Furozan was finally given his first mission by the Mizukage and he could not tell if he was excited or not. On the one hand it was nice to finally be chosen for a mission, and on top of that, it was a C rank. The downside was that it was just helping other shinobi repair the village gates. It was not that it was not exciting, well it wasn't, but he had envisioned the life of a shinobi as being filled with adventure and fighting. He guessed he understood, being thrust into a mission where his life could be put in danger was not the ideal way to start his life as a shinobi.

So he did not question it and when he was given the mission he immediately went to meet with the other shinobi. The gates to the village had been ruined and he was to assist in the repairs. Apparently someone got a little too hasty with their training and completely destroyed the gates. The Mizukage mentioned that it could take a few weeks to repair but Furozan hoped it would take less than that.

Once he arrived he was directed by a Jounin to help put poles into place. He was placed with a few other Genin and they got to work. He realized quickly that his never ask questions attitude was not shared by the other genin. They almost felt insulted they were being reduced to helping repair the gates, and Furozan guessed he understood where they were coming from. In his eyes he was just excited to be doing something other than training or being with his mother.

He did not talk much and he only responded to someone when they asked for help. He was not around to make friends. He wanted to get the mission done and get at least one completed mission under his belt. He guessed the other guys did not appreciate him not speaking much because they quickly silenced their complaints and resorted to speaking amongst themselves when Furozan was not around. It did not bug him, he was used to other people singling him out, and in fact he relished in it.

The day quickly grew long and sweat began to form over his brow. He had been digging holes and placing large poles into the ground so that the gates could be mounted properly. He had never thought about how much went into even putting up a gate but, in the long run, it was going to pay off. It made sense, at least to him, a villages defense started with their gate. If there was a huge gap for other shinobi to come through, right away, an attack becomes increasingly easy for someone. Plus it was nice to show a little pride in ones village. Furozan was happy he came from the village hidden in the mist and while it sometimes had negative connotations that came with it, he did not let it bother him.

The day continued to wear on and Furozan continued to do his work. Once all the poles were set he was given another task of helping lift up some of the walls that they were setting in place. Furozan was nowhere near one of the stronger people in the village so he was placed up high with other people who had about the same strength as him. They were all given ropes and they were to hold the walls in place while other, stronger, shinobi put them where they needed to go.

It was interesting to see how the village was up kept. He had never really thought about how things were built and done but now he had his interest peaked. He wanted to read a few books on the history of the village and maybe a few on construction. If he was going to do something he might as well dedicate a little time to it.

The next few hours were a lot harder than the first few. It took almost complete precision by everyone involved to get the walls in place. The people up top had to hold the rope tightly and in place while the people on the bottom had to maneuver everything properly. It took them almost an hour to get the first wall set, but things went much smoother after that, once everyone had everything all figured out.

Before Furozan knew it the day was coming to an end. Night was coming and most of the other shinobi were funneling out. Furozan made a point of staying until the last person left so that maybe he would get a little notice. He did get a few pats on the back and good jobs but nothing too special. He did not expect to be praised as the next great wall builder or anything, but he had to say, he was impressed with the work he had accomplished.

Once everyone had pretty much left Furozan decided it was time to go. But not before admiring all the work he had accomplished. He stood outside the gate with a satisfied smile on his face and looked over the gates. They were not done yet, but he felt like they could finish the next day. When he was convinced there was nothing more he could do, he left, and was ready to report in his first mission.

Mission Name: Missing Lunch
Rank: C
Type: Intel
Character Requirements: None
Word Count Requirements: 600
Repeatable? Yes
Reward: 700 Ryo

Task:
Someone has been stealing food from both the members of the village,
citizen and shinobi alike, and the shops. Find out who said person is
and report who the person is, and where he is hiding. Make sure to not
be caught or else the person may run.

His next mission came rather quickly after his first. He had spoken with a few of the jounin who had been around when he had completed his first mission and they assured him that they had mentioned his name to the Mizukage. They had been impressed enough to send him on another C rank mission and it was going to be more exciting then the last. This time he was going to be able to formulate and carry out a plan completely on his own and without anyone watching over him.

Granted, it was just finding a thief who had been stealing, but it was better than the physical labor he had to do last time. Furozan set out right away and began to ask around at all of the shops where things had been stolen from. He did not get many leads on the situation and after he had questioned all the shop owners he was nowhere closer getting to his goal than he had been when he started. Everyone told him the same thing, whoever was stealing, had been covering his tracks pretty well.

Furozan decided that the only way he was going to get anywhere was to hide out and catch him, or her, red handed in the act. So he wasted no time and found a good spot that gave him a good view of most of the shops. He would be able to conceal his location with the Hidden Mist technique. It was not uncommon for the village to be shrouded in mist so Furozan was just going to enhance the spots around him.

Nightfall came quickly and nothing seemed out of place. Furozan had no problem waiting in places for long periods of time. He brought a few books to keep himself busy while he waited, but once night came, the action started. All of the shops were closed at this point and the streets were empty besides a few people shuffling back and forth from their homes.

Barely he heard footsteps and a window being slid open. This was it, Furozan was going to figure out who the thief was. Carefully, and using the mist as cover, he got closer so that he could get a good look at the thief. He was completely unaware that Furozan was there and he went to putting things into his pack. Furozan watched as he shoved as much food as he could fit into his pack. Once he was finished he crawled out of the window.

Furozan stayed close behind him and followed him all the way back to wherever he was going. The man walked into a house and Furozan approached once he was inside. So, this was where the thief lived. Furozan, being satisfied, left the scene and decided he would report his findings in the morning. But, as he was leaving, something happened.

A light flicked on inside of the house and Furozan could not help but peak in. What he saw made his gut drop. The man was smiling and his kids where cheering at the fact that he had food. There were five children and they all looked quite impoverished. The man was stealing food for his family.

Furozan could do nothing but stand there and stare into the window. The man being discovered would surely ruin him. His children would be taken away and he would be imprisoned. Furozan did not agree with the rules on stealing, but the village was much harsher than they should of been. But who was he to be the mediator, it was his job to report it, if he did not he would be ruined.

He finally snapped himself out of it and he averted his gaze from the window. He was a shinobi now, he was going to have to do things he did not agree with to make it, it was the way of the world. He took one last look at the family and he jumped away from the house. He had to report it, it was his mission, and the mission came before his feelings.

Task:
There have been reports that there have been animal fights somewhere in
the village, your job is to find out where the arena for the fights are
and to investigate it, try not to be caught.

Furozan's last mission had went off without a hitch. Well at least if you looked at it from the Mizukages view point. It had been quite the moral dilemma to report the man who had been stealing from the villagers. He explained the situation to the higher ups but they brushed it off like it wasn't a problem. Furozan understood, and he had enjoyed the praise, but he could not help but think of the man. Maybe he should have warned him? He tried to forget about it because dwelling on the past got him nowhere.

He had a new mission now, and that was to find a group holding animal fights. Hopefully, knock on wood, he would not have to take down any people with ulterior motives. He had decided that getting to know his targets did nothing good for his missions, so now everyone was nothing more than a target. His job was his job and he could not let it effect him emotionally.

Clues to nowhere, that was what he was used to by now. It seemed like everyone in the village knew nothing, or at least pretended to know nothing, and he got nowhere. At first at least. "I am looking for information on some animal fights." The man behind the stand was cleaning a glass and he practically ignored Furozan. "I don't know anything, and if you are going to come in here looking for trouble, you can just turn around and leave." He put the glass down and he leaned on the counter giving Furozan an aggressive look. Furozan nodded his head "No trouble, just digging for information."

Someone caught him out of the corner of his eye and his head snapped over. There was a man who had been staring at him and his head snapped the other way. Furozan tapped the counter and then headed in the mans direction. As soon as he realized he had been spotted, he jumped up from his chair, and sprinted out the door. "Stop!" Furozan shouted and he took off after the man. He was quick, but Furozan was much quicker. He leaped into the air and he came crashing down on top of the man. Quickly, his katana was out, and placed at the man's throat.

"Tell me what you know." Furozan spoke calmly but he kept the blade firmly pressed against the mans throat. He struggled at first, but he eventually looked up at Furozan wide eyed and afraid. "I don't know anything!" Furozan rolled his eyes and he lifted his sword high into the air in a threatening manner. "Please, really, NO AHH!" His sword came swinging down and stopped right in front of the mans face. "Tell me what you know or I won't hesitate to kill you right here."

"Ok! Ok! Fine, I will tell you. They have been having fights in different areas every night to throw the guards off. They have a few different buildings but I can give you the location of their next fight, just please, don't kill me." Furozan stared at him for a few more moments before he placed his katana back into its hilt. He bent down so that his face was close to the man's, mulling the entire situation over before he responded. "Give me the location and a name." The man stammered "I don't have a name, I have just been invited, here.... look." He pulled out a scroll and shakily handed it to Furozan.

He unrolled it and glanced over it. It gave the location, a list of the fights, and how much it cost. He rolled the scroll back up and placed it in his pocket. He extended his hand and he helped the man to his feet. "Scram." Furozan said coldly to the man. He nodded his head and he sprinted off. The information he had would be enough to shut down the little group. They would swarm them, make their arrests, and be done with it. Simple enough of a mission, and he did not feel bad afterwards.

Furozan made sure he was there the night the group was taken down. He did not get picked to be part of the team that finished the operation, but he was at least present when it happened. He did not see the man who he had roughed up but he did see a few people he knew when he was younger. It almost felt good to stand in front of them, a ninja, and see them get busted. He had always been one of the smaller people, but he had more fight in him than most, and he took pride in that. Being the last one standing, always.

Task: Reports have come in on something or someone lurking in the sewers, investigate to make sure everything is alright.

Furozan's ability to investigate things was certainly being noticed lately. Anytime a person needed to be sought out, he seemed to be given the mission, and they were steadily getting harder, which Furozan enjoyed. The fact that he was now being given a B-Rank mission meant that the Mizukage, at least a little bit, trusted Furozan with more pertinent information. His first three C-rank missions had all been a success, even if he did not like how the first mission turned out in the end.

"Are you going to be out late?" His mother asked as he was walking out the door. She was becoming more and more accepting of his choice to become a shinobi. It had taken some time to convince her he was not going to get hurt, and he knew she still did not fully trust him, but he had been getting praise recently and he could tell that she liked hearing that her son was doing well, even if it was by doing something she did not approve of. "There is a chance I could be gone all night." He waited for her to reprimand him or give him a lecture, but she just shook her head, and went back to reading. It shocked Furozan that she did not say anything, but he did not want to risk it, so he walked out the door.

It did not take him long to get to the sewers. Furozan had always known the sewers were there but he had never actually thought of going down into them. The smell was what hit him first and he almost threw up when the smell hit him. He quickly reached into his pockets and pulled out a small mask that he had been given when he was given the mission. Without wasting anymore time, he jumped down into the sewers, and latched on to a pipe. He landed quietly and did not move for a few seconds, giving himself a chance to get used to the layout and adjust his eyes. He heard no movement and did not think he had been discovered. It was harder to use the mist technique inside because it would alert whoever it was inside that he was coming for him.

He moved with complete silence through the sewers, checking every corner that someone could be hiding in. The mission was given B rank because no one was sure if the person in the sewer was violent or not. Plus he was more supposed to be investigating and not engaging in the enemies. As far as he could tell there was no one even in the sewers. That was what he thought for only a few more seconds as he felt his foot get ripped out from under him. Furozan was caught off guard and almost smashed his face on the drain pipe he was running on. Luckily his reflexes were better than that and he caught himself and somersaulted through the air. He turned around and planted his foot on the pipe and came to a stop.

He did not have much time to stop, though, as a kunai came flying through the air in his direction. Furozan pulled his katana out as quickly as he could and blocked the incoming kunai. He stood where he was and kept his eyes peeled, trying to see if he could spot the man. He was obviously trained and knew what he was doing. Furozan may have been in way over his head. He was in the sewers completely alone with a shinobi whose skill level Furozan was unsure of. "What do you want?" the mans voice rang out. Furozan did not respond at first. "I have been sent by the Mizukage to figure out why you are down here. Why are you down here?" The man laughed as soon as Furozan was finished. "I don't answer to the Mizukage."

Furozan was almost completely caught off guard when the drain pipe was completely obliterated from under him. He had been using a clone to speak to him and he had sneaked under Furozan. He was wielding a large shuriken type weapon. He slashed upwards at Furozan and he felt the blade fly in front of his face as he backflipped away from the attack. His katana blocked the second strike mid flip. Furozan decided to land on the ground this time to see how he attacked. He was very aggressive and as Furozan landed the man was already in his face slashing down with his weapon. Furozan shot his katana up to block his attack and he felt just how strong the man was. Furozan's arms almost gave out as it came down hard.

The man backed up and Furozan took the chance to make a clone while he was away. He through a kunai and as the man went to block it, Furozan created his clone, and he jumped above again. It was rest he was going to need, but the other fighter was aggressive, so Furozan was not going to have much time. He had to formulate a plan quickly. Luckily, the man fell for the bait, and he charged the clone. Furozan could either drown the man or try and take him head on. He had to think fast. He landed and he sheathed his katana. The man slashed right through his shadow clone and as soon as he realized he had been duped, it was too late. "Water Style: Wild Water Wave!" The hand signals had been used in the few moments in between the man attacking his clone and Furozan landing. He felt the chakra build up in his mouth and he unleashed as much as his body would allow.

The sewer filled faster than Furozan had expected and without so much as a yell the man vanished in front of Furozan. He continued his assault until Furozan was sure he was washed to the other side or would have drowned if he had not found a way out. Either was it was going to give Furozan plenty of time to escape. He needed to report back and tell the Mizukage what he had found. They would send a group of Anbu into the sewers. Once Furozan had given the man enough, he stopped the jutsu, and he turned and fled the scene. He remembered exactly how to get out of the sewers, he had to escape without being caught. He made it back to the village without being noticed and he reported what he had found out.
