When the Bingo Book Calls (HFE, P) Empty When the Bingo Book Calls (HFE, P)

Wed Oct 16, 2019 5:11 pm

Mission Details :

Presently Maku, the man of many titles and positions, found himself standing in the middle of a lake.  The moon shone bright above him on a clear and crisp night.  No sign of rain, and not a cloud in sight. Stars dotted the black canvas, and the gentlest of breeze played with the hair kissing the back of his neck.  As for our protagonist, he had a fishing pole in hand, the bobber gently bouncing several meters away. The lake had a diameter of a couple hundred meters, and had seemed a perfect place to practice a little fishing while he waited out the night.  Slew had been elusive since his dream of past, and tonight had proved no different.

Still dressed in his Halloween ball regalia, it found him to be fully outfitted. Mask covered the top of his head with blonde hair spilling out of the back, his Akatsuki headband covered his throat in a choker fashion, purple pendant gently moving up and down as he breathed, his Akatsuki chef coat at contrast with the dazzling stone.

“Little red riding hood, you sure are looking good.....you got everything a big bad wolf could want....”. The song he’d heard at the Ball was still stuck in his head, along with all the other events that had transpired.  The difference being he could get the song out by singing, the rest was stuck.  As he stood he reflected on the majesty of nature around him, feeling the energy it held, even more lush than the land of fangs had held. His hopes of a fish lacking, his meditation and reflection went uninterrupted.

“Gonna keep my sheep suit on, till you can see....I can be trusted to walk with you......”. His voice though soft traveled across the glass like lake. The banks surrounding where covered in thick foliage, matching the jungle fauna he was accustomed to in the jungles of Waterfall country.

“What a big heart I have.....the better to love you with.....”. What was the next mission, the next surprise....the days had continued, and yet he still had not found anymore clarity.  He’d assumed it would come, but he was left wanting.  Why he left the damn country in the first place.......destiny rarely came to you, you had to go out and find it....usually.

NPCs: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hv-DrIdYql9enwCUXIRQ5L-Ew4N3u2oc9RJPuxUVmJQ/edit?usp=sharing

Arakan: 6'3", 164 lbs, tan, bald

Daisuke: 5'6", 133 lbs, muscular, blue hair

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Quiet.
Arakan loved the quiet.
No wind, no crashing of waves, no screaming- the dead silence was a comforting shroud to the missingnin from Kirigakure. Currently, he was on a reluctant mission with one of his compatriots. Hopefully, once it was completed, the two of them'd be set for life- no more ninja shit, no more noise. He could just rent out some secluded cabin in the middle of nowhere and live out the rest of his days in peace. Unlike him, Daisuke had other plans- maybe marry and settle down. Honestly, he didn’t pay too much attention to his ramblings, but it was nice that he still had hope.
Up in the distance, a lone man sat at the center of a lake. “Is that…?” Daisuke spoke up. Arakan shrugged.
“No point in anything till we know for sure.” he found himself responding in a soft baritone. The two would non threateningly take their first steps onto the lake, about two meters apart. Neither of them wore any identifying clothing or markers- though Arakan found himself unsealing a bottle of aged sake from a satchel at his waist. He knew his chance of not seeing the morning was exponentially increased should the man be their target- he might as well go out on his terms.
“Hail, traveller!” his voice echoed as they approached. “You here for the festivities as well?” Arakan held up the bottle of sake. He was sure he had some little shot glasses tucked away somewhere… Daisuke tilted his head and rocked on his feet. He was a younger ninja- about fifteen or so- but he tended to be uneasy around strangers. “If you are, I know the perfect thing to wait out the night ‘till the fireworks arrive.”
Should he accept, he’d pull out three Antique Shot Glasses from a scroll at his hip, engraved in an odd design that he doubted the stranger had seen before. He’d hand one to the blonde, one to Daisuke, and keep one for himself and pour a generous amount of liquor in each cup. After a moment, he’d down his in one or two gulps. Daisuke would wrinkle his nose at the beverage.
“Um, I’m too young to drink, I think-” he began.
“Nonsense,” Arakan responded. “There’s a festival going on. I’m sure your Ma wouldn’t mind.”
When the Bingo Book Calls (HFE, P) Empty Re: When the Bingo Book Calls (HFE, P)
Thu Oct 17, 2019 4:39 pm
The glassiness of the lake soon found itself interrupted.  A soft ripple trailing across the features that had laid undisturbed prior.  Turning, Maku saw two individuals approaching.  He’d sensed them a ways back, but then he’d though it was but the one man, the others chakra completely eclipsed.  It wasn’t until they were near that he could sense him.  His own chakra was suppressed low, however thanks to his mask he could never actually get it to a bare minimum.  (Chakra sensing for Maku is at 21)
Before his guard could go to far up, one of them hailed him in a jovial way.  Making a motion akin to tipping a hat he would wave to the strangers.  “Aye that’s right.  Just finished up a costume contest.”  He would smile widely, and gesture up and down his garment.  In some ways he looked so overt one would question who he really was given the festivities of a Halloween party.  Surely no one was so stupid they’d leave themselves this out in the open.
Looking and even smelling the fruit infused sake, a smile even wider crept across his boyish face.  “The fish might not be granting me any luck, but you sure are, I’ll partake.”  He would say with a laugh.  Reaching out he’d wait for a glass to be handed to him.
Matching the wondering man gulp for gulp he’d shake his head and put it out for another.  “Almost has a salt taste with it, or perhaps a smell?  Not bad my friend.”  He’d say.  As the other Shinobi wrinkled his nose, Maku would give him a wink, “sure it’ll be fine lad.  You’re among friends.”
Maku would let the pole fall and hit the water where it gently floated.  It lacked a reel and upon inspection was little more than a stick and string.  As it bounced in the water, an after effect of the men walking up, Maku would put his glass out for a refill.  “These are nice, where’d you get them from?”  He’d allow the man to answer before asking a second question, “did ya’ll have to travel far to get here?”
He’d allow the men to give their own answers, and in anticipation of their own questions “Names Taki Maku, I run a couple restaurants.  Came down to do a bit of the catering.”  He’d say lazily.  While he appeared relax, his nerves and attention were still up, watching as the men moved.  He’d lived a long time as an MN, and even though he could always appear to be having fun, he still choose not to let his guard down, keeping both men where he could see them, making it appear natural, especially given they had come up together.
When the Bingo Book Calls (HFE, P) Empty Re: When the Bingo Book Calls (HFE, P)
Maku- almost certainly confirmed to be their target at this point, due to the Akatsuki symbol, his appearance, and his name- said they were among friends. Daisuke took a hesitant sip and nearly gagged as it went down. "Ew, that's disgusting. How do you adults drink this stuff all the time?" he muttered. Arakan shrugged and pocketed his own glass before taking Daisuke's and finishing it off himself, before pouring Maku another glass. It had an obscenely high alcohol content- a few glasses would likely be enough to knock out a civilian.
"Ah, the shot glasses I commissioned about... say, thirty years ago by now. Little thing to remember my late wife by, I 'spose." the alcohol had loosened his tongue a bit. "To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone had to travel some distance to get here. The ruins of Waterfall aren't exactly a popular destination, last I heard." Inhale. Exhale.
"Why was waterfall destroyed?" Daisuke popped up. "To be honest, it doesn't... Seem that big...." he trailed off lamely, looking at his feet. He was noticeably quivering, though whether it was in anticipation or anxiety he didn't know. "Ha ha ha..." He sniffled, avoiding eye contact with any of the men there. Sensing what was coming, the man sighed and resealed the shot glasses at his waist. Daisuke spoke up once more, voice shaking as he did so. "I'm sorry, Mr. Jemuzu, please don't kill me!"
After that, everything would seem to happen at once. Arakan would throw the remaining sake towards Maku's chest, careful to keep his eyes towards the stranger's neck and chin as he did so. The bottle would sail through the air at a speed of 115- not quite his full speed, but he suspected that Maku wouldn't have any problems with it none the less.
The instant that Daisuke spoke, however, he would cast his mastered 10 meter Great Vortex technique, creating a roaring cyclone that just barely avoided the two of the missingnin. It would be launched diagonally from Daisuke's position towards Maku in such a way that Arakan's extended arm was about a meter away from the vortex.
Should Maku be caught up in it, he would find that in truth, Daisuke's heart wasn't into the attack. No matter how battered or bruised he might be, he would still be alive.
When the Bingo Book Calls (HFE, P) Empty Re: When the Bingo Book Calls (HFE, P)
Fri Oct 18, 2019 5:41 pm
The burn of the sake, the moon above, and good company around......it was once again a reminder of how life outside the Shinobi universe was one that had meaning.  A genuine smile played across Maku’s lips.  “I’m sorry to hear that friend, I’ve lost a lot of people myself.  Mementos are nice, but they never really do more than remind us about what we lost ay?”  Maku would say gently.  It wasn’t his normal voice, the sing song happy go lucky blonde, they were heavy words, full of weight and meaning.  He’d been fighting ghosts so long......it almost felt comforting to speak of someone who fought them as well.
He’d given back the shot glass when the younger boy asked a quick question, but just as Maku was about to answer......he got an all too familiar gut wrenching feeling.  His eyes shifted to red and black, though neither of the two would notice.  That sigh, and then an inhale, exhale, the same kind one did before throwing a shot.......the trembling and lack of eye contact......he’d bore witness to it against himself for years.  Including his earlier interaction with an assassin named Ping.  Damn.......it would have been nice for once......to just make a friend.  His mind opened, almost as if he was seeing things in slow motion, sensing everything around him.
The boy had not given him time to answer before he was already speaking.  Maku’s eyes trained on the higher chakra Shinobi directly in-front of him could see the movement of chakra, the swelling before an attack.  The lad would only just begin to speak before Maku’s own moves were put into motion.  They had done a lot quickly, but so could Maku.
A sharp ringing sound would pierce the air, as the lad had started to speak, the noxious miasma of the mind seeking to nauseate and slow down his would be assassins.  At the exact same time as the ringing, Maku’s already open mouth, from his failed attempt at an answer, would find itself gushing out ash and dust.  The jutsu matched the speed of his opponents, but Maku’s had a shorter range to cover, allowing it to clash into the water vortex before it could harm him.
As for the sake bringers, because of their down trodden eyes, they would not have the heads up on the same level that Maku had.  The ash and dust swiftly attempting to cover and incapacitate the two Shinobi, burning them as they breathed, and hiding Maku within.  While the jutsu would clash and overpower the vortex, the non-chakra infused water would seemingly evaporate as the ash and dust hit it.  Causing all three Shinobi to be momentarily suspended, taking away the ground/water as a spring board for dodging or rushing forward.
His combo was to suspend them briefly to prevent escape, and then encapsulate them in his shroud of fire and ash.  Though, his final move was one that he had mastered prior to even becoming Raikage.  As the ash moved outward and they surely smelled the smoke, the mastered genjutsu choking ability, would prevent them from breathing further, now feeling as though they needed to vomit, and they couldn’t breath.  The jutsu would move out to its maximum distance covering the surface of the lake,  but causing the three Shinobi to have fallen down two meters., water would slowly return, meaning they had to step up as the lake would slowly fill in the evaporated spot. Meaning if the two had become incapacitated they’d soon be covered in water.
The instant the ash left Maku's mouth, Daisuke knew he needed to activate his sensory technique before he'd be rendered blind and scarred. The ringing and sickening feeling in his gut seemed to abate as he activated both Mind's Eye of the Kagura and Chakra Shroud- the ailments were genjutsu. With his high Chakra, he was able to break through both relatively quickly, but at great cost to his reserves. "Genjutsu!" he screeched to his partner... and then he began his descent.
Arakan, concurrently, was not having a good time- he couldn't breathe, he was sick, he was burning alive-- but Maku didn't move, thus he was still in 1 meter of him- taijutsu distance. He released the genjutsu as soon as Daisuke called it out, before launching a skywards kick at Maku's former position. This attack would have 160 speed, and would form a vortex around Maku at 100 power that would restrict his body movements should he not be able to escape. In fact, should he be hit by the kick, he'd find it to be at 140 power- enough to crush his bones if he wasn't careful, as he tumbled downwards.
When the Bingo Book Calls (HFE, P) Empty Re: When the Bingo Book Calls (HFE, P)
Mon Oct 21, 2019 4:14 pm
Thanks to the minds eye being opened, Maku would be able to pinpoint the moment his high chakra foe would begin activating his first jutsu.  Maku’s own jutsu would activate at the same time as the formation of the chakra shroud. A powerful pull would take on both opponents, though due to proximity this would more so act as a further disorienting effect than having real implications.
Due to the timing Daisuke would never be able to utter his warning, his friend still trapped in the debilitating genjutsu along with burning alive, his kick would never come.  Though both would suffer as an explosion ripped through them both. He hadn’t wanted to kill them, but the emotional charge of the whole event, the ghosts of the past, and that desire to once again use the strength he’d earned had been to much, and it had all come out in his signature technique.
The two men regardless would be pushed outwardly at least 50 meters due to the strength of the blast, separating them by several meters as well.  They would now be on the shoreline, though the area had been irrevocably altered by the force of the explosion.
As for Maku, a quick bite and seal saw an enormous toad form beneath him, preventing him from falling further, the ash and dust vanishing as he released the jutsu.  Resting on top of Little Bamba, he’d call out, “Can we please talk about this?”  He wasn’t sure if he’d get an answer, and his minds eye was open waiting to see their response, and to react if anyone should make a hostile move, though he doubted either could possibly be in any shape to continue.  The lake was gone, and the toads Head was above the entrance crater of where the lake had been, standing at its full height.
When the Bingo Book Calls (HFE, P) Empty Re: When the Bingo Book Calls (HFE, P)
Tue Oct 29, 2019 9:36 am
The dust would start to settle, and even still there was silence. The giant frog would move slowly to the edge of the crater, and Maku would leap downward landing on its tongue, which would be moved outwardly so he could step into the edge. It only took a moment to find the two Shinobi. Forming a quick couple seals, several giant foo dogs would form, and rush over wrapping around the younger boy. They would slowly begin draining his energy, preventing him from moving or re-entering the fight.
As for the older man, Maku would proceed to stand over him, looking down. The man’s eyes were open, though unseeing as his body gasped. Leaving down he’d look into the man’s eyes, and activate the Tsukuyomi genjutsu, entering into a world all of the man’s own. It was only a half second in real time, but enough to see everything the man had seen, and everything that he longed for. They were hunter nin, but they wanted to finish the hunt and live out in peace.......one last job....it was an echo of Youka. There never was one last job, not really. Using the genjutsu he’d put the man into a cycle of his happiest memories, allowing him to relive them for what would seem to him as days, even as his body died seconds later. The two shot glasses would fall from the seal, and Maku would pick them up, placing them in his pocket.
Moving over to the younger boy, with his powers drained, the task was easy. He was sturdier than his older comrade, and because of that, he’d likely live. Using the genjutsu barricades he’d piece of information, so that Maku wouldn’t have to look over his shoulder for him, but so the boy could continue to live. His prospects might be slim, but he’d still have them.
The toad would vanish, the Foo dogs would recede into the earth, and Maku would vanish....the chasm would remain, and the boy would awake, alive to the world, not knowing how it had come to be.
