Some Days you Just Train Empty Some Days you Just Train

Sun Apr 15, 2012 10:59 pm
To say that the sea was his home was a bit of an understatement. The sounds of the waves crashing signified that he was at the one place that made him feel alive. One of the few places where the world stopped being so harsh, and instead, was beautiful and fascinating. The pack he brought with him was starting to get heavier on his shoulders. He had decided he was going to take an entire day to train various things. He was not usually one to incorporate so many different things into a day. He always thought that doing to much was often times worse than taking it slow, but today he was feeling good and he did not care.

He brought a few things in his bad to train that included his Katana, some weights for his arms and ankles, a change of clothes, some water to hydrate himself and to practice some new Jutsus, as well as his fishing pole. He looked forward to the end of the day when he would have some time to just sit on the beach and cast his pole out. It was not often that he caught anything on the shoreline, but it was nice to just be there.

When he reached the beach he sat his bag down and then stripped himself of all of his clothing besides his swimming gear. Swimming in the ocean was often times rough, especially on a day like the one he was witnessing when the surf was getting very high. He had been swimming in the sea for as long as he could remember. He learned how to swim in the same ocean he stood before now and now he was using it as a means to boost his cardio.

He wasted no time as he waded into the sea until it was up to his waist, and then he plunged in without a second thought. The beginning of the swim was easy, but it was after he had been in for awhile that things started to become more of a hassle. His arms grew tired from stroking and his legs from kicking, but when it hurt he kept going. It wasn't until he was starting to choke on the water from barely being able to keep his head above water that he decided to head back in.

The swim back in was much more arduous than he anticipated. His arms had grown so tired that he could barely get them to move and his legs barely fluttered. The surf was doing most of the work now, Furozan found himself riding the waves as best as he could until he could stand up. The decision to go so far out was instantly something he regretted and as soon as he made it back to the sand, he collapsed face first on the beach.

He laid there until his panting subsided, which seemed like it was taking forever. When he had rested for as long as he needed to, he pushed himself up and grabbed his bag and pulled out the water he had brought with him. It took every bit of his restraint to keep from chugging the entire thing, and when he had his fill he through it back into his bag.

He kept a little bit in his mouth so that he could practice a technique he had been trying to master for a few months now. The Hidden Mist Technique was something that was special to ninjas from Kirikakure, and Furozan had been very excited to learn it. He remembered his father showing it to him when he was little and playfully sneaking up on Furozan when the mist appeared. He quickly pushed the thoughts of his father from his head and focused on using the jutsu.

The water from the sea and the water in his mouth made the move much easier to use. He quickly used the hand signs necessary and then spit the water from his mouth, creating a thick fog all around him. It was not the greatest attempt at the move, but if anyone had been sparring with him, he would have been able to vanish from their sight and regain himself, which could be key in a battle situation.

He did the move one more time after the first, this time creating a very thin mist for him to hide in. He was unpleased with the move, but he was running low on chakra, and decided it best to leave it be for now. Tiring himself out was not exactly the best way to train. He could probably have used the technique one more time, but it would have drained him to the point of almost passing out, and he had to many other things to do.

Once he was done with that, he moved on to his Katana. Sword play was one of his favorite things to do, but he did not get to practice with other people much. Most of his time was spent going over certain combos and routines. He considered it to be like dancing, using very fluid moves and trying to predict what the other person was going to do. He had sparred a few times with other people and he knew that practicing and actual sword play where two very different things.

His brow began to sweat as he did move after move on an invisible opponent. Though there was no one there, he did not practice any less furiously. He was not one to take things for granted and he always acted like it was a life or death situation. His arms began to grow tired, but he did not falter, keeping his arms up despite the pain they felt.

After a few hours of going over things with the Katana in his hands, his body was exhausted. He collapsed on the beach and could only watch as the sun began to set. After a few minutes of rest, his body was rejuvinated by the thought of fishing. Quickly, he jumped up from his spot on the ground and grabbed his pole and cast out into the ocean. It had been a good day of training, but now it was perfect.

Some Days you Just Train Empty Re: Some Days you Just Train

Mon Apr 16, 2012 7:04 pm
Furozan awoke the next day more sore than he had been in a long time. His arms and legs ached from the swimming and it felt like his chakra had even taken a hit. Getting out of bed was one of the hardest things he could think of and it took him almost thirty minutes to even consider the prospect of training again. None the less, with great effort, he let out a moan and rolled out of his bed almost crashing hard on the floor.

It took him way to long to get ready for his training session, but after an hour or so, he felt more hyped up about it. He was happy with how his hidden mist technique had worked the day before and he was going to give it another go today. He wanted to focus more on his jutsus and getting more in tune with his chakra on this particular day. He hoped the sea was calm so that he would have no problems walking out on the water, if it was rough, he would just go to one of the small lakes near his home.

He did not bring as much as he did the day before, not even his fishing poles, he wore only what he was going to be training in. He tinkered with the prospect of doing some more sword training, but he was so tired he doubted he would get to that so he just left it there. After a quick stretching session he took off at a very light jog towards the sea and enjoyed the cool sea air. It was still a little chilly from the morning air, but that was how he liked it. He hated the heat with a passion and was happy he lived near the sea.

It seemed to take him no time and by the time he reached the sea, his body was much more loose and ready to take on the day. The sun was higher in the air and beating down on him, much hotter than the day before. He ignored it and wondered what he was going to do to start the day off.

Something he had not practiced much since learning it in academy was walking up things. The cliffs near the sea provided a pretty rocky area to climb, but it was not the safest of places to do it. He was used to it though and he found that when he practiced scaling the side of a cliff, going up a tree was ten times easier. So he took the time to feel the chakra go to his feet and then he took off.

It always took a considerable amount of concentration when he first started to climb. The first few steps were always a little rough, but after a few steps, he gained confidence and started to get into the stride of things. Before long, he was walking up the cliff with ease and before he knew it he was halfway up the cliff. Some people said to never look down when they were really high in the air, but Furozan loved being up high. The higher he went up the cliff, the bigger the smile on his face. The adrenaline that came with being so high in the air made him completely forget about the soreness from the day before.

When he reached the top he took a quick breather by sitting down and looking out at the ocean. He was a good one hundred feet up and the feeling of letting his feet dangle from so high up made him happy. He loved to be in high places, but he never really found himself up high that often. He made a note to try and start off every training session as such.

After a good ten minutes, he decided to go back down. Going down was usually the hardest part for people, but it was Furozans favorite. He loved seeing the ground being so far away, though he always hated when he got to the bottom. It did not take him quite as long to get started this time because he was already warmed up from it, and before he knew it he was down at the bottom of the cliff. Once there, he turned around to see how high he went up, and he gave himself a little nod of congratulations.

The day was still young, but he decided to take a quick break. He realized he had not brought any food or water and he was going to have to take a trip back into town. He was not worried about it though, he had not spent too much time doing the beginning and it was still early morning. He would have plenty of time to run into town, eat some food and grab some water, and head back and get plenty more training done.

Some Days you Just Train Empty Re: Some Days you Just Train

Wed Apr 18, 2012 10:38 pm
Furozan spent more time in town than he originally intended to. When he got back into town the first thing he did was run home where his mother had made lunch. This surprised Furozan because she was usually out in town at this time and she had not made him lunch in a long time. Never the less, the fact that she had done this, made him stay around and talk for longer than he had expected.

Once he was finished his mother asked if he could do some work around the house. Of course he obliged which took up even more time. He ended up cutting the entire yard and helping his mother with her garden. They did not talk much, but he had to admit, it was nice getting to spend time with her. Despite this, his mind was on training, which was obvious by how fidgety he was becoming. His mother must have took notice, because not soon after she dismissed him, and he took off back to the sea.

Once back, he found himself stretching again, the sea had picked up its ferocity and it did not look quite as easy as it did before. He silently wished he had practiced walking on water before he had climbed the cliffs. The cliffs were always the same while the waves on the sea varied. He was going to have to exert more chakra than he was expecting, but the toll it took would be nice, he needed all the practice he could get.

He took a few moments to gather himself. He concentrated hard, getting his mind off of everything else that had been bugging him, and focused only on the task at hand. He found that he was rather good at getting focused very quickly, especially when it came to something as serious as his training. He knew a few people who did not take training seriously, and it showed when they would take their exams. Furozan was very serious, even from a young age, and he showed that he was one of the better students from the academy. He still had much to prove though.

After his thoughts were in the right place, he began to send the proper amount of chakra to his feet, with a little extra due to the current movement of the ocean. He had walked on the water like this before, but it had not been fun, almost being swept away by the tides. He was more confident in himself now rather than before when he had been filled with nervousness.

He waded out into the water until it was in the middle of his shins, and when he got to a comfortable spot, he lifted his foot up and slowly placed it down. As he expected, it touched the water but did not go under, and then he stood up and brought his other foot with it. He stood still on top of the water, feeling himself move up and down with the tide. He outstretched his hands and he let out a sigh of relief and then closed his eyes.

For a few moments he let his thoughts drift off and he reclused into his own little world. He let nothing go through his head but the sound of the oceans waves hitting the shore and feeling the ocean move beneath his feet. He opened his eyes and he stared out into the Sea, wondering were it ended, but at the same time wanting to believe it never ended. It was very hot out, but even that could not bother him, and if he liked smiling he would have been at that moment.

After a good few minutes of standing in place he began to walk around. His balance was a little off due to the waves but after a few steps he began to get used to it. Eventually his walking became faster and he became more confident on the waves. He really felt like he was one with the water and he could feel his confidence rising. Every day he trained he could feel himself getting stronger.

Being on the waves and feeling so confident made Furozan want to practice a technique he had been learning. He decided he was going to get off of the water and go to an area where he was up to about his knees in water. He did not want to waste too much chakra while he was on the water while doing a jutsu at the same time. His chakra was not exactly getting low, but he did not want to kill himself either, if he did not have too.

Once in a calmer area of the sea, he stood in position to do the jutsu he had been working on. The Wild Water Wave was a move his father had often showed him when he was younger. He remembered being very little, he had to be because he was actually happy, when his mother and father were playing with him in their yard. He had used the jutsu on him on a hot day to cool him down while Furozan ran through it happily. He barely put any chakra into it, so the move had little to no power behind it.

He concentrated again for a few moments, giving himself some time to clear his mind again, and he went over the hand signs in his head a few times. His mind worked very rapidly, so when he was about to use a move, he often played it out in his head many times before he actually used it. He wanted to make sure that every hand sign was right on the money and that he did not screw anything up. Perfection was what he strove for. Some said it was impossible, so why not try and prove everyone wrong?

Finally, he opened his eyes, and he did the hand signs he was supposed to. "Water Style: Wild Water Wave!" He shouted probably a little louder than he should have. Moments after his mouth had shut, the wave came flowing out of his mouth. He had not put too much power into it, not wanting to exhaust any more chakra than he had to, but it was still enough to stir up sand on the beach. He did the move for just over three seconds and then shut his mouth.

It always felt weird having water spew out of his mouth, but at the same time, it was amazing to be able to have that ability. He knew many kids around his age who could not get near to touching that move, and he did it with relative ease. He always felt like he had a good control over his chakra, and often wondered if he had more than other people, or if it was just because he trained more.

After a few more minutes of rest, he set himself up again, going over the hand signs in his head again. He did not spend as much time this time, mostly because he was more confident now, and then he did the proper hand signs except more quickly this time. "Water Style: Wild Water Wave!" He shouted again, the same process happening over, except this time a little more powerful. It was noticeably stronger this time, coming out of his mouth at a much quicker speed and hitting the ground with more force.

After a few more seconds, he closed his mouth, and almost collapsed into the sea. The second attempt had drained him much more than the first time. He could feel that his chakra was getting almost depleted. It was amazing how fast his body went from feeling full of energy to drained. His arms hung by his side and he could barely stand for a few moments.

After a few seconds, the fatigue started to wear off, and he trudged out of the sea and fell to the ground. He found himself on his back staring up at the sky with the sea lapping against his feet. Though he was tired, drained of chakra, and could barely move, he was satisfied with the way the day had went. He was getting noticeably stronger, and that was what he had been chasing. He knew he was a long way away from becoming a powerful ninja, but he was at the beginning of his journey.

He laid in the sand for about thirty more minutes, enjoying the rest, but he knew it had to come to an end soon. When the sun started to go down, he picked himself up, and headed back home. He wondered if his mother had made supper for them or not, because the training had left him starving. Either way, he would be happy knowing that he had not wasted his day.

Once home he found a bowl of food left out on the table but his mother was nowhere to be found. He sat down and ate his food as fast as possible and then ran up to his room. After cleaning himself up, he fell face down on the bed, intending to read a book before he went to sleep. Too tired to lift his arms, he found himself drifting off to sleep not even five seconds after he hit the mattress.

Some Days you Just Train Empty Re: Some Days you Just Train

Wed Apr 18, 2012 11:12 pm
It was two days before Furozan was up for training again. The prior day had definitely taken its toll on him, and it showed, when he slept for fourteen hours straight. His mother just let him sleep because she knew how tired he was. At first, he had been angry when she did not wake him, but when he went to crawl out of bed he knew exactly why she did. His body ached all over and there was no way he was going to get any training done, at least for the day.

So instead of training physically, he decided to keep his mind right, and read a few books on jutsus and certain battle strategies. His entire morning was dedicated to reading books and letting his muscles rest. The afternoon was a bit of a different story. His mother asked if he would go shopping with her, and he obliged, because he knew she could not carry as much stuff as he could.

The second half of his day was listening to his mother talk about different foods and how to cook them. Honestly, Furozan had never been too into cooking, but he pretended to listen to make her feel better. She knew him better than anyone, and to a lot of people, it would have looked like a crazy woman rambling to someone who had zoned her out years ago. His mother learned, though, that Furozan listened to everything even if he did not look like he was.

After that, the rest of his day went normally and he went to sleep. The next day was filled with chores and running around, so Furozan had no time to train. Though, the entire day, his mind was drifting to what he could be doing. He had decided that his next day of training was going to be dedicated to getting his speed and stamina up. His breath was getting a little short and he figured he could use a long jog to clear his mind.

He woke up early the next morning, ready to run until his legs couldn't stand it anymore. He grabbed a pack and put some ankle weights and wrist weights in it and then took off on a jog. He took the long way and it was not long into his trip that he started to pant. He had decent stamina, but he was certainly no distance runner. He had been wanting to pick it up after seeing some of the speed of a few people he knew. He had always been jealous of people who could move very fast. His small legs prevented it from being a natural thing, but he could train it.

The sun was still coming up just halfway through his jog and he realized it was going to be another long day. He did not care though, he quite enjoyed days like these, they always made him feel accomplished at the end of the day. In his mind, people were only given so much time to live, why not spend the time one has and use it wisely. Furozan did not believe in wasting days, even the days prior had their points, and that was to recover.

After what seemed like forever, which was actually an hour and a half, he finally reached where he was going to be training. Picking his speed up was something he had been wanting to do for awhile, so he was quite excited about his training, though he was certainly not used to it.

When he got to the right area, he dropped the bag from off his shoulder, feeling a huge weight drop. His body felt so much lighter than it had the past hour and a half, but that was not to last long, because as soon as he pulled his pack off he pulled the weights out and put them on. He slapped ten pound weights to his wrists and fifteen pounds to his ankles. He took a few moments to get used to the weights, and then went about his routine.

He went over combo punches and kicks with the weights on him. His punches and kicks were much slower than usual, but that much was to be expected, especially with weights on. Still, he was impressed with how well he was doing, and he went on for much longer than expected. He felt weird punching the air with the weights on, but that did not matter to him. He kept going for a good ten minutes before his arms collapsed to his side.

He fell to the ground and gave himself a quick breather. He did not want to waste too much time though, the next part was the fun part. After he got his breath back, he stood back up and got down in a ready position like he was about to race. Sprints were a good way to get his speed up, especially with weights on, but they were the most physically draining.

He wasted no time in starting his sprints. He took off and ran at one hundred percent for as long as he could, and when his body got tired, he tried to keep going. He only stopped when his legs literally gave out and he fell over. When he would fall, he would give himself only a minute to breath, and then he got up and repeated the process. He found himself getting further and further down the beach as he went, his sprints lasting shorter and shorter each time.

He did this until his body could literally take no more stress. When it got to this point it was when he tapped into his chakra. He could prolong his stamina, just long enough, to get back to where he started thanks to the chakra he had been saving. It would waste his chakra down, but he was not planning on using any this day, so he did not mind.

He gave himself a few moments to collect himself and then he took off back the way he came. He could feel his body trying to reject the chakra, but he forced it to obey. Instead of stopping every so often, he wanted to press his body to the limit, and run the entire way back. His chakra was rapidly depleting, but his determination was stronger than that, and he kept going. He could barely feel his entire body now it was so numb from the stress he was putting on it.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, he found himself back at where he started. With his body almost depleted of energy, chakra, and the will to go on, he fell face first in the sand. He was not sure how long he stayed there, could have been minutes, could have been hours, but eventually he came back too. He rolled over on his back, his muscles aching from head to toe, he wondered why he had pressed himself so hard.

He laid there trying to convince himself to get up for the longest time. The walk back home sounded miserable to him and it did not help that his stomach was growling harder than it ever had before. Food was the last thing on his mind, the only thing he wanted was to get into some warm water and let his muscles soak for the next forever.

With great effort, he pushed himself up and put the weights back in the pack. The trek home took much longer than it normally did and he could not even make it up the stairs. He found a seat in the living area and immediately fell on it. It took him no time to fall asleep and it was one of the best sleeps he had ever had.

Some Days you Just Train Empty Re: Some Days you Just Train

Wed Dec 26, 2012 2:21 pm
His training had stalled greatly since his mother grew ill. He could feel it in his body that he was not as fast or as strong as he had been even a few weeks earlier. He knew when to prioritize, though, so taking care of his mother had been a no brainer. She did not exactly approve of his ninja training, she did not want to lose him like she had lost her husband, but the fact was that he was going to become a legendary ninja.

He was not exactly on the right path, though, so he had to get back to it. He had completed zero missions thus far and he was getting lapped by other people his age, and some even younger for that matter, and he hated watching it happen. He knew he was strong and he knew he could become one of Kirigakure's elite ninja. His dream was to become one of the legendary swordsmen, but that was so far from his mind at the moment he could not even think about it.

He put on his training gear, packed a pack full of all the necessary items, and he took off. He considered himself to be in pretty good shape, but very early on in his run, he felt himself getting winded. He cursed himself for not, at the very least, going out and jogging every morning. It hit him just how out of shape he really was and it hit him fast. Before he knew it he was gasping for breath and he thought his body was going to give out.

He continued on, though, refusing to let it bother him. In fact he took the long way to the sea so that he could get that extra boost in his stamina. He found himself climbing the side of mountains and jumping from rock to rock. The longer he went the more tired he became, but he refused to give up, he had committed to running to the sea and going the hard way and he would not stop until he had reached his destination.

He found it sad that he was already going to be winded once he reached the training grounds, but that would not stop him, he had a new jutsu to learn. The water clone technique was one of the most common amongst the ninja from the Hidden Mist so he felt like he should know it also. His wild water wave technique was still being mastered but he could afford to learn a new jutsu. It was not going to be hard considering he was quite skilled at making clones already and having one made of water, and having good control over water, would certainly make for an easy jutsu.

He leaped to a rock but he did not land like he wanted and his foot slipped and he toppled to his face. He had to ignore the pain and catch onto another rock to keep himself from tumbling to his certain death at the bottom of the mountain. His pack slipped in the process of falling and it fell from his shoulders and toppled back down the mountain. Furozan cursed loudly and he pulled himself to a sitting position.

Ignoring his unwavering desire to get more air into his lungs he stared down at where his pack landed and prepared to climb back down the mountain and retrieve it. He was mostly filled with shame at the fact that he could not even take the long route to the sea without taking forever. He quickly forgot about his self pity and he returned to his feet so that he could go back down.

The trip down the mountain was even harder that the trek up. It was much easier for his hands to latch onto things than his feet and it took him even longer to climb back down. He could have just walked down the side of the mountain with the aide of chakra, but this was about using nothing but his willpower and personal strength then using chakra. It made for a great training session.

He finally reached the bottom and he slung his pack back over his shoulders and he looked back up at the mountain. The sea was just on the other side and he could easily go around the mountain and get to training, but that was not an option in his mind, he had to go up and over. He stopped debating it and he took off up the mountain, clearing his mind and trying to ignore the pain that was filling his entire body. He was going to be sore tomorrow.

The climb took much longer than it had the first time. His hands could barely latch onto rocks and pulling himself up was one of the hardest things he had done in recent memory. There were a few times where he almost gave up and just used chakra to climb the mountain, but he did not fault. Even though it was taking him forever and most of the day was being wasted, he wanted to accomplish this one little thing.

His vision was blurring from the climb and he could barely feel his arms because they were numb from being used so heavily. His body was not used to this, he had been doing nothing but fishing and reading books while his mother was sick. Even the prospect of fishing seemed atrocious to him at the moment. He wanted to lay down, even on the jagged rocks, and sleep until his body decided it was time to wake up.

Just when things were getting their worst, he reached the top, and he let out a sigh of relief. The trek was not over, but the hard part was done. He fought back the urge to rest and he continued one, being sure to watch his steps as he jumped from rock to rock. It seemed like forever but eventually the waves crashing against the shore came into view and he knew he had made it. It saddened him to know that the training was just beginning but there were only a few hours left in the day. He would get a little training in and then return home. The next day, though, he would take the easy route. If he could even get out of bed that was.
