Lightning Things (Private, Kozan, NK)

Ashur felt the ninja grabbing him and knew he was a goner, but he knew how to fight! He would just weave hand signs he thought, and do a substitution! He then realized his left hand had been grabbed, and the stage was clear of things he could substitute with anyway. He sighed, and was slammed against the grown feeling idiotic in every way. He just got bested once again, and this wouldn't matter to him if it weren't for someone who was also a Genin. He had come so far only to be against the ground again. He was then pinned against the ground with his arms behind his back. He sighed, and remembered the first fight being far worse when he fought Cloud. Cloud had completely humiliated him beyond what he imagined. He had been begging for his life to someone not wanting to take it. What a loser he thought to himself. He then heard Kozan giving advice, and cheered up a bit. He thought he was going to get slapped with a "I win, and I am narcissistic!" He felt this was his favorite Genin he had meet so far.
"I never would have expected to lose. I had always thought with all that training alone I would become stronger, but not being able to know where to put my strength is the true issue. Can you release me now?"
Ashur was still oddly happy that he learned something important. He needed to learn how to fight!

Kozan sighed, standing up and releasing Ashur. He never dropped his guard, as he had known of that trick since the early days of the academy. The beaten one would pretend to give up, then when the foolish victor dropped his caution, he would be beaten senseless by a surprise attack from the seemingly downed foe. No indeed, Kozan would not be fooled by such an easy trick. However, he would let go of Ashur, returning his hands and feet to a neutral position. Had he really won? Kozan himself was surprised at this, considering the fact that Ashur was probably just a more powerful ninja than he.
It was then that he realized that he hadn't answered one of Ashur's questions. How rude of him... hopefully, the boy hadn't noticed, or had forgotten during Kozan's quick takedown. This meant that Kozan had better respond quick, lest something bad happen. Before Ashur could speak another word, Kozan would begin.
"I honestly didn't expect to win either. And no, I don't actually know many jutsu other than the ones they taught me at the academy. Do you know any? My elemental affinity if lightning, by the way." Lightning... just like his aunt. It was a personal point of shame for Kozan that he seemed to be built to follow in Misaki's footsteps. Was his fate to be decrepit, like her? No... he'd make his own path in life, whether his powers would be like his aunt's or not. What was interesting, however, was the fact that in this fight with Ashur, he'd felt his own power growing.

Ashur was released, and began to get a sour taste in his mouth as if he had done something wrong. He wanted to apologize to the man very badly, but realized that doing so would tarnish his name. That is if he even had one. He began to want to speak, but heard the ninja go first. He then heard a question about if he knew any other jutsu, and smiled. He suddenly felt a lot better realizing how far he had came already!
"Oh, that is a wonderful question!"
Ashur pointed at the ninja with a smile.
"I know only one, but it looks powerful!"
He took a few steps back, and made sure the area was clear. He then began to kneading katon chakra in his chest like he had done all the other times he used this basic jutsu. He then made a half tiger hand sign and released a cone of flames from his mouth. Ashur then wiped his mouth as if he had just eaten food, and gotten something on his lips, then looked over at Kozan.
"Pretty cool right? I bet I can do it again!"
He began to knead katon chakra in his chest, and suddenly became very light headed. He knew he should have never tried this! Every ninja knows what happens when you over do yourself! He then weaved a half tiger hand sign sloppily and his whole body began to shake. He tried to spit out fire, but nothing but a cloud of ash came from his mouth. His eyes teared up in pain, and he felt as if he had smoked ten packs of cigarettes. After the cloud was released in front of him he would fall onto the ground in pain. He would then lay there coughing violently for a few minutes, then look at Kozan wondering if he should get help or not.

All in all, though, from what Kozan had just seen, Ashur would make an excellent comrade. He may be a littly ditzy, but in the end, he seemed reliable enough... and stronger, too. If they were to team up, Ashur could learn how to fight, and Kozan would learn how to get stronger. After all, was that not his sole goal in life? To get more powerful? He had witnessed a whole village fall and an entire lifestyle of life pass away as a result of that power... he needed to be ready to make such changes to the world as well if that time ever came.
However, it seemed as if Ashur was about to show Kozan the workings of a jutsu. Kozan focused slightly, looking intently at the other boy. Handseals, chakra and intent... it was all there. Yeah, this guy knew at least a little of what he was doing. He watched as the fire poured forth from the guy's mouth, scorching a section of the earth off to the side of where they now stood. Pretty good... by this point, it was obvious to Kozan that the boy had a fire nature. Kozan didn't know anything of fire jutsu, his own nature being lightning, but he could appreciate the value of elemental diversity. It was good to have a well-rounded team.
Sadly, before he could suggest that they become steadfast training partners, working together to go forth in jolly cooperation, Ashur decided to do something a little foolish. Apparently, he had choked on his own jutsu. Kozan hoped that he would never have to shock himself with his own lightning, though that seemed to be pretty humiliating. Well, having just beat down Ashur, Kozan felt a little obligated to help him. Besides... even though he tended to try and avoid other kids, he felt that he liked Ashur. There was something about the boy that told him that they were destined for some kind of team. Of course, for that, they'd need one other person, but those weren't hard to find.
"Don't stress yourself!" He spoke, and moved quickly, attempting to get Ashur to his feet. He pounded him on the back a bit, it seemed that he had inhaled quite a bit of smoke. There was, naturally only one place that he could think to go at this point... the hospital.
"Come on, we'll get you to the emergency room... or something." His voice, which didn't seem to be filled with concern, was no indication of his actual consternation for the other boy.

Ashur now knew he would never become a smoker unless he was being evil to his lungs. He was helped by Kozan to his feet, and the ninja had helped tremendously by pounding his back a bit. He felt the rest of the smoke released, and knew he had screwed up pretty badly. He then heard the word hospital being said by Kozan as he was on his feet, and turned pale. He hated hospitals, medical rooms, and everything of that sorts. He got cheerful seeing as the ash and smoke he had released, was mostly out of his system. He then felt as if he was drawing in too much unwanted attention.
"I feel I am good to stay away from hospitals. I'm all good."
He made a very cheerful smile to try to sell it off better.
"Want to go get some ramen or something? I have some spare ryo I can use. I feel like Kumogakure is a bit too crazy to go alone anyway, we might want to stick together. We might learn a thing or two."
Ashur held up a wad of in character ryo, that was for plot, and smiled. He had lots of money!

Did this guy have some kind of weird medical secret that he wanted to hide from the hospital records? Maybe it had something to do with those wings... Kozan wasn't one for the artistic, so he wasn't about to go "your wings are beautiful". Besides, it would sound kind of gay, perhaps. Still, he wasn't averse to that kind of thing. He could understand if there was something he didn't want the village to know... he himself was still trying to hide his own heritage. He gave Ashur a quick look-over to make sure he was really alright. Well, it did seem that way.
"Sure, I'm feeling a little hungry."
With that, he'd go out with Ashur.

Ashur watched as the guy complimented his wings, and Ashur began to think he was gay then quickly dismissed this idea seeing how strongly heterosexual Kozan seemed. He then saw Kozan looking him up and down and took it as Kozan checking him out. Ashur felt grossed, and weird, thinking that Kozan was gay. Ashur panicked thinking that Kozan thought he was asking him out on a date. The child began to keep his distance from Kozan, and nodded at the remark. He might want to rethink his training partners next time.
