Mission Topic: A Simple Escort

Senba was assigned a new mission, but one that he probably
would not enjoy at all. The task that was assigned to him “An elderly man is
asking for ninja assistance/escort to the sand village. He is extremely old and
requires a ninja to help carry his things and protect him from the wild if
necessary. The trip there will take at least three days because the man
requires several breaks to rest and recuperate.” This did not excite Senba at
all, but it was for ryo so he could not complain. He strapped on his ninja gear
and headed to the village gates. The old man was there waiting for him. Senba
arrived and said “Sir I am the one that will be
traveling with you today.” The old man smiled and said “You are just a youngster. I do not mean to offend, but
could you really protect me if anything went wrong.” Senba smiled and
said “I may look young but I am tough. You forgot the
fact that I am a leaf ninja, and we are renowned for our strength.” The
old man chuckled and said “Very well, and all you
have to do is help me with this bag.” Senba picked up the bag, and
quickly figured out it was not heavy like he thought it would be.


First Day


They walked the trail for a while and Senba was getting
really bored. The old man did not talk much, but Senba did not mind. He would
rather someone who did not talk much over someone who talked too much. The old
man said “I need a break young one.” Senba
nodded and they sat down for a break. The old man then started talking “I am not as strong as I used to be. I used to be a wood
worker cutting down trees and such. It was fun to watch the trees fall, but of
course it was dangerous to some extent.” Senba actually like hearing
older people talk, and respected them highly. Their knowledge of the past
thrilled him, and he continued listening. They talked for a while until night
fall.


Second Day


They walked for a while chatting back and forth with each
other. Senba got along with the older gentlemen pretty well. They stopped to
take another break and drink water. He really did not mind the breaks, but he
did not like taking long breaks. He did enjoy listening and talking to him, but
he wanted to get home as soon as possible. They got up and started walking
along the trail. Senba asked “If you do not mind me
asking. Why are you taking this trip?” The old man smiled and said “I have family there, and I am probably going to end up
moving over there soon. I do not want to admit it, but I am getting old and it
is getting hard to take care of myself.” They stopped for another break
before night fall and went to sleep.


Third Day


They woke up and were on the trail again. Senba could see
the village getting closer and closer. The old man said “I do appreciate it a lot, and you were a wonderful chaperone. I thank
you.” Senba smiled and said “It is no problem
sir.” They reached the village gates and handed over the bags to the man’s
nephew. They thanked him and so did the old gentlemen. Senba then went back to
the village as fast as possible eager to get home.
