of wine onto the decorated silver platter held above the waiter's shoulder. As much as the guards advised against his departure, Ganki leaves his company behind, in pursuit of the kitchen. he playfully fumbles with his gold mask. The robes and jewelry really complemented it. The mask was really the center piece of it all. Perhaps he should join the contest? How bad would it look for the host to win his won contest?

It was a good thing Sakura Corp kept a few Kumo brand liquor bottles in storage. They were used for promotion purposes, and welcoming new hires and interns. The work force all had Ganki to thank for that, this now common practice wasn't so common until Ganki became the acting CEO. He couldn't remember those first few days as acting CEO, is father was sooooo pissed. But, there was no cure like the passage of time.

Walking alone down the long corridor, the loud steps from his gladiator style sandals echoing within he halls, he reaches a wide arch that led into the kitchen. The food carts and such, which of course was filled with bottles of red wine, hugged the wall. "Ugh..., more of this shit... I wonder if these bottles can fit inside the guest's bags or coats? Hell, I'll get someone to fill the damn gutters with red wine just to get rid of this shit. Welp, this is what ya get Ganks for out sourcing" at the end of his monologue, he enters the kitchen to see the staff hard at work. That was, until the they saw him walk in, the utensils were now on hold, very much as the facial expressions Ganki was receiving. It was as if time stopped, it completely caught Ganki off guard. You gotta hand it to them,

"Oh, Don't mind me folks, keep at it. I'm just here for the real drinks", he clicks his tongue while winking at the crowd at the same time. He is now seen towards the back of the kitchen, staring at the wall of many assortments of liquor. The boxes of red wine were on the left side of him, completely out of his choosing.

To tease a Caesar's appetite [HFE] Empty Re: To tease a Caesar's appetite [HFE]

Fortunately for Akihana, the mere act of seeing the kitchen for the first time was enough to make ehr forget any reservation that had welled up inside the woman earlier. Truly, with this many things going on all at once and so many people managing them, the task at hand would require her utmost attention. She spied the carts of foods Seiichi and Eliwood had brought in and quickly moved to address a few of the temporarily commissioned staffers, forming them into a line and teaching them how to unload the food and desserts without ruining the decorations. Next she moved to the hottest area of the kitchen where several industrial sized ovens were gleaming and ready to go. Requesting at least six be operational at all times to ensure every meal leaving the kitchen was warm, Akihana moved to the remainder to work out different sittings for what needed to be baked on the spot and what needed a double boiler method.

Once the ovens had been seen too, the blonde made her way to the giant freezer, easily bigger than the current flat she and the Hayato brothers shared. Stepping inside the cold container easily, her red cloak still wrapped securely around her, she moved to examine the cold cuts, the ice creams, the jellies left to set, the icing roses hardening to maintain their shape and finally, the chilled drinks. Someone had handed her a clipboard and pen earlier and since then, the kunoichi had simply been making lists and notes. It didn't even matter that most of this wasn't her job but a task left to the site manager who was mysteriously absent. Akihana had always believed that if she was there, she would do her best to help.

After taking stock of the freezer, the kunoichi made her way to the storage area, checking on dry ingredients that would need to be mixed and crafted on the spot. While the theme of the party certainly favored a roman atmosphere complete with complimentary dishes served out front, there was almost no item of consumption missing from the vast kitchens of the event. Should a guest on a whim ask for a particular cereal brand served only in Konohagakure or a ramen flavour famous only in the coastal villages of Lightning country, they would not be disappointed. Clearly the host had paid money to ensure everyone's dreams came true tonight.

The blonde tried not to focus too much on the lemoncakes that represented a village she had long left behind. There was a time when she used to make batches of it weekly with help from the village genin.... But that was all in the past now.

Consciously turning away from the now boxed recipe, the golden eyed medic continued to take inventory, completely missing their client's entrance into the kitchen. By the time she emerged from the storage ear, everyone had returned to work and the blonde was non the wiser. that was until a tiny blue haired girl in a hat that seemed so tall for her, Akihana wondered how she was even standing up, came to the older woman.

"I n-need b-brandy, for the sauce," she stuttered, her matching blue eyes darting towards the back of the kitchen where Akihana assumed said brandy was. "I ca-can't go in there. H-he's in th-there."

In hindsight, it would have been better to ask who was in there. Perhaps taken a minute to assure the girl that she needn't be so nervous. It would have certainly been a good idea to look at the faces of the rest of the staff, the look of admiration mixed with intimidation would have given Akihana some kind of clue as to what she was about to encounter. As it was, the former ninja's butterscotch gaze landed reassuringly on the girl, patting her before mouthing a soft "I'll get it, you wait here".

And before anyone could stop her, the kunoichi took quick strides towards the back of the kitchen where all the alcohol not meant for tonight's festivities was stored.

The Akari didn't realize it at first, her eyes only scanning the wall of liquor for the brandy she needed, only to collide with the back of a very familiar costume. And even more familiar than the ostentatious garb sported by the sole heir to Sakura Corp was the back of his head. The brown, bladed strands rested exactly as she remembered them from behind an ANBU mask when he had been her captain a lifetime ago.

It was too late to hide her own presence, or to disguise herself. Her red hood had fallen upon her shoulders some time ago, Akihana not feeling the need to cover her radiant gold hair in a kitchen setting where no one knew her. Eyes that had turned permanently gold with intense training now looked downwards as she cleared her throat. She could do this, just take the bottle of brandy and get out.

Now she had to rely on only one ability she possessed: Being unremarkable enough to not be remembered.

"Umm, I just need a bottle of brandy,' the kunoichi managed, moving to the other side of the wall and trying to figure out which bottle to extract from the dozens displayed in front of her. "For the sauce," she added hastily in case their client thought she meant to get herself a drink. "My apologies for the disturbance, Sir" she finished, reaching out to choose a dark green bottle that looked promising.

"Domestic..., or import", the young man couldn't decide. What he did know, was that he couldn't take much more of the wine. His eyes still scanning the wall of assorted liquor without a care in the world, until, he was bumped into from behind. His stance caused him to jolt forward quite a bit, since he was flat footed. "Whoah!...", he instinctively barked. Taking a quick glance behind him while stumbling, getting a glimpse of the uniform. Lucky he managed to keep himself from falling over, and colliding into the rack of bottles. That would have been an embarrassing moment of he would have crashed into the rack of bottles. His suit would have been stained beyond repair. He'd even be forced to walked back outside to the main hall, only to e gawked at by the upper class echelon. And the women? like anyone would try picking up women while reeking of alcohol. That alone was enough to tick him off. His lips now pursed from the frustration of it all. Who could have bumped into him? All this space around him, and he managed to still get knocked over. He sighs heavily while listening to the feminine voice. The accent he recognized as someone being raised in the south, the leaf village to be exact. Ganki would know this accent from his business trips down there.

Turning around with a heavy sigh, his eyes opening as he was ready to chastise the person almost responsible for ruining his suit. He pauses mid way, getting a good look at the blond, he starts jabbing his hand towards the lady about twenty to forty times. HIs actions no longer gave off the irritated guise, he could have sworn he'd seen the clumsy female before. The accent he was well versed with, but the blond, well, he's seen his fair share. His mind flickering through each file, comparing her face to the many before.

"Hold on..., have we met? You're face is sooo familiar. I cant put my finger on it, I swear I've seen you befo-", it finally hit him. His mind tuning out all the background noise of the kitchen upon realization. HIs eyes widen, nodding in affirmation. "I always wondered where you'd have gone. That day we first met, you looked so lost... hmmm, but I knew there was more to you", he thinks back to the time the two first met in the Konoha Hot Springs. The blonde massaging his shoulders with powerful grips of a warm soft hand. HIs form enjoying the soothing comfort while he himself laid down on a soft table. The two really did have a good time, his toes even curled while enjoying the flashback. "The time we missed seeing each other, none of that matters, I'm just glad that you finally got a real job", His steel blue eyes looking directly into hers, in truth, he longed for a reunion liked this.

"So, Reihana Akari, where have you been up too? I didn't know you liked cooking? You're full of surprises", what were the odds of seeing someone like here around here? "Oh yeah, let me get that brandy for you!", happily searching through the shelves looking for the bottle of choice.

To tease a Caesar's appetite [HFE] Empty Re: To tease a Caesar's appetite [HFE]

Akihana watched, almost panic stricken, as the aristocrat tried to place her. She had hoped against hope that she would not be recognizable. Yet it had been a foolish one, he had once been Captain of the Kumogakure ANBU forces, it was his business to remember every recruit that worked under him. The former kunoichi visibly shrank at his scrutiny despite his perfectly casual tone and expression. He didn't even seem all that angry at the accidental bump, merely trying to figure out where he had seen her last.

Probably in a cloud of destruction the night Echo Uchiha had fallen, and the world as they had known it ended. She must have been about the only ANBU who had failed to report in a month later, and she had not been fortunate enough to perish in that attack.

Finally, something clicked, and the benefactor of the entire affair smiled. He looked genuinely pleased to see her which baffled Akihana to no end but at least he wasn't angry. She could cling to that and make her peace with what she had done to him. Perhaps like so many others, Ganki Sakura too had let go of the past. He may just be glad to see a fellow comrade now.

"So, Reihana Akari, where have you been up too? I didn't know you liked cooking? You're full of surprises"

And that was when it sunk in, he didn't remember her at all. Or at least not her given name. Did he know a Reihana Akari or was he simply ministering her own name. His piercing blue eyes and inviting smile suggesting - as much as she didn't want to admit it- that he was indeed thinking of someone else. She, Akihana, certainly didn't deserve that level of intimacy and companionship directed her way. Not by him.

Perhaps not by anybody ever again.

The only man who had ever looked at her like that was now dead, and he had taken that part of her life with him to the grave. She was simply Akihana now. And being Akihana, she couldn't just nod and smile to escape Ganki's ire. The painful twang of honesty twisted inside her, forcing her to correct the assumption.

"My apologies sir," she spoke softly, not quite meeting his gaze, her golden eyes downcast in shame and regret. "It's Akihana, Akihana Akari... Fourth Wolf Platoon..." She was the only survivor of that ANBU cell, and the least deserving out of all four of them. "You might Bremen my son, A-Arata." Her voice quivered at the mention of her son's name, the pain of his demise still fresh and stinging. But hopefully it would jog the CEO's memory. After all, her child had always been the most remarkable thing about her.
