Leave My Kidneys Alone [Open] Empty Leave My Kidneys Alone [Open]

Tue Jun 05, 2018 4:48 am
Kay was the new gal in town, others might have lived here for weeks, months, years, decades, etc etc longer than she has, and quite frankly she needed to broaden her horizons a bit more. So far, she had only met Komori, the devilishly handsome jounin who had fought for her freedom and won, granting her a new life in the process of the Kumogakure Black Games. Now she was a student enrolled at Hakai’s academy, having only met fellow classmate Ikigai and the headmaster Hakai. They were nice, naturally, and Kay felt as though she would meet her other classmates through the academy, seeing much of them as she did so. However, she decided to wander into town in order to see what was going on and get a general lay of the land. If anyone felt the need to approach her and her ever growing chakra signature, they should feel free for any reason, whether it be for conversing, training, teaching, or sparring, although she would not be able to do much if anything at all at her current level. But that’s why she had decided to stay in Kumogakure. To better herself.

Kay would currently be standing in the area of the marketplace known for its multiple food vendors. Despite Kumo’s rather poor image to the outside world, the village itself was nice inside, and the food was delicious. The smol blonde could be seen stuffing her face with this aforementioned delicious food.

Max had been walking through the marketplace looking for something good to eat when he found what looked to be another new person. These people were just popping up out of nowhere, and her chakra signature was incredibly high to be fresh out of the academy. Hmm. Still, that just meant yet another person Max could end up meeting, training, and possibly befriending. Hopefully she was friendly.

He had a chocolate bar on him and would move over towards the young lady. "Uhm... Hi. I'm Max." He would say, his tone coming out much different than even he was accustomed to. He was right next to her and would note that she smelled faintly of... the forest and trees. Was it the scent of... pine? A strange smell in this decaying land. "Might I ask your name miss? I've not met you before." The boy didn't know why, but something about this girl was odd. Something both familiar but nothing like he had ever encountered. He would break off a piece of chocolate and eat it, waiting for a reply from the young lady.

He would look very much like he did any other time, his hair messy and his clothes loose. His headband would be around his neck, dangling like a necklace instead of up on his forehead.

Kay gave a surprised look towards the newcomer, cheeks stuffed with food; despite her expectations she did not fully expect someone else to come by, and so soon at that. And who else would it be except maybe the only other blond kiddo in the entire village. Is this kid… smelling me? Two can play at that game. The girl would then breathe in the air nonchalantly, smelling a faint putrid scent that nearly caused her to recoil, but she kept her composure; she was unfamiliar with the scent of death, at least for now. Kay would then finish swallowing her latest bite of many, when the boy asked a follow up question. Max, huh? She brushed her somewhat crumb covered hands on her pants, where one would notice a genin headband strapped around her right thigh, before flashing a large grin. “I’m Tohsaka. Komorebi Tohsaka.” She extended her hand towards him in greeting.

“Call me Kay,” she would say casually before continuing. “So, Max,” she said, her eyes fixed on the headband necklace. “You must be a shinobi, right?” she would ask with a smile, which could even be heard in her voice. “What’s your specialty?” This was of course meant as a casual question, meant to ask what he brings to the imaginary Kumo table as opposed to a direct inquiry.

Max would accept the extended hand, placing his own small hand to hers and shaking it lightly. She seemed pleasant enough, and he noticed that she was indeed a shinobi. How is her chakra so large, yet he had never encountered her before? Max didn't know everyone in Kumo, but other than maybe a couple of people he was at least on friendly terms with most of the village shinobi. Komorebi? That was  eerily close to the name of his pal Komori. It even literally sounds like Komori Bee in his head.

Kay? Okay, that at least isn't as close to his friend name and will make it easier to stand out in the boys mind. "Nice to meet you, Kay!" Max would say, his voice clearly beaming with joy and a positive attitude and a big smile on his face. "And yeah, I'm a shinobi. I'm the most skilled puppeteer in Kumogakure. I also am quite adept at the Medical Ninjutsu Arts, though I am still learning more each day in that field." He would ponder for a moment, "I know a little bit of everything, though I cannot say that anything else would count as my specialties. As a Yamaguchi Clan member my first and foremost specialty is puppetry, though."

He would then return with some questions of his own. "So how long have you been in Kumo? And since you are a shinobi I assume you have a specialty, too?" He would ask, breaking off another piece of his treat before looking around to see what he would have as his main course.

Leave My Kidneys Alone [Open] Empty Re: Leave My Kidneys Alone [Open]

Komorebi is a beautiful name that translates to Sunlight Filtering Through the Leaves of Trees, but alas it was too similar to a famous shinobi of Kumogakure, so the girl had resigned herself to being called Kay. It was a name she wished to make her own. “Skilled at puppetry… that’s a thing?” Her face turned a bright shade of red as she realized that she had said that out loud instead of just thinking it, as she had done with so many things up until this point. “M-medical jutsu is very admirable!” she would exclaim with a nervous smile, trying to save face.

Trying to put that moment behind her, depending on how Max reacted of course, Kay would continue, “Yamaguchi? I’m not sure if I’ve heard of your clan before.” This time she made sure to think to herself, An entire clan of puppet users? I wonder if they can even fight for themselves? She kept these thoughts to herself, as she did not want to potentially insult the young and kind boy, but the notion of puppetry did not really appeal to her at all. Kay had yet to be in a real fight of any sort, but she had an idealistic notion that she would be one to jump into the fray.

Kay did not necessarily expect to be hit with a barrage of questions directed at her, but still tried to answer to the best of her ability. “I’ve only been here for about a week or so now. I used to live-” in a mansion as a slave, she thought, “-outside the village, but still in lightning country. I was recently… inspired to pursue the life of a kunoichi for myself, although I’m still pretty new to this sort of thing,” she would say with a slight hint of regret that she did not start sooner. “I haven’t really done much yet,” she said, hesitating for a moment as she recalled the Black Games. How Komori and his impressive arsenal of jutsu had defeated an opponent who seemed pretty strong herself, but he ended the match with a massive water dragon. How visually appealing combat could be and how powerful one could become. “I believe I have decided on trying to study ninjutsu for now, but I’m actually a student at Hakai’s academy, so I’ll be taking on some weaponry training on the side.” She rubbed the back of her head absentmindedly. She had expected that she would need to put in some hard work, but the path to becoming a strong kunoichi was a long and arduous one. That was when the seed of an idea planted itself within her mind, causing her eyes to light up. “You said you know a little bit of everything, right?” Her passion for learning always managed to find a way to present itself. “Would you mind possibly teaching me a few things?” If there was one thing Kay was always down for, it was learning as much as she possibly could in a manner of enjoying her recently found freedom.

Leave My Kidneys Alone [Open] Empty Re: Leave My Kidneys Alone [Open]

Max gives the most baffled look he had ever given someone up to that point when Kay said that she didn’t know that Puppetry was a thing. How does one not know of the art of puppetry, something that has been known throughout the ages as one of the most impressive and intricate styles of combat known in the shinobi lands (if you ask Max at least) with famous and infamous puppeteers throughout history. How could she not know this?

Max would look at her, understand that she was a shinobi and still be completely confused. Is she just… an airhead? Probably skated by on her impressive chakra reserves and skills without learning as much as she probably should have. Yeah, that was it. Max would simply allow himself to believe this, true or not, to avoid his own mind having difficulty wrapping around what he could have easily perceived as an insult.

Not hearing of the Yamaguchi clan was fair game though, as they were a Kumo Clan and she was not from around here. Max would find that she was from Lightning Country, but that was a rather large landmass and his clan was a small one. “Ah, well that explains a lot. What made you decide to pick up the life of a kunoichi? It isn’t an easy life to lead."

Hakai’s academy? Well, that place was known for its harsh training and skilled graduates. If she were training there, she would surely develop into a capable shinobi… or fail trying to do so. Max would finish his chocolate bar and then find the pretzel stand and buy several, some with cheese filling, and some with cinnamon swirls and sugar. They were delicious and he wanted all of them, so he bought everything the vendor had in stock and put them all in bags, separating the flavors.

Max would take a huge bite out of a cheese filled pretzel before accepting her request to train. “Yeah, I could teach you some stuff possibly. What do you want to learn?”

Maybe because puppetry is lame

In the defense of the inexperienced girl, the only basic jutsu she had in her arsenal she had taught herself whilst growing up as an indentured servant to her abusive father, so she did not have a chance to actively study the shinobi arts, particularly more obscure ones such as puppetry. Next time she is forced into slavery by an abusive parent, she would be sure to study up on puppets since they were just so fascinating.

She smiled faintly to herself when Max asked his question, her right hand held over her heart. She found herself staring into space as it were, not really looking at anything as her gaze was lowered. “Someone dear to me risked his life to give me a chance at my own.” Her hand clenched itself into a fist, her eyes focusing on a new target. “I feel like it’s my fate to prove that he made the right decision in doing so.” She now looked at Max with a fire in her eyes. “I can make my life my own now. And I’ll never be able to repay him for that.”

She clasped her hands together with her palms touching. “Just some lower ranked jutsu would be awesome.” Since Max had stated that he was not a ninjutsu specialist, she did not bother to ask if he knew any of the techniques she had her eye on, but maybe the boy could teach her a slew of D and E ranks in order to make her lack of an arsenal a bit more diverse.

Leave My Kidneys Alone [Open] Empty Re: Leave My Kidneys Alone [Open]

Max couldn’t explain why, but he felt an odd vibe from this one. Like they were… harassing his favorite pastime in their head… odd.

“You really admire this person don’t you? Who was it?” Max would ask, wondering who it was he owed this meeting of a new face to. “Giving someone a new chance at life is always the right choice, regardless if the opportunity is squandered or not.” Max would say, hoping to relieve some of the burden that must be on her from the pressure to prove herself in the eyes of another. “You only need to meet your own expectations, not anyone else’s. You shouldn’t feel obligated to do something because of the actions of another.” It was almost funny, Max saying all this yet his own shinobi career has had but one goal, one objective to reach at any cost. And it was completely due to the actions of another…

“Lower ranked jutsu, huh? Okay, that should be simple enough, though with the amount of power behind your chakra you could probably learn any technique you wanted.” With a chakra network as densely powerful as hers she had to be much stronger than she was letting on. “Do you know how to use Storage Displacement? It is incredibly handy to carry a bunch of stuff without weighing you down. I can also show you how to use the Temporary Paralysis Jutsu. It is a pretty useful move, as is the Body Flicker technique. If any of those sound good I can show you, though I’d rather not do so here. We could head over to the training grounds to avoid others distracting or getting caught in the jutsu’s path.” Max wasn’t about to use the jutsus here and now, as he wouldn’t put the citizens of Kumo in harm’s way without a good reason.

Leave My Kidneys Alone [Open] Empty Re: Leave My Kidneys Alone [Open]

“That person is… Komori Hozuki.” The girl kept her face of determination as she did so, asserting his name with a sort of pride. Kay was rather proud that she was able to draw inspiration from one of the more popular shinobi in the village, as well as the shinobi world at that. Komori certainly had a bit of a legacy to him, which would always carry on as long as he lived in the minds of people.  It was almost liked he lived inside of other people’s minds rent free, especially those that hated him and what he had done for Kumogakure. Making Kumo the best village in the world and all.

But that was not what Kay was about. Tohsaka would always be grateful to him for setting her down this path, but she did not want to always live in his shadow. The girl had found a new home, new friends, and all that was left was to find her definitive reason for being. Something to justify her own existence. For now, she was searching for this reason at Hakai’s academy, training in weaponry there while developing her own ninjutsu in her free time, or when she met someone such as right now. She had come to terms with realizing that she was one of the weakest members of the village, as she had no sort of arsenal of jutsu for every situation nor did she have any experience. Heck, she had never even been in a fight before. Perhaps that would be for another time, however, for now she listened to what Max had to say.

Her eyes would light up with each and every jutsu name that Max stated. It would probably be impossible for her eyes to seem even bigger or shine even brighter than what they were doing now. “Of course!” She smiled broadly. “Lead the way.” It was sort of weird to be taught by a boy who was younger than she was, but there was a glint in his eyes. Something that showed her and everyone who looked at him that he was wiser than he appeared. That he had experienced pain, loss, and regret. That although his life was brief, it was full of tragedy.

Komori? Man that guy seemed to have some sort of odd hand in most things happening in the village. He WAS a Jounin and all, but Max was impressed with just how much he seemed to do for the village. He even managed to find this interesting specimen and bring it back to Kumo to bolster our ranks. “Yeah, Komori’s pretty cool. Did he show you his body yet?” Max would say this, referring to his Hozuki Hydro form of course. “I like the twins, though Komon seems to be just a smidge cooler.”

Max would head towards the training grounds and begin his lesson. At first he moved fairly quickly, assuming that someone with as powerful a chakra signature as her own would be able to keep up. When he noticed that she was lagging a bit behind he decided it would be best to keep at her pace and allow himself to see what all she was capable of.

It wouldn’t be too long before they both arrived at the training grounds. The area was pretty much empty at the moment, which would be great since there would be nobody to distract the young lady from learning.

"Alright, so the first thing I am going to teach you is the Storage Displacement jutsu. It should greatly help someone like yourself.” He would note that she had about the same muscle mass as one of his skeletal puppets… none. “There are only two hand seals to form, the Rat and then the Dog” Max would say, demonstrating slowly to make sure she can witness them and go from there. “Now, it’s a bit odd to think of, but when you focus your chakra I’d like you to try and focus on making an object disappear. Clearly picture the carried object in your mind and then imagine it being placed inside a portal of some sort. Maybe a window, or a door.” Trying to explain how to do this was incredibly hard since it was such a weird concept. Hopefully she would pick it up quickly, as Max wasn’t sure he could explain it much better than that. “The object should vanish in a flash of particles.”

Max would wait and see how she did with this one. If she couldn’t grasp it, he would simply move on to another technique and go from there.
