Why is a Poor Person Giving Away His Food? [IO] Empty Why is a Poor Person Giving Away His Food? [IO]

Fri Nov 24, 2017 1:36 pm
Mission:

Satoru exits the complex which holds his apartment. The day is new and the people are all waking up. Why is Satoru out and about this early? He's hungry, that's why. With little money to his name because of a lack of tasks for him to complete which award him with ryo, he finds himself purchasing the cheapest consumables he is able to afford. These are grapefruits and powdered sugar. Combined, these foods work well as sustenance. The little money which Satoru has on his person is enough to pick up one grapefruit and half a pound of sugar; breakfast and lunch in one purchase. After this, he must simply make some sort of small cash to pay for dinner, the same two items. This life is not kind but it fulfills its purpose as Satoru is here in Hoshigakure.

He makes his way towards the shops in the village. This area is quite the slum so food is inexpensive. If for some reason, Satoru is compelled to give away the food he is going to purchase for himself, it must be for an amount of money greater than what he pays. But what could cause this to happen? A church does stand nearby. Maybe, in some act, Satoru and some others might be compelled to donate with the prospect of splitting whatever reward is given. Now that's a means of making free money.

Why is a Poor Person Giving Away His Food? [IO] Empty Re: Why is a Poor Person Giving Away His Food? [IO]

Revan threw open the doors of his modest mansion and strode out into the street, his usual casual outfit of a crimson dress shirt the color of dried blood, thrown haphazardly over a royal purple t-shirt, a pair of simple tan pants and a pair of leather shoes completing the ensemble, not something that screamed 'I have money' but certainly not something someone poor would wear. Once again Revan found himself forced to perform a low ranked mission in order to supply his men with the resources they needed, once again. This time Ren had picked up a simple mission to donate some supplies to a church, it was a little odd to be asked to give away resources like this, but Revan suspected that it was either an effort to infiltrate the church and find out if there is anything untoward going on inside its ranks; or more likely, the church was a front and he was delivering resources to some sort of underworld dealer that worked for the Hogokage or one of his subordinates. The other option, of course, was that this was quite literally just a delivery of resources as a donation to the church, but that would be absurd considering the fact that he'd been told to keep his affiliation with the village's ninja a secret during this mission. With a sigh and a subtle shrug of his shoulders he strode down the street and through the city before dropping off his package to the church.

The Chokyoshi's mission was simple and very easy. Deliver supplies to the poor to get a good image for ninja kind. They have a good reason to fear ninja, some can very powerful, maybe even powerful enough to take on a whole village. Tsume still didn't understand why they hated ninja so much, they still saved them from danger almost every day. Alas, Tsume couldn't change the thoughts of people. Tsume was caring two boxes in his arms while Hakucho held a box by a string, showing off his strength as a bird. "Sorry, we got stuck with another easy mission." Tsume apologized to Hakucho. The winged companion didn't enjoy super easy mission, he liked a challenge. "On the bright side, we are helping other people." Haku just shrieked. "Hey, no need to be rude!" Tsume snapped back.

They arrived at the destination, a church. It seemed other people had already made some stops here with supplies, so he just dropped them off with the others. They bowed to the people that thanked them. "It was no trouble at all." And then they left. Tsume looked at his buddy and was resting on his shoulder. "Was that so bad?" Haku just looked the other way, embarrassed. That made Tsume chuckle. "No need to play the tough bird act with me." One the way home, they collected the money, and now Tsume thought it was about time that he got some more weapons with the money he has earned over the past few weeks. That got Hakucho and Tsume excited to go to the ninja shop.

Why is a Poor Person Giving Away His Food? [IO] Empty Re: Why is a Poor Person Giving Away His Food? [IO]

Arriving in the slums because of a rumor was a daily occurrence for Miyamoto since he left the hospital. There was always some sort of petty crime or other foul play to take care of. The slums had become more or less apart of the refugee population only as hoshi born citizens moved into the village to get away from the riff raf. However Miyamoto having grown up a refugee, knew what it was like to be in place like this. However, under his master, Kyousuke he learned how to better himself and raise his status, and when he became Kage it became more apparent that Hoshi shinobi were going to become accepted as they would be apart of the village and be like police and military.

Hoshi still remained very civilized and free from tyranny still, which was good. Now for the rumor he was pursuing today, it seemed as though a group of boys had been feeding the poor at a local church in the slums. Having his own run ins with the good god fearing church folk, he learned to be wary of them all. But the deed itself was worthy of being seen as holy in itself. However, he was sure that the boys responsible were actually on a mission and not just doing it out of the good of their hearts. He wanted to investigate. His answer came to him in the form of being able to see the three, consisting of the two he sparred with days prior and one other. The large group thanked them as they handed food out for all hungry mouths until two decided to take their leave after some time. Miyamoto sighed as he spied a food stall that had beggars near it, he jumped down and casually strode up to the stall and offered above asking price in ryo for the mans food. With an eager expression Miyamoto instructed the man to feed the poor until his cart was empty. The man though obviously confused sighed and nodded. Miyamoto then whistled loud near his location and the church as he let the crowd know that there was also free food at the stall.

Eat up, make sure your bellies are full...Hoshi is the land of the people, eat so you can contribute to make our home better.” He said like a well versed man despite his age.

Satoru stands and watches as multiple people perform the same act which he has been thinking about. One particular example seemed to stand out from the others. This is the one in which the person who is doing the donating gives a verbal expression. This expression seems quite heartfelt and sincere. He mentions the village of Hoshigakure itself, putting it in a light of good grace, calling it "the land of the people". Such a foreign concept to Satoru...

He adds this piece of information to those things he contemplates when trying to figure out the nature of this village's social functions. While doing this, he carries out the donating of his single grapefruit and his half pound of sugar to the nearest church/orphanage. Contemplation has become his food.

Paying shinobi to get food to the poor instead of just providing the poor with money is very questionable. Perhaps Akihana wanted to keep the poor from gaining power, questionable choices.

Approved.
