Emo's and the Sun don't Mix Empty Emo's and the Sun don't Mix

Fri Jul 01, 2022 12:04 pm
Missions!!!:

The tiny Senju terror of the leaf had been sitting out on the balcony of his home in a chair staring out into the distance of the village. A lot had been going on within the village that made the young Senju debate on the current path he had been taken. Without pause he would reach for a small jug that had been sitting on his right, putting it to his mouth and drinking from it slowly. He had since become accustomed to the Hozuki DNA within him but due to it his physiology had changed. He needed to stay hydrated and it was odd that he didn't mind that. A small chuckle escaped his lips as he stood up and began to walk into the home with bottle in hand. A single hand would stretch out to open the door and as he stepped into the home what he felt when he came through was not carpet....it was sand? He waited for a moment as he wiggled his toes and feeling the coarse, rock like substance made him flinch backwards but he did not go backwards into a door no. He just fell into more sand. Instead of his normal clothing, he was apparently wearing a sleeveless dark hoodie (thankfully!!) and a pair of black and purple swimming shorts. Whoever had a sense of humor at least dressed him in his own choice of clothing. In a small panic he would sip from his cup a little more before bringing himself back to reality. Something must have happened...Maybe a crack in time maybe? Either way he would take advantage of the new vacation and walk around. As he did a child, younger than he at least tugged at the ends of his hoodie trying to get his attention. Looking down he would tilt his head and smile to the young boy as he spoke," And how could I assist you little one?," Toshiro had a soft spot for children despite being barely at the threshold for being a teenager, but this seemed like an exception. The young child requested help in trying to build the "bestest" and "awesomest" sand castle. While Toshiro wanted to pass on the offer it was....hard to say no to him. Whatever the case had been, he would begin to grab some tools and help with the beginning of an awesome sand castle of all time.

Emo's and the Sun don't Mix Empty Re: Emo's and the Sun don't Mix

Fri Jul 01, 2022 1:41 pm
Summer fell upon Konohagakure like an all-too-comfortable embrace. For the past week, a bout of hot, muggy weather hovered above the village, making the most mundane tasks a sweat-filled affair and sending even the most hardened of shinobi and kunoichi to the shelter of the shade come midday. Indeed, such heat made many consider that perhaps there was some wisdom in the old witticism that the country's summer months were the reason the land held the title of 'Fire Country'.

Today, in particular, found Ichika Zukumiki at home. For the first time in a long while, she had the day off and had resolved to spend it inside, as close to a fan as possible and as far away from the unrelenting heat as could be managed.  This meant spending the day on the couch, fan on full blast, lemonade in hand, and a book by her side—it wasn't necessarily the lap of luxury, but it was comfortable and that was all that mattered. In fact, finishing the last of what was probably her third glass of lemonade for the day and the latest chapter in her book, the genin couldn't help laying back and giving in to her mounting lethargy as her eyes drooped shut.

The dreams that followed drifted this way and that in a random smattering of vivid images and vague feelings that so often accompanied an afternoon nap. First came happy memories of her late mother, then a rush of strange colors that danced about like fireworks beneath her eyelids, and at last, darkness, complete and utter darkness. Soon, however, this darkness resolved into a blinding light complimented by the smell of salt and the steady staccato of waves sloshing against the shore.

The teen's eyes shot open.

Her living room was gone. The carpet had turned to sand, the couch on which she lay into a colorful beach chair, and the four walls she called home had given way to a vast expanse of Mikadzuki Beach. Moreover, she found herself in a white tank top and black shorts that reached midway down her thighs—when had she changed? Squinting out at the sea, she reasoned to herself that perhaps this was all still a dream from which she would soon awaken. After all, one does not just close their eyes in one world and wake up in another, it simply wasn't done.

"Hey, you!"

The voice of a small boy pulled Ichika from her internal musings.

"You're going to help too, aren't you?"

"Help?"

"With the sandcastle," the boy's tone bordered on impatience. "It'll be fun, come on!"

"Um, well—" the boy grabbed her arm and nearly pulled her from the beach chair.

"Come on, pleeeeeeeease?"

"Ok, ok, ok," Ichika relented, allowing the boy to lead her to the beginnings of his castle-to-be. "Sandcastle it is."

Pulling her hair back into a loose ponytail, Ichika joined the excited boy and his gloomy-looking compatriot in constructing something approximating a castle. If the genin was going to be honest, the whole thing looked more like a giant mound of ill-shaped sand, but the boy's excitement was infectious. And, despite her best efforts, she couldn't keep a slim, contented smile from slipping across her face as she worked on building the castle's gatehouse. Even if it was a dream or...something, perhaps a day at the beach was exactly what she needed. If nothing else, the sea breeze felt nice on her sun-starved skin.

Life, after all, was short, why not live a little?

Emo's and the Sun don't Mix Empty Re: Emo's and the Sun don't Mix

Sat Jul 02, 2022 3:20 pm
Summer was in full effect, the heat of the day making most activities far from comfortable to most. Training of any sort had a tendency to make the ninja pour sweat from every pore on their body, not to mention that being out in the sun had a negative effect on the skin of many, burning it without any hesitation. Or perhaps it was just the ghostly pale white skin of Shin that would crisp up and burn so easily. Because of this, Shin would focus his efforts on training indoors during the day, and only going out for training and exercise during the cool nights when the sun wasn't in sight to bake the boy alive. The pale youth was returning from one such night training, ready to head up to his crappy room and lie down for the night. He'd get into the inn, waving his hellos and goodbyes to each of the people he saw on a daily basis. He'd open his door, kick off his sandals and walk over to his bed. In an almost dramatic fashion, the tired boy would close his eyes, spread out his arms and fall over, expecting to land into a soft mix of bedding and pillows. Instead he was greeted with the feeling of grit or something. His first thought was the question of who was eating in his bed to get crumbs all over the place, but upon opening his eyes he realized that he had been lying face first in... sand?

It was extraordinarily bright, and a quick glance around suggested that he was at a beach of some sort. He'd pick himself up, only to notice that his clothing has also vanished, instead replaced with swimming trunks and a loose fitting, bright red shirt with some sort of pattern of large white leaves on it. This whole thing was rather odd, almost so much that he thought that he must have been dreaming. Of course, he had never dreamt of anything quite this pleasant and peaceful. There were others roaming the beach, some playing volleyball in the distance while others were closer to the water, forming the wet sand into various shapes. The most common object shaped by sand would appear to be castles.

The pale youth would slowly make his way over to the water, splashing some in his face in hopes that it might help spring him awake and let him return to reality. The water didn't help much, and so he would once again glance around, looking to see if there was anything here out of the ordinary. Maybe this dream wouldn't end until he finished some task? Or maybe he would just wake after enough time had passed, who knows. He'd look to see three people nearby working on a sandcastle. Shin didn't know any of the people there, nor did he really know if he would know anyone here. If this was his subconscious mind, wouldn't he recognize at least someone? As he walked by, the little one would rush over.

"Hey, you can help too!" He would shout to Shin, the excitement of the whole thing causing the boy to be far louder than anything the pale shinobi had anticipated. Shin would shrug. If he did need to complete some sort of task here before he could wake up, perhaps this was a sign that he needed to help build something awesome here with sand.

Figuring it was in bad manners to not introduce himself to the others, he would offer a bow. "Hi, I'm Shin. How can I assist?"

Emo's and the Sun don't Mix Empty Re: Emo's and the Sun don't Mix

Mon Jul 04, 2022 3:44 am
It was the only place he could bring himself to be these days.

Zunair felt a certain comfort amongst the tall shelves and ancient books of Konohagakure's oldest library. He didn't have to pretend here, didn't have to be anyone other than who he was. He felt like that was an element of his life that was sorely lacking; all his face-to-face time with humans these days was pretending. But here, he could just be, and breathe a little bit. The mint-eyed Hyuuga liked to curl up in a specific corner of the library that was near the section on Jutsu research. That wasn't always what she necessarily read, but the chair here was exceptionally comfortable. On this day he was reading what might appear to some to be a rather mundane book - The Histories of Konohagakure's Founding Clans - but to him was almost a comfort book at this point. He had first read it years ago when it was given to him as an assignment by his father.

He was curled up with his feet tucked under his thighs in this comfortable chair, lost in the novel. His silver hair softly caressed his face as he was wearing his usual attire. As he finished the book that's when he accidentally dropped it on his face. Groaning at the discomfort, he pulled the book away from his face. However, he was not in the library, he was somewhere on the beach. The warm air kissed his face, as the salted moisture enveloped his mouth. His eyes darted around, concerningly. What type of genjutsu was this? Immediately trying to be released from whatever scenario this was, he would soon find out nothing worked. Standing up, he noticed he was wearing a white shirt that said Mikadzuki Beach on it and some very flamboyant shorts that were multicolored and had banana's on them. To complete the look, she had some tan sandals.

Zunair rubbed his head as he remember a similar event that took months ago that had him transported to strange lands, was this one of them? Looking around, he spotted someone that looked familiar. Shin. His unusual white-colored skin was like a beacon of the glowing sun. He apparently was helping build sand castles with the children. Looked on at who he was helping, he did;t know one of the children but the other one he did recognize; well, the other two. One was Toshiro and the other was Ichika, two whom he has not seen in a very long time. At least he knew of some friendly faces here.

Walking forward towards the group with confusion spread across his face, "Um, where are we?" Zunair asked as his gaze scattered around them. Hopefully, someone has some answers on to where they were. Looking at the sand castles these youngsters were building, it looked like they were on some sort of mission. Before Zunair could actually do anything, he felt a light shove as an arguing couple passed them. They were arguing about things unknown to him but from what he could tell, it was a very heated match between the two. Passerby's and strugglers all stopped and stared as the couple continue the exchanging of venomous words. Maybe, he should see if he could help defuse the situation, but of course Zunair's reluctant and shy nature might be getting to the best of him.

Emo's and the Sun don't Mix Empty Re: Emo's and the Sun don't Mix

Mon Jul 04, 2022 4:30 pm
The young male had actually been having some fun with building this sand castle. Unknown to him a few more people would join the fray in helping. He didn't recognize the female who had joined though he had a strange feeling he knew them. Either way as he patted away the sand into a fully functioning wall he would introduce himself," Hey...Don't know if we've met before but I am Toshiro. Toshi for short. Seems you have been whisked to this summer wonderland as well huh?," he would try to make idle conversation as the group now began to quickly get the rhythm down for this castle. After moments he would step back to see their work and smile as the castle had stood tall and proud, a testament to his very first time in making one of these things," My brother would be amazed by this...or laugh at me for finding this comforting. Either way," he would turn his head to see or rather hear first before he saw it but it had been a couple arguing. Among the duo had been a familiar face that he had done a bunch of missions with and considered him a friend of sorts, Zunair. Walking over to the other genin he would smile and pat him on the back gently," I didn't think i would see you of all people here....how have you been?," though he had been cut short as he was now able to hear the couple arguing. Whatever her spouse had did certainly ticked her off, but a small sigh would escape his lips as he poked at the taller male," You know an apology would get you a lot further. I don't know the particulars of your argument, but if you offend someone or there is a misunderstanding, explain and clarify instead of arguing," to which the older male would scoff and cross his arms.

"And what would a brat like you know about anything huh?"

Toshiro's brows would furrow as his hands went into his jacket pockets and responded," This "brat" at least knows when he is wrong and is not afraid to admit it.This is your spouse correct? Your better half? Then what is wrong with admitting you made a mistake to her and you are sorry for it? You went through all of this to marry her but are too stubborn to let down your pride to keep her happy. It sounds like you want it to end just as it began..is that what you want?," the older gentleman looked at Toshi in defiance before thinking over just what had been said. Toshiro would tap his fingers on his forearm before the male sighed and gave up in defeat. He would slowly take his wife's hands into his own and begin to apologize for what he had did which made Toshiro very happy. Seeing that the man had the capabilities to change made all the difference and with that taken care of he would turn to Zunair and smile," And there we go. Now where are the others," he would ask as he looked around for the other two. There was bound to be more they could do while they were stuck here. It just seemed as if this was either one big resort (the things he had only read about in books and never had been to once since Konoha did not have one) or a spatial dimension in which people could come together and have fun. Either way he moved to pull the hoodie over his head as he began to look around. As he did he heard someone calling over the director of the fireworks, another thing he had only read about in books. Curious to how they worked he would move on over to them and listen for a moment to see what the issue was. Apparently the fuses had gotten wet from the tide that had came in just a little too high which made them duds. Interesting how that worked. The director then turned around to look at the group, asking if they could round up some more from the storehouse about 15 meters from their direction.

Toshiro would look to the others to see what they would do before walking over to the wet ones and sitting down," I can actually pull the water out of these if you guys want to go get more so we can have double the fun.," of course he would let them do their own thing while he began to hold his hands up to slowly pull the water from the fireworks.

Emo's and the Sun don't Mix Empty Re: Emo's and the Sun don't Mix

Tue Jul 05, 2022 11:04 pm
"I don't know about a wonderland, but it is something else," she replied to Toshi between packing globs of wet sand on top of one another. "Name's Ichika, by the way."

It turned out that sand was a better building material than she had initially assumed. Granted, dry sand by itself was next to useless and fell apart into a shapeless blob at the slightest disturbance. Wet sand, however, allowed the teen to construct a strong base and form two spires that became the defining feature of the castle's gatehouse. All it would take was a little bit more work and maybe to be viewed from a moderate distance away through squinted eyes for the structure to qualify as 'pleasing to the eye', but it would do.

"Hey, Shin, it's nice to meet you," Ichika paused her construction and greeted the pale newcomer with a smile that likely came off as more feline than friendly. "You can help me finish up the gatehouse. I don't know if you caught it before, but please call me Ichika."

The last member of Konohagakure's odds and ends would only get a slight half nod from Ichika: Zunair Hyuuga. In many cases, the Uchiha might have shrugged off the notion of holding a grudge. However, there was something about being launched a good distance across the training grounds that she couldn't quite shake off. Seeing the man, even now, sent phantom pangs of pain up and down her ribs from the last time he sent her to the hospital—their next spare, she resolved, would be rather different.

The lover's quarrel was one Ichika elected to watch from afar. Toshi, despite his age, seemed to have it well in hand, and the black-haired genin did not feel all that comfortable dispensing wisdom on a topic she knew little about beyond the same age-old platitudes. Plus, the couple likely didn't need a crowd coaching them on how best to live their lives. Emotions, after all, were an interesting thing and too many eyes or opinions might very well make the whole situation even worse. So, Ichika, for her part, was content to continue putting on the finishing touches to the gatehouse.

"You there," a deep voice boomed in the "Yes, you there working on the sandcastle."

A large man with a gunsmoke-colored beard approached those who weren't helping the couple.

"You reckon y'all can go fetch some more fireworks for tonight?" he hefted a large box from his back. "The fuses on these fizzled out and an extra pair of hands wouldn't hurt."

First a sandcastle, then an unhappy couple, and now fetching fireworks? Oh well, what was one more thing?

"Yeah,"Ichika gave the sandcastle a final pat and stood. "Sure thing—"

Toshi cut in and mentioned that he could simply dry the fuses out again. Quite the interesting power, to be able to pull moisture from something; the shinobi world never ceased to amaze. That said, the genin didn't have time to gawk at Toshi's ability: there were explosives that needed picking up.

"Double the fun sounds good to me, want to help me get those other fireworks?"

She glanced over at Zunair and Shin expectantly before heading off towards the storehouse. Today wasn't exactly going the way she had expected, but a day on the beach wasn't too bad. If nothing else, at least, it was not nearly as hot as back in Konohagakure. And, in the end, if it were only a dream, then it seemed like an interesting one from which she would wake up well-rested.

Somewhere in the distance, a loudspeaker announced the last call for some kind of race.

Emo's and the Sun don't Mix Empty Re: Emo's and the Sun don't Mix

Wed Jul 06, 2022 7:52 pm
The pale boy would work on the sand castles with the boy, the others introducing themselves. Shin didn't really know the others he saw here, but he figured there was little to no reason not to work together to complete any and all tasks that this strange land of Summer sun would throw their way.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Ichika." Shin would offer in reply, politely bowing to his elder. They would work on the gate house, the whole castle now coming together nicely. Shin would look around, seeing what other sand castles would have been formed along the beach. There were a few, but none of them came even close to comparing to the absolute "masterpiece" that was their creation. Shin would gaze upon the building, noticing the structures held strongly against not only the ocean breeze that blew regularly, cooling the party from the burning sun that the pale boy had practically no protection or normal exposure to under normal circumstances. Konoha was in the land of fire which could be hot at times, but the natural shade from the sheer number of trees in the land had a tendency to keep the sun off of the villagers directly and keep the area cool for the most part.

The one who called themselves Toshi would then greet a familiar face, "Hello, Zunair!" Shin would offer happily, his little eyes and face beaming with excitement as he saw someone that he knew. They would work together to talk to a couple that seemed to be having some sort of issues. The boy had absolutely no idea on how to assist, for his experience in this area was nil considering his particularly young age. He'd continue working on the structure, helping put final touches on it. Ichika seems to be also working on this, so at least he wasn't alone.

A strange fellow would approach them, asking them to fetch him some fireworks. Shin would give a puzzled look, unsure how exactly he would go about finding any such explosive devices on a beach. This place was magical though, so he would simply expect a magical fireworks shop or something to appear from thin air. Much to his surprise the other pale shinobi was able to completely dry out the fuse. Shin would look in amazement as the technique was used, baffled by the magic. While he was also a magical being capable of utilizing wind in ways that would astound the normal citizen. Double the fun sounded like a good idea to the pale boy, so he would follow along.

A loudspeaker would announce a... race? Racing in the sand sounded like an awful time. He gauged his ability to move in the sandy area. It was... less than ideal.

Moving in the sand was a chore, but he eventually made his way over to the storehouse with at least Ichika. "Did you wake up here unexpectedly as well?" He would ask, hoping that such a question wasn't seen as prying. "I can't say that I have any clue how I got here... and I kinda want to know how it happened." He of course wanted to learn everything he could, all techniques he could... everything. He had a thirst for knowledge that could probably never be sated. "I think that being able to manipulate reality to such a degree is astounding. Or perhaps this is simply a genjutsu that we all somehow had fallen under the spell of..." He didn't think that was the case, unless this was some genjutsu within a genjutsu type stuff. Genjutsu inception.

"Last I recalled I was about to lie down on my bed. Now I'm here. And still tired..." He would audibly sigh, sleep always managing to be just out of grasp. "How about you?"

Emo's and the Sun don't Mix Empty Re: Emo's and the Sun don't Mix

Fri Jul 08, 2022 6:04 pm
As Zunair looked at the group, it seems they are already acquainted with each other. The first to notice Zunair was Ichika, who only gave him a slight nod. Her greeting was not at all welcomed. Seems like she held a grudge since the last time they met. Zunair even offered to help her train so that she could get stronger but it seems it just gone incoherent. Zunair let out a small sigh, maybe if they met on different terms they could have somewhat been friends but for now, he supposes they are just the way they are.

With that, Zunair would turn around and watch as the couple argued, his reserved nature could not make him get in the middle of it. However, a light touch on his back broke Zunair out of his trance. Quickly turning his gaze to see who touched him, he was met with Toshiro's cold yet inviting demeanor. A small smile escaped his lips as the young genin talked to him. "Yeah, I've been good. Got promoted to Chuunin finally. However, I was just reading and now I find myself here. Glad to see a friendly face around." Zunair finished gleaming towards the gothic kid.

Turning his attention, the next voice that welcomed him was Shin. His reaction to Zunair was the complete opposite of Ichika's, warm and welcoming. A big grin crossed his face as he gave a subtle wave towards the unusually pale genin. Well, two out of three seemed to be okay with him, so not a terrible start. Turning back to Toshiro, it seemed he decided to take it upon himself to get in the middle of the argument with the couple, and it does not seem to be working as the man called him a brat. However, Toshiro gave a solid speech after that, who knew the youngster could be somewhat wise.

"Good job, Tosh, you handled it better than I could ever," Zunair said as he gave the genin a big thumbs up. The next thing they were doing is looking for the other two Konoha genin. Still playing in the sand he saw; well, not for long as the director showed back up and gave them new instructions which were to go get new fuses since these ones have been ruined by the tides. Toshiro decided to take it upon himself to try and pull the water out of the fuses while the other two went and gathered more, for more fun. Eh. He'd rather not go with Ichika right now as it would probably be awkward. Scratching his temple, he heard a loud siren and then a bullhorn calling all final members for a race. That would be better than standing here doing nothing as he does not have the ability to manipulate water.

He begins to walk over to where he figured the race was. A large crowd of people circulated the area and he saw what seemed like the signup table. Walking up, he would ask, "Hi, is this the place to sign up for the race?"

"Of course, it is sweety, sign right here," A rather plump, the elder female said as she gave him a signup sheet.

Scribbling down his name, the woman then placed a number on him: 24. "Now, get to the starting line," the woman said as she paused to look at the paper, "Zunair. Such an unusual name," she said with a smile. With a wave, he maneovered over to water that seemed like the starting line. Shifting next to people, every so often, accidentally touching their shoulders or arms. He guesses he must wait for the signup sheet to close.

Emo's and the Sun don't Mix Empty Re: Emo's and the Sun don't Mix

Sun Jul 10, 2022 2:34 pm
He would give a small nod to Ichika as he went back to creating this sandy wonderland for this child. It was different meeting some of the other genin outside of the village and his normal setting. Honestly he wasn't much of a talker or social interactive person unless it was with his older brother, but seeing as he had been out doing just that was a change for the young senju.. As they finished the castle and subsequently taking care of the couple's issues he would shake his head to Zunair and shrug," If reading all of those books and observing people have taught me anything its that sometimes you have to get to the root cause of the issue and make the person see from another point of view. He was unwilling to do it, but when something he cherished was put on the line he changed his tune very quickly. Thankfully she found it in her heart to forgive him or their marriage was done. I don't think I am even ready for something like that in the future...maybe i won't have to," though when Zunair had mentioned he had made it to Chuunin, Toshi would blink for a moment before continuing," Chuunin huh? I have really fallen behind haven't I? Well I can't lose now so consider when we get back this a challenge...i'll definitely reach Chuunin and probably go further after," he would give the widest grin he could as he walked with his friend. The group had figured out what they would do with the fireworks and thankfully the others were going to get more. As Toshi sat down he would continue to hold his hands out toward the wet fireworks and take in a deep breath. One of the abilities of the Hozuki that he had found throughout training was that they could pull water from the atmosphere. He thought the same could be applied in practice at least to pull out the water from these items.

He would imagine he was pulling water from the very air he had been breathing as well, pulling it toward him and condensing it into small balls that would float around him. He couldn't feel it persay but he could feel something happening. As he continued to focus the water would begin to drain from the fireworks and pooling over to the young Senju as they formed a few 3 cm balls of water that would swirl around him. Taking in another deep breath he would open his eyes to see his success and the others come back. He honestly had wished he could show Goto this, but it would have to wait. When the others managed to get the rest of the new fireworks together, he would look over to the man who had solicited their help," I managed to get all of the water out of them, but just be careful just in case. I am not quite sure how long they have been wet and if the now dried powder will ignite but you definitely have enough to give a good show," the director was happy with the result at least he had some more to use as a just in case. Looking over to Shin and Ichika he would see what they were going to do next," Thanks for helping out. Didn't honestly think that would work but hey if we stick around we can see the display go into full effect. What do you guys want to do next then?," he would look for Zunair only to see him going over to a race of sorts. While Toshi wasn't the most athletic of them all, he could still run. Shrugging he would motion for the others to follow if they wanted to and signed up as well. Taking a running stance next to Zunair he would look forward and smile," This should be fun though I have no doubts that you will win this," but they would see.

Emo's and the Sun don't Mix Empty Re: Emo's and the Sun don't Mix

"Hmm," Ichika's eyes went red with the power of her birthright. "Well, it's not a genjutsu or, if it is, it's a very powerful one."

Her eyes returned to their usual coal color.

"But yeah," her attention remained on Shin who, much to her dismay, was not all that much shorter than her. "I fell asleep in Konohagakure and woke in that chair over there. I suppose it could all be a dream, but who's to say?"

Giving a half-hearted shrug, Ichika continued on to the fortuitously located warehouse. With sheer wooden walls and boarded-up windows, the place certainly looked like somewhere one might keep explosives of one stripe or another.  How strange that the pair might be drawn to it as if some arbitrary force required them to move ever onward at a steady pace lest the day be lost to the coming night. Divine intervention aside, the warehouse did, indeed, have exactly what the two ninjas were looking for: loads and loads of fireworks that would soon be used to paint the heavens with each and every color of the rainbow.

"Shin," she nodded to one of the smaller, red boxes as she hefted a similarly sized blue one. "Why don't you grab one of those too? This should be more than enough...I think?"

Truth be told, the teen couldn't quite claim to be a pyrotechnics expert. However, surely these two boxes plus the explosives Toshi was drying out would suffice. If not, well, they could always go pick up more for the strange fireworks director. It wasn't like the mysterious warehouse had anything approaching a shortage of fireworks. In fact, the director might even be able to go get them himself, a novel concept if ever there was one. Nonetheless, if Shin did end up following Ichika, the pair would return to the director under a shower of what seemed like a thousand thank yous. Unfortunately, such praise would be short-lived as the distant announcer cut into the moment.

"Shorty and black-hair, get over here we need two more!" The voice behind the loudspeaker called out in Ichika and Shin's direction. "We're about to start!"

For half a moment, the black-haired teen didn't react. However, after a few moments, a red blush rose in her cheeks at the realization that she was 'black-hair' and Shin was 'shorty'. It would seem, once more, that the day had plans for the four Konohagakure ninja that ran counter to simply relaxing on the beach. Why couldn't a day at the beach just be a day at the beach?

"I guess a quick run couldn't hurt."

Regardless of whether Shin followed suit, Ichika joined Toshi and Zunair on the start line. Despite her education as a kunoichi, Ichika never quite enjoyed the physical aspect of the job and running especially. What was the point of it, after all? There were far better means of moving about. Surely, however, a quick fun run was well within her means, right? One way or another, she would soon find out, as once the final entries lined up it was time to go at the sound of the starting gun.

BANG!
