Jounin Exam: Gathering Information Empty Jounin Exam: Gathering Information

Wed Jul 11, 2012 10:24 pm
When Nietzsche was given his third and final mission he was surprised; he did not except this. He had expected maybe a battle or something, but not infiltrating Kumogakure and snatching war plans from right under an ANBU captain's nose. Regardless he knew he had to do it-there was no going back. Following his map he made his way to Kumogakure. He had left his headband in the leaf so as to have no chance of being found out by the Kumogakure ninja. Upon reaching the gates he entered under the guise of his neighbor back in Kirigakure who was a merchant-it would be the perfect disguise for now. Nietzsche made his way to the main governmental buildings. Seeing as he was in the guise of a merchant he needed to apply for a permit to pedal his goods so he aroused no suspicion when he walked in. That was when his act truly began. Approaching the sign up desk he started ranting about how he heard men down at the pub plotting to kill the Raikage. Almost instantly ANBU were all around him and they escorted him out. They probably smelled the strong scent of sake that Nietzsche had practically bathed in before entering the governmental building. The ANBU clearly smelled it and put him off as a drunk, but oddly enough they went to investigate the pub after having asked Nietzsche some questions, which Nietzsche responded to in the most drunk way possible.

Now was the time for phase two of the plan. Nietzsche ditched the sake soaked clothes and quickly transformed into one of the ANBU who had thrown him out of the building. The ANBU he took the form of was one with a boar mask. Two large tusks protruded out of the mask as he walked back into the government building. He made his way to the ANBU captains room after having gone down a few wrong hallways he arrived. Knocking on the door Nietzsche called out in the ANBU he had imitated voice: “Captain I have an urgent message from the Raikage himself. May I come in?” The door swung open and Nietzsche walked in closing the door firmly behind him. He then began his faux report: “Sir, it seems the time for battle has come at last. The Raikage has mobilized the ANBU. You are to report to the to the Raikage immediately and provide backup-though I highly doubt he will need it. I have been ordered to take the battle plans to the elders for review; you know how picky they are about their battles with oversight and all.” With that Nietzsche stood ready for the ANBU captain’s response. He assumed a relaxed stance, but underneath the relaxed façade he was ready to spring into action. He stood about six feet from the captain, which he hoped would be enough to defend against any attack should the captain see through his rouse.

Jounin Exam: Gathering Information Empty Re: Jounin Exam: Gathering Information

The newest ANBU captain, Taki as he was called, was sitting inside of his office area. Things had seemed quiet since the last attack by Konohagakure no Sato, but there was still much to worry about. Things were barely stable and it seemed as though they might take revenge on Konohagakure, although the Raikage seemed to have different plans for the village. There were quick reports of the Jounin Exams going on and part of the test was to make the Jounin go gather sensitive information. Obviously to avoid possible political conflicts over making future Jounin actually complete the mission, they had been informed to provide fake documents in their offices and to leave everything with their respective Kages. He already had fake battle plans and fake information to tell the jounin if he succeeded. They were also instructed to fight if deemed that the future jounin had not done a good enough stealth job.

One of his ANBU entered the building and mentioned something about the Raikage mobilizing the ANBU, which was believable, but in most cases he'd be the one in charge of taking battle plans to the elders or Raikage. This was most likely the possible future Jounin, his orders were to make sure the young man would understand that things didn't always work at first. Even though this plan could work, there was a chance it would fail. He needed to go along with the plan and act like he knew nothing but still show that things sometimes failed. "Really now? Which elder told you this? Tenka?" he asked calmly, as if to just casually make sure of which elder it was. Tenka however was not an elder and was a mere Academy Teacher in Kumogakure. He acknowledged that while the young man had made an impressive attempt, this was also a possibility and therefore it needed to be addressed. Now the question was how would the young man react to the question.

Jounin Exam: Gathering Information Empty Re: Jounin Exam: Gathering Information

Nietzsche could feel tension in the room filling up as the ANBU captain asked, which elder had told him this. He naturally did not know any of the elders so even if he answered no to his questions then he would not be able to provide a real name. Luckily a mask hid his face, because behind it a bead of sweat rolled down his face and rested uncomfortably on his cheek. Nietzsche’s mind raced he had to think of something and quick. Then it occurred to him: he didn’t know much about the Kumogakure ANBU, but back in Kirigakure the ANBU were under direct command of the kage and very rarely were ordered to help the elders at all. He was taking a gamble that it was the same in every village. With this thought in mind he responded calmly to the captain: “Excuse me, sir? I told you when I came in that the Raikage himself sent me. I admittedly have no knowledge of, which elder I am to bring this to: I was told to merely drop it by the war room.” If this worked Nietzsche would thank his academy teacher back home for having taught ninja politics so well. While for a response another bead of sweat rested on his chin: this was stressful.

Jounin Exam: Gathering Information Empty Re: Jounin Exam: Gathering Information

Taki took notice of the clever answer the imposter had just delivered, and began to wonder if he would have actually believed the situation if not for the fact it was all a setup situation to begin with. ‘Seems this kid is pretty good.’ He thought to himself. He did not have much of a counter for the statement the young shinobi had purposed, as dropping off plans into the war room would be the correct option. He came up with another statement that although not very hard to counter, it could possibly trip the young man up depending on word choices, in the end leading them to have a little fight which if that happened the orders were to not kill and be careful as to not getting killed considering the situation was merely an exam test.

“War room is on the way to the Raikage’s Office, I’ll go ahead and drop off the plans on my way there.” He casually claimed, wondering how the young man would handle the situation, it would seem suspicious to effectively go out of his way to deliver the battle plans, but depending on how the statement was worded this could end now, if he was asked in the correct manner there was a good chance he’d realistically allow the young man to still take the scroll, as for now he simply let the young man figure things out.

[Its fine, little short on my part anyways. x_x tired.]

Jounin Exam: Gathering Information Empty Re: Jounin Exam: Gathering Information

The clockwork in Nietzsche’s mind was ticking on overtime. He had to think of something believable to say. He considered his position: The ANBU captain probably had the advantage of knowing the ins and outs of the village while Nietzsche on the other hand had only his wit to help him make it through. If he didn’t think of a response quick enough then the ANBU captain would probably suspect something and a battle would ensue, which Nietzsche rather wanted to avoid. Racking his brain he tried to remember anything about the current Raikage he had heard about, but nothing came to mind except that he was young. He had one more trick up his sleeve and he hoped it worked: he was going to make a rather rash statement about the Raikage based on his young age and hope it was believable. Nietzsche took up a rather lighthearted tone: “Well, sir, see the Raikage is a bit overeager and is already at the gates waiting. That is why it was suggested that I drop off the plans and then catch up with the main group as the Raikage can leave without me, but needs you, his captain, to keep the ANBU on point.” Nietzsche tensed his body a bit ready for any attack the captain might launch. His palms were now sweating a bit and he had to resist the urge to scratch them. Instead to take his mind off the itching he cast a sidelong gaze out the window. While it looked like he was looking out the window he in fact never took his eyes off he captain and watched his every move.

The ANBU captain realized that he was basically at a dead end. Personally he wanted to turn this into a fight to at least test the young man's talent and fighting skill, yet there was no realisitc need. Although he'd be more strict from now on and create extra styles of security passcodes to use when trying to get detailed information, there were no measures like that in place. He'd be using knowledge he normally would never know about in order to stop the young man from taking the scroll. The Raikage was scary at times so it would be foolish to ignore his orders directly.

"Alright, you win." he said dropping the façade. "I don't know if you've met the man who doesn't use doors and likes smashing tables, but the fact that I wouldn't stray from his order helped you today along with your quick thinking. This was a simple test to see how you would handle such a mission and deal with having to use back up plans. I hope you didn't harm any of my ANBU. Here is the proof you need, please return to your village as a noble Jounin." he finished explaining, then grabbed the scroll and opened it in front of the man. The contents of the scroll confirmed everything.

"You are hereby a Jounin. Take pride in that and congratulations."

[Good job coming up with smart statements, I probably could have dragged it on, but that would have been unfair considering the setup. You have completed the Jounin exams]
