It was time for Kozan to realized the simple fact that he was just simply too weak to really take the genin exams yet. Maybe with a bit more training... In that case, better to start hunting for things to do. Training a new jutsu seemed like a good idea... sure, he didn't need these things to become genin, but at the very least, it would increase his power level. He headed out on the day before the day before school started again, in a hurry to get things done before the school week began again. Classes were so lame, and he could barely stand them.
The white haired boy lounged around the training grounds, looking for something to do. After stretching and jogging in place for a bit, he proceeded to get bored. So bored, in fact, that he walked off to the library, something that he didn't do often. Of course, the library was a boring, quiet place, but at least here, he could have some idea of what to go out and do next. He could withstand a few minutes in this musty, stupid building first. All it had was books and stupid librarians, with their ancient attitudes and such.
In the end, he ended up looking at a book of basic jutsu. He flipped through the pages spontaneously, not really paying attention to what he was doing until his finger landed on a section titled "Mark seal". Hey, this seemed useful and easy to learn. After all, it was just a mark of chakra that the book said had "multiple applications". What these were, the book didn't exactly say, but Kozan felt that it was something he could probably use in the future. Well, better to just get started then. Kozan skimmed over the book thing, and headed out of the library.
The village was a bit warmer today, and the air was bright and clear. The whole world seemed to be smiling, except for Kozan. He wasn't paying attention to the weather, or to the people or even the birds singing in the trees. He was on his way back to the training grounds, ready to get started, and eager to get this jutsu mastered. It was really easy! All he had to do was find a subject. On his way to the training grounds, he found a stray dog sleeping in a die alley. Perfect, this would be his subject for the mark seal.
Kozan put his finger on the dog's flank, and focused his chakra. As a fuuinjutsu, he knew, the mark seal didn't require any sort of handseal sequence, like the other jutsu he knew did. Kozan wondered why, but not for long. He needed to focus on placing the mark seal on this foul canine. Why the custodians let mongrels like this lie around in the streets he would never know. At any rate, he had already bypassed the initial stages, going right into the way of channeling his chakra through his system.
It felt like cool fire was rushing through his finger and out of his body, like many jutsu did, but this one was different. Was it because it was a fuuin? At any rate, a seal briefly appeared on the dog's side, then disappeared. Success! Kozan stood up, stretching. Fantastic, now he had actually done something that day. He felt like kicking the dog out of sheer nothingness, but realized how worthless that would be. He sighed and started weaving his way back home the "scenic" route, weaving his way in and out of streets just for humor.
