Takamitsu's Transformation

Takamitsu lied with his eyes closed in the Academy field's wet grass, wind lightly gliding across the landscape and across the academy's exterior. He wasn't caught up in thoughts about his brother or father today, he instead focused on the image of his instructor he had in his mind, trying to imagine every detail of his face. When he finally opened his eyes, he gazed lazily up at the clouds, hoping to rest a little longer, gaining any amount of stamina that he lost from the constant physical training he was partaking in before. When he finally did come up to his feet, he didn't attempt to use the jutsu, instead rhythmically repeating the hand signs that he had been memorizing all morning. Takamitsu had learned from the incident with his Clone Technique process and knew that trying to brute force the jutsu would likely only result in frustration and injury. Once he finally felt comfortable with the hand signs, he began a Zen-like concentration with his hands freely falling to his sides. To anybody observing, it'd look like almost absurd, but Takamitsu had a reason. He wanted to maintain complete focus as he used the jutsu, figuring it to be the only way to make the quickest progress. Finally, he opened his eyes and began to form the series of hand signs, Dog → Boar → Ram, and channeled his chakra to changing his form. When the smoke was cleared and his transformation was revealed, it almost seemed perfect, but Takamitsu knew the difference. Everything about the transformation felt wrong, from the hands being slightly misproportioned to the height being a few inches too short, this was a failed transformation.

It took several minutes and transformations for Takamitsu's instructor to finally come out of the Academy to assist him. "If you spent more time studying and less time asleep, you'd have passed my class already." He calmly said, alerting the focusing boy. "I can figure this jutsu out, and then I'll be ready for the genin exam... I just need some time."
"You don't have time to spare, Takamitsu, the exam is approaching fast, and if you don't know this jutsu, you'll fail." Takamitsu, curious as to what his instructor was planning, turned around to look at him.
"What did you come out here for?"
"I think I've figured out your problem. It isn't in the amount of chakra you're producing like it was with the clones, and it's not with where you're directing your chakra. You aren't maintaining a clear focus on the form while emitting a constant, steady stream of chakra."
Takamitsu stood in silence, thinking. Although he wouldn't admit it, the image was a factor that he didn't consider, due to the fact that he hadn't performed a jutsu akin to the transformation technique before. "Of course." The instructor added, beginning to turn towards the Academy. "You'd know that if you were awake during the lesson." As his instructor walked away, Takamitsu let out a small huff as he performed the hand signs, transforming into a mirror image of his instructor's form. "You'd know that if you were awake during the lesson." Takamitsu said sarcastically, dispelling the transformation as he turned to head inside.
