Training while on guard duty
Thu Jan 09, 2014 2:52 pm
Maku was busy guarding the village. His sensei seemed to be MIA at the moment, but since he was a jounin Maku tried not to question it. Since he was gone though someone needed to guard the gates, and Maku was the only ninja left. To augment this normally boring assignment, Maku decided to run sprints around the village. Nothing fancy about it, Maku just ran. Though it did maintain two objectives. By running Maku was working on his endurance and speed. By running around the village, Maku was able to watch around the whole village. Yes some gates had to take time where no one was watching them, but this would happen anyway since Maku was just one person after all. It was a hot day so Maku had worked up a sweat after no time at all with the sun beating down on him. His body was starting to get leaner. He wasn’t exceptionally strong, in fact he was about as average as average was. However with all his speed trainings his body was still lean, and built to move pretty quickly. After making a couple laps around, he resumed his initial post at the main gate, and started stretching out his legs.
Next Maku decided to perform one last training exercise while he was on duty. He leaped up to the top of the gates and leaped back down again. He did this, with explosive actions to increase his speed. After 3 of these repetitions’ Maku stood down by the gate and practiced quick drawing. He would do this by throwing hand signs out to mimic a jutsu. Then he practiced pulling out his harmonica to channel his chakra. These exercises were fairly helpful because if an opponent rushed at him, he wanted to have the abilities to perform a technique to escape or fight back quickly. Though he rarely used it, he also practiced drawing out his Wakizashi from his sheathe on the small of his back. His latest jutsu would stop people in their tracks, and he would be very tired after using any of these jutsu. So he needed another way to finish off enemies without jutsu. Feeling accomplished for the day Maku sat on the warm grass on the left side of the gate. Unlike his master he preferred to rest on the ground by the gate instead of up high. He looked out into the jungle and waited to see if anything of any interest would occur today.
