Birthday: April 20th
Weight: 160 lbs
Appearance: Thin and lanky for his height, Jo looks like he might not get enough to eat. Pale skin and a slender face topped with a mop of black hair that remains unkempt and messy. His preferred style of clothing is typically nondescript and dark of color, allowing him to blend in with most places he goes. His most notable feature is a porcelain mask that is typically covering his face with a simple painted expression. On the road, he is usually dressed in a traveler’s cloak with a hood, keeping his person as well as his possessions concealed. His eyes are a deep blue that nearly fades into a purple while in the lack of light.
Personality: Stoic and dour, Jo isn’t exactly the light-hearted, fun-having sort. Though he might not be the life of the party, he still considers himself a personable person though connects better with people on a one-on-one basis than in groups. Despite this, when it comes to matters outside of his younger brothers, Jo prefers to keep to himself. Minding his peace and quiet, Jo is not the sort to go out of his way to correct a public display of injustice or to help those who make trouble for themselves. Life has offered Jo a difficult path, and he finds it bothersome enough to walk his own road without having to help someone else walk theirs. The exception to this is, of course, his family.
History: His earliest years are memories most scarce to him. It is more like a slide show if the slides were more like passing feelings and experiences than they were actual memories. He was certain that, at one point, he had a father. A mother. Perhaps even a brother and a sister. Aside from these facts, he could not tell you their names, nor what they looked like. He couldn’t tell you the village in which he was raised, nor how he had come to be separate from it. His earliest memories were that of a dark chamber, warm bodies around him, huddled to share their warmth as their dirty forms shivered. There was nothing but the feelings of the deepest of sorrows. That was until the light appeared. A brilliant, blinding light that gave shadow to a figure. A figure that would extend his hand out to Jirou, lifting him from the muck.
For the next years, Jirou would follow this figure from place to place knowing him only as Old Man, though some would come to call him the Old Man of the River. Countless battles passed before Jirou’s eyes, the Old Man cutting down bandit after bandit. Jirou never understood what his goal was, but never bothered to ask either. All he knew was that this man had saved him, and was saving people still. Even when the Great Wolf of Haven appeared, Jirou watched as the Old Man refused to be swayed or back down. It was as frightening as it was terrifying to behold. Each person rescued was another soul Jirou aided in recovering from a life of capture, some of which stuck around longer than others with the group of them forming a small, close-knit family that they could rely on. Jirou couldn’t remember a time when he hadn’t been with the Old Man, and never knew another to be around before him.
As he came of age, Jirou asked to learn the arts that the Old Man used to fight these groups of men that would steal away others. The art of the ninja. His training proceeded well, though was hindered as Jirou began to experience odd behaviors in the world around him. Chakra and energies that didn’t seem to sit naturally but that only he seemed to be able to observe. Energies that almost felt familiar to him, not unlike those distant memories of his past. Growing restless as he grew older, Jirou would eventually take his leave of the Old Man and the younger siblings he had acquired during his time with the elder shinobi. Despite his absence, there was never a time in which he didn’t seem able to somehow find his way back to the other siblings of the River. Though Jirou would wonder to and from them from time to time, he always seemed to appear just as the brothers were in need, offering them the same familial bond of a distant but affectionate older brother as he always had.
Now Jirou wanders the land, following the feelings of these strange energies that he can’t quite define, returning to his brothers every now and then to make sure they were not going without.
