A new path

The words Ayato spoke had a ring to them, and he would keep them close to his heart for the meantime.  After the cordial meeting it was even more apparent that Miyamoto was having an off moment as he quickly tried to cut himself off from his emotions.  Naatsuki then told him about the anesthetic and that she would still be using it anyway. So the Terumi war machine just nodded and then looked at the woman as she placed a mask on him.  “After this, I would like to meet you again…except I would like for it to be outside these walls and without the same sort of…procedure.”  He would say as he knew the numbing agent would soon take effect.  His head slumped back, leaving his body to the will of Hoshigakure, to the lord Seventh and his sister whom had brought back feelings and emotions he had thought forgotten.  He really wished to punch Ayato for this, it was not on purpose and Miyamoto knew so, but he also knew that these emotions were locked away for a reason.

“Hello…old friend…”

Miyamoto’s eyes were open…except he was no longer in Hoshigakure, he was now on the outskirts of Amegakure.  He recognized the voice immediately, it was his “other”, his so-called twin personality, it was a darker version of him.  At least that was what was thought and showed, but soon as he began to see the images of his fleeing family he remembered…the tears streamed down his face as he ran through the decrepit ruins of a place that was his birthplace.  His mother had grown resentful and no longer talked to her son, she still followed him because she knew he was at least able to protect the remaining family members…her brother, his wife and kids. His grandmother and grandfather, and even his unborn sibling from the man she kid with in Hoshigakure…a man now dead from the rebellion of Valen…she no longer trusted Miyamoto…believed him to be a curse, they moved daily, and he never slept more than two hours a night…talking to himself and to apparent “others”.  Miyamoto also became much more ruthless, killing in cold blood for resources and for cover against the elements.

The kids were the first to meet their unfortunate end.  Miyamoto was scouting but while using the trees he never sought to check the ground outside of the normal radius they occupied…they were lost to a pit trap and were unable to be recovered. His uncle and his wife mourned over the children lost, but Miyamoto she’d no more tears…after their long journey he was back to his home…a dream of his…to rebuild a nation could start…he did not need the weak.  The voices in his head were becoming more…blunt and rather curt towards his remaining family.  Miyamoto’s mother kept her pregnancy private until she could no longer keep quiet, and the fact was…Miyamoto knew…he was not dumb…but he continued his conquest.  He would find ninja that knew the earth chakra, steel ninja, even going as far as to abduct researchers from other nations…he was making progress with building foundations based off of only the memories of his uncle and mother.  His remaining family had already died to both age and the elements.  

There were no tears…

It wasn’t until there was an escape one night did Miyamoto vitally check on his remaining family…his uncle and his wife…killed themselves and left the mess for him to clean up.  Miyamoto destroyed the building and reduced it to nothing but purified earth.  He then made the “members of new Amegakure” build over the site and it left his mother mortified…when she finally gave birth though…Miyamoto was unable to help…with no real experience with childbirth he had to help his mother give birth…only for it to…not end well.  With the death of his half brother and his mother Miyamoto snapped.  The voices stopped, and the emotions he had were but a thing of the past…even anger seemed pendantic and rather unnecessary.  So he decided to give up.  He released those that wanted release…he did not care if they told anyone…those that stayed and tried to kill him…met their demise by both lava and his mutated Juugo arm.  

He waited to be captured…ate what he could, gave up on building, on dreaming, on life…until Ayato found him…


The next moment after his memories left him he was in the void again.  

“It is time we get back to the basics…”. He heard this voice in the voices of his family and most notably was his own child-like voice of the past.  His eyes opened as he was finished being closed up.

When he felt the IV being inserted into his veins, that piercing of flesh was welcome…a notification that he had not yet entered the realm of the dead. The soreness was immediate and he nearly winced from the pain, but he knew better than to show weakness…especially in front of Ayato.  He saw Natsuki first as he opened his eyes, the light was still gone and Ayato asked how he was feeling, as if right out of the gate he would be able to feel anything but pain.  So when he looked at Natsuki first he sat upright, his skin tight where the operation had taken place.  “Thank you for your expert care.  I appreciate your help in this matter, the wound will heal quickly thanks to your help.” He did not ignore Ayato outright but he did not answer him at first.  Then with a slight adjustment he made a hand sign to gather chakra, to Natsuki it might be alarming, and if Dusk was there…Miyamoto might have been struck then and there.  Yet the Terumi just breathed slowly and calmly for a few minutes, sorting his chakras and feeling around himself with said chakra.

“The Senju chakra…it is alive and well, it compliments the Juugo’s natural energy usage and the Terumi’s link between life and death.  As for the other piece of my body you have taken and replaced…I feel something faint, but I cannot quite access the power…yet.  I might need more time to recover brother.”  He spoke in a tone that was not as cold as before he went to sleep…he also called him brother…a term the Terumi had not used in many years now.

Miyamoto was now free from whatever fever dream he engaged. Before the anesthetic had taken effect, he had asked to know Batsuki better if possible. Ayato did not blame him; his sister was said to be the most beautiful woman in Haven. And unlike the youngest of the twins, Toneri, who was quite the character, Natsu had a gentle personality. It was almost impossible to hate her.

When Miyamoto was up, he said he felt the Senju DNA was meshing within the chakra of his system. However, the Sharingan lung appeared to be slightly on the wrong side. Of course, they were all ready for such a scenario.

Natsuki executed multiple handseals, and her palms emanated a green light. The mystical Palm technique, the pinnacle of medical ninjutsu. If Miyamoto let her, she would gently touch him to the chest and send medical chakra through his system. The attempt would activate the blood vessels and circulate them through Miya's system.

"What about now? Do you see yourself summoning a fifty-meter statue any time soon?"

There were no words spoken for the moment, just a long silence to see if perhaps there was just a slow start to the Uchiha bloodline.  Miyamoto just continued to circulate his breathing as if to concentrate his chakra flow, but the blockage was almost visible now...at least to him.  When Natsuki approached him, having coated her hand in an emerald aura he could feel the chakra emanating from it, and he moved his arms to allow her to get better access to his chest so she could do what was needed.  He remembered the Mystical Palm technique, it was a medical art that was highly specialized to promote blood flow and to encourage a faster healing rate using the body’s own natural Chakra in conjunction.  The steps being followed to ensure that Miyamoto was going to receive these transplants were going to be long and he was sure that if they continued to not work that organ failure was the LEAST of his worries.

Thinking back on when he was given the Juugo transplant, his memory had been foggy for the longest time, only broken free when he had given up on his emotions the first time.  The medical shinobi informed his family that he was likely to die or have some sort of trauma brought on by this injury, however his body almost naturally seemed to take on the new bloodline that was introduced with not only grace, but making the Terumi boy become more at ease with the nature of the world and with the duality of his own bloodline.  So as he learned his own medical shinobi way to combat any issues that may occur out on the field it was becoming more commonplace for there to not be a sort of support shinobi needed...warriors were made and he was behind the curve...now he was here reminiscing about the old days.  The voices were still there in his head, he suffered from PTSD and while he tried to shut it all off with turning his emotions off he also now knew that in order to grow both as a warrior and as a person he needed to have his own identity.  The chakra infused blood began to circulate in his veins and all through his body and he had to admit it felt good to have the touch of a female on his body, but this was much more than just his hormones picking up...he felt sparks go off in his brain and he took a deep breath as he stretched his arms, nearly popping the IV out of his arm while doing so, but even with the lightest of movements he would stop his body from reacting, as if he knew how to turn off movements of his own body at will.

“I feel as if my body is growing accustomed to these changes, but my lung capacity feels off, I assume one of the transplants was performed there?  Thank you Natsuki for the mystical palm...I would like to do some stretching on my own though for now so if you do not mind I am going to stand up now.”  He would say before obviously waiting for her to move away from him,  He did not answer Ayato just yet as he did not have the right words to do so, but he was different, it was not like expelling poison or being birthed anew, but it was something he was not ready for.  Assuming he was not stopped and he was actually listened to, he would set his feet down onto the floor...feeling it, the chakra that moved through the area seemed a little more vibrant now and his senses felt like they were no longer dulled.  He actually felt the need to go to the bathroom or to just sneeze...he could not tell which, it was probably the body getting used to something new.  After a moment he took in a deep breath and would slowly finish trying to inflate his lungs but alas, with the changes done that was a chore for him right now and he ended up in a coughing fit and would eventually cough up blood.  Holding his free hand up as to tell them to remain where they were.  He took another breath and this time the exercise seemed to be moving the blood where it needed to go.  “The lung, it was not damaged in the first place was it, not that I could not NOT function if it was not, but it feels like there is something that is stopping the blood from reaching the particular capillaries needed and not transporting the oxygen and carbon dioxide from my body, let me continue to focus for a few moments, but if I pass out...then something is probably very wrong.”  He said with confidence before breathing slowly and steadily, there was a pain in his eye that showed whenever he took in a breath, but slowly it was starting to diminish.  After a few minutes he would begin to perform basic entry level martial arts forms, basic academy level movements that promoted chakra circulation as well as fortified his own veins...he could not remember how long it had been since he had last performed these exercises, but he did know that the exercises were nothing to be embarrassed about.  

Slowly his breathing began to normalize out as he made hand signs that corresponded with each of the chakra natures that were now in his body.  The fire, earth, water, lava, boil, and even wood now circulated through his body, nothing manifesting to the naked eye, but he was demonstrating control that would normally not be possible...especially right after a major surgery.  He then looked to Ayato and spoke, answering his earlier questions.  “I feel liberated now, lighter, but raising large statues...well I am not like those characters in the books that are sold at shops like they are history books."  He said with a light chuckle, holding his side for a moment as he winced.

The cold personality and strict upbringing gave Miya trouble interacting with others in topics unrelated to warfare. The young man has not attempted to be more open about his emotions, nor has he tried to better understand this world by interacting with people from different walks of life. Miyamoto favors violence whenever he comes across someone or something he perceives as a threat regardless of whether the violence is called for or not.

However, it seemed that Natsuki's presence still brought the old boy he once was. Ayato would note that positive influence and perhaps build upon that in the future. When Miyamoto rose from the bed, he attempted to do his de-construction of the situation. Ayato was more distracted by the drops of blood that spilled on the forum. Tomorrow's cleaning crew would kill the Kage for that, and in truth, Ayato wouldn't want to blame them.

"I must admit I know little and care less for transplants. My sister is one of the best medics in the country but far from the most experienced in the practice activating them." The Kage walked towards the window, looking outwards as the rain fell in sheets. "Sometimes, you don't need a hero; sometimes, you need a professional." The Kage added ice in his voice so everyone in the room would hear.

“Natsuki, I need Akabayashi Terumi. Tell him to meet us tomorrow at dawn in the Water Gardens. Miyamoto, Dusk will give you back your items and ryo at the door. You are both dismissed." His sister bowed out, and after providing a smile to Miyamoto, she desummoned her equipment and exited.
Once both of them were gone, Ayato would remain alone in silence. Silence, the world's greatest treasure.

The words that he used seemed to either fall upon deaf ears or there was something else going on that Miyamoto was unsure about.  Regardless, since the deed was now done the Terumi shinobi no longer needed Ayato dismissed him, stating that sometimes a hero was not needed and sometimes a professional was required.  He dressed himself slowly before dressing his own wound before being informed of the meeting in the morning and that Dusk would be returning his belongings once outside.  As he turned to take his leave he could not stand it any longer, his mind processed those words differently than what Ayato might have meant for them.

“For what it is worth brother...you are wrong.  There is always a need for a hero in any era.  I will never be able to make up for what I have done to my own family, but I was serious when I said that I would not let it happen to another.  I will always do what needs to be done...not only for Hoshi...but for ANYONE that needs a hero...I will strive to become that man.”  Miyamoto said as he placed his hand on the door, he did not bow to Ayato, not because of lack of respect...but because he felt that since he was opening his own eyes...he should at least give the man that was the closest thing to his brother...a word of advice.  Miyamoto was not naive enough anymore, but he was opening up once more.
