PostSubject: Yanoda   Sun Aug 12, 2018 4:18 pm

Basic Information

Age: 13
Birthday: October 12
Gender: Male
Height: 5'4
Weight:  105lbs

Yanoda is a young man of roughly average height and slim build, with fair skin. His hair is blonde, and styled into a low ponytail that reaches his mid-back. Mossy green eyes peer through his unruly bangs, and a belt of freckles cross the bridge of his nose, giving him a somewhat boyish appearance. He habitually wears a sly grin that gives him a mischievous flair.
Yanoda's wardrobe is fairly simple and functional, consisting of loose wide-sleeved shirts with overly long sleeves that cover his hands, and a variety of traditional shinobi lowerwear in muted grays and blues. Yanoda prefers to conceal his weaponry and ninja tools within the sleeves and hidden folds of his shirt, but will occasionally carry a standard pouch on his person if he runs out of space.

Yanoda is, at first glance, a fairly straightforward person. He believes strongly in the virtues of kindness, and appears to practice what he preaches. He treats everyone with courtesy and compassion. However, beneath the surface-level optimism lies a deeply conflicted person. Yanoda has a hard time reconciling his idealistic nature with the grim realities of his job, and sometimes adopts a forced, ruthless persona in dangerous situations as a coping tactic. This internal conflict has taken somewhat of a toll on his mental health, but he fights to maintain a positive outlook despite it all. Other than his conflicted nature, Yanoda is noted for his keen analytical mind: Though poor at academics, he is talented in reading people and situations. He is mellow and easy to get along with, but some people find his cheery disposition a little creepy.
Yanoda's fighting style is a pretty orthodox combination of weaponry and ninjutsu skills. He performs best at mid-range, keeping his distance with thrown weapons and evasion tactics while he analyzes his opponent's strategies and abilities before moving in. Generally, he prefers fighting on the defense, only risking aggressive tactics once he finds an opening to exploit.

Yanoda's life story isn't very remarkable. He wasn't born into a ninja family, his parents own a restaurant in Konoha. His childhood was happy and peaceful, and he spent most of his time helping his parents in the kitchens, far removed from the troubles and strife of the world. This cozy little world was where Yanoda first learned to handle a blade, not as a tool of war, but one for feeding people. His parents were kind people, often offering free meals to those who couldn't afford to eat. Yanoda admired his parents, but even more he admired the shinobi that occasionally came to eat. He saw them as heroes; to Yanoda, the coolest you could possibly be was to be a ninja protecting the village. It didn't take long before he had his mind set on entering the Academy. His parents were not initially enthusiastic about the idea. Convincing them was a multi-step process, but eventually Yanoda managed to win them over after they realized he wasn't going to drop the issue any time soon.

Yanoda threw himself into his studies early on in his education at the Academy, working doubly hard to overcome his academic weaknesses. He's no star pupil, but Yanoda's dogged efforts have earned him good marks at the Academy, impressing his instructors with his work ethic and dedication. One area of weakness he has yet to overcome, however, is making friends. He is kind to everybody, but has had a hard time really connecting with any of his classmates. This has led to Yanoda being liked, but more often forgotten. As a result, Yanoda focuses mostly on his studies, and the delicate political situation of the world drives him to graduate as quickly as he can, lest he be unable to help the next time something happens.

Rainy weather, the color blue, sunrises, sweet foods, physical exercise, alone time, cooking for people, giving gifts.
Aggressive people, unnecessary conflict, spicy foods, studying, large crowds.

A glimpse of a possible future... Dawn in the Land of Fire. A breeze whistled through the trees of the great forest as the first rays of sun began to breach the twilight. This was Yanoda's favorite time; silence reigned, and he felt profoundly alone with his thoughts. Yanoda felt that he could be free from his worries as he watched the world change color, as the muted grays of the pre-dawn began to be replaced with the vibrant colors of daytime. It was almost meditative, he mused to himself. He could still smell the remnants of last night's fire, the last embers still dutifully smouldering on, ready to be relit at any time. Yanoda decided that he could relate to them, those pinpricks of heat in a landscape of cold ashes. Just as they would roar back to life in a few hours to cook the morning's breakfast, the calm of Yanoda's dawn would eventually be dispelled. He would cease to be Yanoda, the boy watching the sunrise. He would go back to being Yanoda, the shinobi. An observer, a killer, a protector of the peace. The thought filled him with mingled excitement and dread. Yanoda's half-closed eyes wandered up to the brightening sky as he contemplated his place. It wasn't as if he hated being a ninja; it had been his dream since he was very young. He had always seen the shinobi as great protectors of the village, the people who kept him and his family safe. And it was true, to a point. But he began to wonder if he ever would have tried to become one, had he known the burden a ninja carries. The blood that stains the hands of every shinobi, shed in defense of the village sure, but blood shed nevertheless. How many people would he have to kill, Yanoda wondered? He had resigned himself to it already, but the time had not yet come. It seemed like every mission brought him closer to the first life he would have to end. The anticipation was torturous, some nights he could hardly sleep knowing that the next day might be the day he would finally have to stain his hands forever. Yanoda could only hope it would be quick. Suddenly, the creaking of wood invaded the silence. "Yanoda," a voice said from below, and Yanoda looked down from his perch upon a tree-branch to find the source. It was the Captain, removing the wagon from its hiding-place. "We're going." he said in an almost lecturing tone. The Captain thought Yanoda spent too much time daydreaming. Maybe he was right. "Coming." Yanoda murmured, just loud enough to be heard over the deafening silence.

Daylight had fully bloomed over the land as the little caravan made its way down the dirt forest path. A trio of wagons bumped and jostled over the uneven ground. Nearby, a watchful squad of Leaf shinobi observed its passage from the concealment of the trees. This was their charge, a shipment of vital materiel whose nature even they weren't privy to. The man driving the wagon train was their Captain, the most experienced among them by far, and an accomplished shinobi. The trip had been uneventful so far, but that only put them all even more on edge. This shipment was supposed to be secret, but nothing stays hidden in the world of shinobi for long. Discovering secrets is, after all, their job. Even so, it came as somewhat of a surprise when the Captain suddenly slumped over in his seat with eight shuriken in his back. The ambush had been perfectly executed, Yanoda's first indication that anything was even wrong was the thudding sounds of the rest of his squad falling from their treetop hiding-places. He was lucky, or maybe he was just quicker than the rest, it wasn't clear. Either way, Yanoda saw the attack coming just in time and swung himself under the branch he was perched upon just as a flurry of shuriken embedded themselves in the bark. Yanoda used the momentum to fling himself from the tree and landed lightly atop the caravan, quickly taking in the scene around him. Three... no, four enemies. He was outnumbered, and as the enemy approached from out of the treeline, Yanoda felt himself gripped with the full realization that he was alone. He almost started to ask who they were, but as he looked at the four shinobi, identifying marks carefully hidden, he knew there was no point. This wasn't a conversation, it was a battle. He felt his face pull itself into a smile, despite himself. This was just habit however, it was plain to see that the emotion didn't reach his eyes. He was suddenly cold inside, meticulously calculating his chances. Four enemies. If they're smart, they'll all attack at once. But if I can survive that initial rush... There was no more time to think. The enemies advanced, brandishing swords. Yanoda ducked a swipe from behind, extracting a kunai from his sleeve to toss at the next-nearest enemy. It was deflected with a clang, but that slowed down his attacker enough for Yanoda to dodge the third enemy's strike and catch the fourth with a swift rising kick to the chin. As the strike connected, the enemy was replaced with a puff of white smoke. Shadow clones. Close combat isn't my forte, I need to make some distance. Time for a distraction. While the enemy was still off-balance from Yanoda's counterattack, he palmed a smoke bomb and threw it at his feet, escaping into the billowing purple fog. His attackers followed him into the smoke, intent on keeping the pressure on, but failed to notice that he had already retreated to the trees outside the fog's radius. Explosives are out of the question, I can't risk damaging the cargo. Guess I'll have to do this the hard way. With a few subtle motions, he manipulated the hidden mechanism strapped to his back. With a click-click-click both ends of a kusarigama dropped from each of his sleeves, kama and iron weight dangling freely from their fine chains. Taking the iron ball and chain in hand, Yanoda intently watched the dark shapes moving in the smoke. He waited for the perfect moment... and then one of the shapes burst through the smoke. Now! he thought, and twirled the iron weight a few times before letting it fly towards the revealed enemy. Unprepared for the sudden attack, the enemy watched helplessly as the chain wrapped around his sword-arm, immobilizing it. Yanoda was on him in a flash, leaping from above with kama in hand to strike the helpless ninja. The blade carved a deep gouge into the enemy's shoulder, but instead of the spray of blood he had been hoping for, Yanoda was greeted with a faceful of smoke. Another clone, damn! he had time to think, before the remaining two enemies caught on to his ruse. Barreling out of the smoke, one of them caught Yanoda with a punch to the gut, while the other one lined up a swing to slice Yanoda's head off. With a desperate twist, Yanoda dodged the strike and leapt backwards. He had dropped his kama behind one of the enemies, and took the opportunity to yank the chain back, propelling the kama into the back of one of the enemies. He disappeared into a cloud of white smoke like the other clones, leaving only Yanoda and the original. Yanoda, with a few movements of his shoulders, made the chains of his kusarigama retract back into his sleeves, and faced the last ninja with a smirk. "It's over." he murmured, turning away. The ninja prepared to attack with his sword, but was suddenly impeded when Yanoda pulled a hidden wire and the enemy was bound tight with metal wire. "It was when you punched me. You lingered just a second too long to let your clone line up his strike. Now..." Yanoda said, approaching with a cold look in his eyes as he removed a kunai from his sleeve, and held it to the bound enemy's throat. "Please don't make me kill you."

Hello and welcome to the site! I'll be your mod for today.

I really like what you have here so far, but let's expand on some things, namely your history. It's pretty short, so let's work in another large paragraph or two. Konoha was recently invaded by Kirigakure. There was one death, a Konoha shinobi. The chuunin exams in Konoha also recently wrapped up, Kiri making up the final round and winning overall. What's your thoughts on them?

Also, add some more likes and dislikes, and remove weapon from your spec. You'll get this after graduating to genin.
