CE: Nero and Hayate vs. Hato and Masashi

As appropriate, as soon as Kiri moved, all hell broke loose.  Hayate wouldn't have it any other way.

The girl barely moved out of the way, her speed barely clearing the shuriken by a milmeter.  It sliced the topmost button clean off, releasing some of the stress the shirt was under and causing a not unpleasant shift of the contents.

The opposing boy, however, was too focused on Nero and never noticed the shuriken.  It slammed into him, a solid, direct hit as aimed

Meanwhile, hato had dodged the shuriken and formed a genjutsu, then began running forward.

Hayate had prepare to circle his opponents, but at the first sign of a handseal from his closest target, a dome of gigantic thorns sprung into being all around him, arresting his movement just as he followed the earlier plan to draw the fuuma shuriken into his right hand, emptying his back.  Another senju wood release, like his first exam?  He didn't have time to contemplate the issue as he gripped his sword hilt with his left hand and drew in a breath, activating his body is a weapon booster and preparing to cut his way out.  No thorns could stand before his sword.

But just like that, he didn't need to.  The Chakra stabilizer on his back kicked into gear even faster than it had in round one, now acclimatized and fully integrated with his modified chakra system.  It provided a sudden boost of chakra that cleared the thorns, revealing the aftermath of the shuriken hit behind a charging whip wielding manic.

Without wasting a beat, Hayate knew what to do here.  He had attacks to dodge, sharp objects in his hands, and an opponent in front to use them on.  They were fully aware and attacking him, and he wouldn't hold back like on that kid in the forest.

He blurred in a ducking dodge to his right, a split second reaction, making any attack masashi might have made and he might not have noticed miss by a little over a meter (215 speed, 300 RT).  The motion then extended into a spring toward hato, who was just starting to swing her whip from her right side, as he threw the two Fuuma shuriken from his right hand, the pair separating slightly, on paths to stick in either shoulder of the girl, most likely disabling both arms (and causing a LOT of pain). (speed 200, sharp a little over 175, can get exact if needed)

He wasn't done.  Hand on hilt, as the fuuma shuriken sped toward his opponents shoulders, he would dash in on the opposite side of hato from the whip attack, easily passing by the slower motion without it coming close to him.  Staying out of the way of his own fuuma shuriken, he would aim for a finishing blow.

His blade would track across the girls midriff as he passed by her on his right(her left) opening a line of red (speed 225).  He continued past her, just as he was past caring about the pain he caused, of wondering it if was right or worth it.  His stoic face was a reflection of him playing his role as a cog in the great machine of Kiri, nothing more.

After successfully dodging a shuriken and landing a genjutsu on Hayate, Cero, Nero's clone appeared right behind her with a flicker of a movement. She also heard the shuriken make a soild strike only a mere meter away. Luckily for Hato, since Cero was right behind her, she'd hear his breath and movement, not to mention his chakra presence. She shift her gaze to the left to check if it wasn't just Masashi getting too close. Sure enough, it wasn't because a hand was gliding on over to her neck. She was able to comprehend the attack and ducked down, just below Cero's palm. While she ducked, she would attempt to jab her elbow left elbow into his rib at full force, adding a bit of chakra absorption to the hit to rejuvenate her chakra slightly. If contact was made, it would break the clone's ribs. Of course, she didn't know it was a clone, so it wouldn't kill, just incapacitate.

Whether she hit in or not, she'd notice Hayate slicing while ducked down at the air and realized that she couldn't have two people from behind her and dodge from the front if he broke out. Which he did. Hato would blow a poisonous mist at a speed of 45 and a power of 45. The mist starts at 5 meter in width and only grow from there. This was so she'd have a wall to protect herself from on coming Hayate's and it would allow temporary blindness to the situation on her end. At this time, she'd also release Mind's eye of kaguya, which would pick all chakras. This is also when she notices Hayate's out of the genjutsu.

OCC:

The shuriken had hit Masashi, and Cero was in position at roughly the same time. Chakra sensory would passively not give away Cero's direction to Hato, and Cero was not walking, or taking another action that would make much sound. Hato would take time to notice breathing of all things in this chaotic battlefield, shuriken hitting her friend, her buttons being broken. Either way, Hato, already slower than Cero, would have been too late to "dodge" out of the way of the jab - but she didn't even do that, just crouching a few centimeters, an act which Cero's hand would follow easily, making contact and knocking Hato out.

But that didn't happen either... At the speed of things, neither Hato nor Cero could have reacted to the fuuma shuriken flying their way. Cero's arm now in Hato's personal space, one of the fuuma shuriken would hit him, as both of them hit Hato. The clone would be dispersed, Hato knocked out of the fight.

(If Hato did manage to crouch low enough to avoid the Fuuma shuriken altogether, so would Cero's arm, which would catch up to Hato easily with her awkward position, knocking her out, and poofing out of existence after having done its job)

Nero would notice what went down. The Yuki would then speak, "What the hell, Hayate? You wanna fight ME? You wanna DIE?". He then drew a kunai and threw it to a point on the ground 10cm away from Hayate's feet. It was a warning shot. The Yuki and his one remaining clone looked at Hayate with anger.

For some reason or another, he didn’t notice the shuriken until it had impacted with his abdomen and travelled through him. Not a fatal wound, but it would normally take someone out. Luckily for Masashi, his Uzumaki blood refusing to go down quietly. He would activate his Legacy of the Uzumaki, his bangs hiding the symbol that formed on his forehead. At the same time, one of the three Nero appeared behind Hato with a blow aimed at the woman’s neck. Fortunately for Hato, this happened to be less than a meter to Masashi's left. Masashi would reach out and touch Cero with his hand, which had started glowing blue, and would absorb whatever chakra he could from the Nero, hoping that it would either render the shinobi unconscious or would cause the Nero beside him to dissipate should it be a clone. With that done, he would move closer to Hato. “I need some medical attention if I’m to be of any use in this fight.” He would say quickly to her, holding the clay projectiles in his hand to throw at any of their opponents should they try to interfere.

After the genjutsu cleared and Hayate had juked out of the way of the path of nonexistant attacks he surely thought would have come while he was vulnerable, Hayate had prepared to all out assault Hato. Instead, he looked only to find her felled by an image of nero, her body going limp and eyes rolling back as she crumpled to the floor in front of the other Kiri genin before that image *poofed* into smoke.

Damn, Nero had gotten one down before him. Hayate's eyes turned to the remaining opponent, and a growing patch of dark, deep red was spreading up the boys shirt and down his pants from the point of the shuriken impact. His own strike hadn't been hard enough, it seemed. The damage looked severe, but there was a resolve in the Hoshi ninja's eyes that told Hayate he wouldn't be felled by just this.

Just how far did this Hoshi ninja's resolve go, anyway? How far did any ninjas resolve go? Could this one make the hard choices?

Hayate reached into his leg pouch and pulled a kunai with an explosive tag tied to the hilt. He did this quite clearly and out in the open. His eyes never left the determined steel eyes of Masashi, watching carefully while being very deliberate. Hayate could feel his straining, boosted muscles and sped up metabolism, combined with the adrenaline of battle, fighting against the slow movements like wild horses pulling in vain against a tightly secured lead. Still, he gently ignited the tag with his chakra, and then almost casually threw the kunai in a precise motion, at a blistering 180 speed.

Its aim was not at the man.

With Hatos earlier dodge, there was less then a meter between her crumpled form and Masashi, separated only by the disappearing whisp of smoke that was a clone of nero moments before. The Kunai would land directly half way between masashi and that teammate that he most likely didn't even know, tag still burning.

Even with the Hoshi Ninja's injury, he could almost certainly get out of the tag's radius... if he wanted to leave the unconscious Hato to her fate.

Masashi's blood was pouring everywhere. Most people would have died from a blow like that. "Impressive." Nero thought. He threw the 2 kunai in his left hand towards Masashi, one aimed straight to his chest, the other a meter to his right (Nero's left).

As soon as the tagged Kunai flew low, it seemed Masashi knew what was up.  He could see the tip wasn't pointed at him as it whistled through the air.  Hayate watched, impartial, passive, as the wounded genin suddenly surged toward his downed teammate faster than he had ever moved before, despite the injury.  More blood flowed, but he didn't see to care.  Instead he lifted Hato's arm to over his shoulder and formed the ram seal as multiple kunai sped towards him, taking longer to cover the 20m distance that it took him to move the 1m and hoist the girl.  The projectiles speed made it a contest, but he formed the ram seal just as they were closing within about a meter and a half.  

Hayate triggered the explosion, but the expanding fireball found no flesh, only after images, as the opposing pair, one unconcious and the other bleeding out, appeared one row back out in the stands from the body flicker.  The nearby spectators recoiled in surprise, as if they hadn't noticed a foul ball that suddenly smacked against the seat next to them, only this was two full ninjas.

A loud whistle blew and jounin and medics rushed to the aid of the pair in the stands, leaving the kiri duo in the center of the arena.  A loud declaration of "Ring Out!" could be heard above the surprised murmur and gasps of the crowd, amplified to be clear and definitive.

So he had chosen her life over the mission at hand, no matter how bleak the success chance looked.  It was certainly a strategy, to survive and try again when the odds were low.... but it just cemented in Hayate's mind how and why Kiri continued to express dominance, both on the world stage and in exams.

With a small sigh, he shook his head and turned to walk back the way they had entered.

Nero didn't react. He let his clone vanish, grabbing the scythe the clone left behind; then leaving with his friend. "So it's you and me... Fitting." he said as he did.
