Menial Work Empty Menial Work

Missions:

E-Rank: Simple Gardening
E-Rank: Monument Mopping
E-Rank: Dog Walker

=======

Mitsu kneeled in the dirt, the morning sun beating down heavily on the young shinobi as he pulled out clumps of weeds. Sturdy damn things he thinks. Growing everywhere they werent wanted, werent needed, werent appreciated. He pulls another bunch out. Even still he was sure someone would appreciate weeds like this. They had their own nice little look to them even if they were invasive. He tosses another bunch to the pile. Mitsu stood up once again. Well with weeds gone he still needed to till the soil. Taking the hoe to till and rough up the soil for the plants to get their nutrients. Bringing life to the over grown garden helped him smile after yesterdays intimidation. The feeling of it still stayed in his throat, the intimidation of the genins family and the disguising as hunter nin. It made him feel filthy. Doing that to them. But... maybe he was making up for it with the work he does. He sighs, trying to not let the things trouble him as he continues his work. His robes lower edge spattered with bits of mud and dirt.

When he finally was done morning turned to noon and he looked down to his papers, seeing what mission had been next.

=======

The sight of the old mizukage statue filled him with healthy mix of disgust and worry. Both for the grime and gunk that has taken its place and the visage of the previous leader of the village, the stories he'd heard of him. Of what he did to the smaller villages and of putting Konoha under Kirigakure's rule. It left a knot in his stomach. But still, what he thought of it was no matter. With a few hand seals and a puff of smoke Mitsu is turned into an eagle, carrying a bucket in his talons and flying towards the top of the statue. Dropping it over top and bathing the image of the previous mizukage in soapy water and suds in the sea breeze. He dispels the transformation while he was atop the statue. From up here he gets his scrub and gets to work on the statue. Salt damage and gunk from the birds. It disgusted him but he had to finish the mission he signed up for.

He wondered what they were like, he was still fairly young and kept in the home during his rule so he didn't know all that much about him. But he supposed what happened was just how war went. Winners and losers and all that. He kept scrubbing as he mused to himself, the soap and suds along with the grime of the sea staining his robe sleeves. He had wondered if Konoha would end up as anything more than a servant to Kiri. He had heard whispers of something brewing with suna and couldn't help but wonder if that had something to do with it.

He hops back down to the lower portion of the statue, this part had less of an issue with birds and salt as it did with the ocean spray corroding and eroding the stone. It was a slow process but would be an eventual one he supposed. Still he cleaned and washed. Even if it would inevitably end up crumbling his job wasn't 100 years from now. It was current and today.  So he kept scrubbing, when the sponge was worn he used the mop and the long handled brush to reach high up onto the statue and get the places he missed or couldn't reach from its shoulders. Even still he thinks on the memory of the mizukage. How even this statue which still instills feelings in those that see it will eventually crumble and fall into the ocean. And eventually all his statues will, as will those who knew him, as will eventually those that were affected by him. One day so to will his memory.

Mitsu looks around, realizing that he zoned out again while cleaning. He sighs and chastises himself for being so reckless before packing up his equipment. The mop spilling into the bucket with a soapy splash and the scrub tossed in not long after. The equipment brought back to the nearby janitors building for whatever soul might be next to clean and gaze upon the mizukage. And so the afternoon continued on.

=======

Mitsu struggled against the pull of the dogs, nearly a dozen dogs dragging the poor Genin along as pulled and dragged fruitlessly. One he could handle, two three four maybe even five. But twenty??? Wait... no. Nineteen. Oh no.

He hurriedly ties the dogs down to a nearby post before he ran. Dashing towards the escapee.

The shinobi scaled the tile wall chasing after with practiced balance towards his quarry. It ducks around a corner and her's just as fast on the turn. His sandals smacking against the tile to the watch of Onlookers as he chased down his prey. Eventually he manages it, two hand seals and a double of him looks to cut off their path. They buy the bluff and run down the alley way into a dead end... The small brown dog yipping and growling angrily at the tired ninja. "FINALLY" Mitsu sighs. Running down the dog and suffering a couple bites and scratches before he can really clip the collar around the dog once more.

Finally he can finish walking the dogs as the day turns to evening. Taking the dogs back to the shelter after their pens had been cleaned. A few of the workers there wondering what happened and why he looks so dirty and he just says "It's been a long day" but the long day would soon be over he hoped. One more mission to cross off the list.

=======

The next mission was one of a food delivery to the old mizukage's dogs, so he decided to speak with the local butcher in the market. As he goes in the butcher cuts a bit too harsh, spattering a bit of blood over Mitsu who tries to shield his face as best he can. A bit still gets through but a few apologies and a promise of a free cut later all's worked out.

The day was getting late and the market was lit by the orange glow of lanterns hanging above the street and stalls. It gave the whole day a bit nicer end. Especially after the dogs getting a pork bun from the butcher felt like a nice ending to it all. The place was busy, the people coming in the evening to buy tomorrows meats. Smells of food cooking all around him as men and women bought and sold their own delicacies in the market. Some sold fish, some sold pork, others beef or vegetables home grown. Others sold their own street food such as dumplings  or fried wantons. The smells coalescing into a warmth that with the light made the place feel homey.

Even if the place visually had a bit of grime and dirtiness to it, it had its own sort of charm to it. The boxes packed outside the stalls, the blood dripping some of the fresher meats, A stray or two sit by the meat shops gnawing on bones the butchers had provided. People laugh and banter with the stall keeps as they buy what they need, many being old friends or even family from across the city. Even with the dirtiness the comradery and the atmosphere of the place where people come to enjoy their favorite foods made the place feel kind and calm.

However it's there in the crowded streets full of civilians Mitsu hears something that makes his skin crawl.
"Mitsu? Is that you?"

He turns to see the voice, a thin man with long black hair that fell over his shoulders. Robes an immaculate white paired with the white pupilless eyes of the man. A look of worry in his eyes hides a look of... disappointment as he looks to Mitsu. It was a look Mitsu had seen many a time before. His father, Suto Hyuuga grabbed him by the sleeve before he recoiled. Mitsu looked down and saw he still had the grime from the day still on him. The grime of the statue, the dirt from the weeds, the fur and dirt from tussling with the dogs, and now a spatter of blood from the butcher

His father spoke again. Saying "Mitsu you look..." He pauses, hiding a bit of disgust "..filthy. What have you been doing all day? Come on we need to get you home right now, you need new clothes and a bath" He says it while he pulls on Mitsu's sleeve. Mitsu doesn't move.

"I still have a mission to finish, like I've been doing all day. Once I finish it then Ill head home." He pulls his sleeve from his fathers hand, getting the response of him grabbing his sleeve again. He looks down and then back up at his father who looked back with restrained anger.

"The mission can wait we need to get you home before someone sees you like this" He whispers the final part before pulling again hoping his son would follow and Mitsu again pulls his sleeve back. Ignoring his father and talking with the butcher about the Mizukage's dogs. A bit of smoke flowing from the logs in a nearby stove. His fathers brows furrowed.

It's then he hears more from his father. "Mitsu are you feeling okay?" With the phrase said mitsu could feel it in his throat, he coughs. He coughs again, and again and again. Unable to intake any air he starts, fear setting in to panic before he sees his father. Looking at him with worry across his face, or so it appeared. Fear turns to hatred.

He draws his sword on his father, The burning in his lungs as he attempted to breath intensified. Surprised onlookers gasp seeing it in the market and the stall owner attempts to break it up. But Mitsu heard none of it. All that was important was his father across from him. It was unclear to him what emotion his fathers eyes were meant to show, pity, sadness? But there was no doubt what emotion was truly there. It was one he had seen many times before disguised as others.

Disgust.

He swings his blade at his father in a desperate cut and his father sidesteps it, his the flowing robes being the only indication he even moved. He was swift as he entered Mitsu's space. A hand raised and brought down onto his neck and with it Mitsu's body falls of its own volition. The last sight in his eyes was his father looking down onto him, as he had done so so many times before.

The evening turns to night.
