The calling of another day and another time brought xuba from his usual stroll in he morning. Having sat down quietly in a small breakfast diner and quietly ate the meal in a unusually silent diner. It was the crack of dawn as the waiter poured him a third glass of orange juice. The orange contents slowly drained from his glass over the course of his meal as he flicked through a simple mission given to him. The job was to merely keep a close eye out for the rise of the ever increasingly contact between the shinobi and the preists. The land was different from whence he was a childhood.

Xuba glanced out the window as he took a sip of the juice.  He noted the shadows thinning as the sun rose from behind the shack slowly. The memories of a childhood both of torture, yet the pride of the country burned somewhere within him. Thus as he knew it the country was no longer the same kingdom as he knew it as a child. The sight of shinobi running around and about was both acceptable, but unnerving. The world was changing faster then he could afford, Yetr he lacked the power to alter fate and stop the wheel. He was once but a little boy, and now he is but nothing but a man that has seen many things.

Xuba leaned back his chair as he glanced over the mission details. The thought fresh in his mind that it called for at least an simple resolution to the seemingly on going rift. The shinobi as he knew and civilians were simply one and the same. They each bled and eventually perished via sickness, bloodshed, or the occasional old age. Something that took time for the generation to fully understand. As many of the shinobi of their high stature seemed but naught kids. Hardly tested in mettle nor grit. Yet they were like all youth. They held and blind ambition to their ways. Neither flame, nor rain would take away a youth’s flame. The question was always now. How long would they exist.

The thought was accompanied by the very existence of the fact that on a scale. The civilians lead by the religion faction. The very pinnacle of the faith was the idea, and even believe there was a higher power guiding to a higher purpose. Being a hoshi born citizen xuba took religion as a quiet oath to stay true to home. So he too understood the plight of the civilians and to an extent the preists. The very face of normal men and whatever occurred beyond the veil of life. Yet with so many religions. The answers were unclear. Just like the creeds of the shinobi a man’s belief was many things. Their belief would change and flow through life if unsteady,  but their personal relations to it were beyond another individuals ability to judge.

To dialate and compromise was a challenging concept to tackle for an individual. As it took a strong understanding of both sides, and where one would  stand amid such a challenge. Yet xuba quietly sipped his juice in thought. As opposed to many he took his time and relaxed. Most kids were impulsive, but being an adult He took a rational stance. After all he has seen a lot, and understood a lot more. The clashing dynamics all dancing through his mind as this was delicate process. So he had to take this from the beginning, and simplify how such an unusual social position it was to handle stuff.

One of his secret pass times before fleeing the land was to watch the knights pass by. It was perhaps a dream of his as a child to done the shiny armor and hoist the flag over the heads. While riding his own horse. The fleeting memories of the child never die. Sometimes they innately stick. Perhaps warped by the reality one accepts or otherwise see’s and experiences. As a man xuba consistently kept this in mind. This job was a simple task, but it was clear that by the sake of the mission This was not some dull fight, but merely the more interesting interpersonal encounter. It also showed him how little most shinobi understood priesthood, and how little preists understood shinobihood. Where both creeds held A piece of the pie.  Of countless opportunity. The latter was the fear of natural civilians.

Religion. The very central point of the general population of hoshi was simply a fixation that a nation built from its roots was to follow a monarchy yet in its greatest fault lies the weakness that clashed amid religions and their shortcomings. It never eased up with the arrival of shinobi and the showing of chakra. The works of nature and the laws and decree of their saviors and faithful paths. The men and women finding their children out of curiosity saw the accomplishments of a man running on tree’s and breathing fire were easier to match, and even accomplish through practice and dedication. Then arriving at a place for a couple hours out the day and pray without a boy not hearing a word for even their own life.

The wanderings of the man brought him into the masses of the various crowds of people. The weary and worn shop keepers, the tanners and blacksmiths Even the pages in the numbers despite their eyes having long since only seen but parchment. Rested and brimming with the determination of those that reported to A post as if second nature. The city was known to house many religions of various types. Which in it’s self was a good thing As holy wars over a town was all but pointless. The oaisis amid the desert like haven country was in itself a testament to the religions that their own god(s) were looking out for them. They all even amid the disagreements coexist as their own entities. Besides they all united in a sense of the men of faith and cloak.

The water gardens housed a few of the more tranquil churches. Well seeing as this was the case till the shaky tensions have risen. The very foundations of the tranquil gardens was a place of wonder and respite. Normally neutral, but with the  times. The shinobi amid ruthlessness were but the very thing that drove most preists mad. In time it was the victim of many insults thrown from both sides of the asiel and hence was like a kettle. At the ready to pop. Xuba slipped into one of the  churches dressed with white pants and a dark shirt of genuine color. However he sat quietly in the back lounging back comfortably in the seat as he spotted the shadows of several figures in the rafters. Although he was not the only one who noticed the other shinobi.

The bloodshot eyes of a priest from fear, uncertaincey and the value of their life and all their values they protected to both vocal and even written doctrine were challenged. Thus the many sparks of men that fell into a version cloak by day and protest at the drop of a kunai and the shadows flashing across their door steps. These worried eyes xuba watched as he observed both shinobi and preist alike. In light of his own exploits he understood the cling to faith fully, Unlike many shinobi in the village he was one that was around the day and age of hoshi prior to the shinobi inclusion. The man left when he was but a child but he recalled. The fact that the preists struggled against the oncoming storm of the ones who work in shadows.

The ninja’s were merely there to protect against other shinobi. Although they would sever throats and stain the very innocent blood of others in the blood of enemies. Thus change a military into the stealthy  and quick force of a shinobi alliance. Yet xuba returned and hence subtly observed the surely peaceful desert land destabilize quietly.  The arguing between shinobi and native preists willing to stand on either side of the aisle over right and even a hunger for land. It ws apparent in the various preists. They had the heats of many, traders, crafts men, masons, the likes which even village markets had a hand in the trusty peace of the loosed doors of the various faiths. The hopeful gleam of holy holidays still warm. As the promises of goodness and prosperity would be the alling of many that had a hard week or an ailing child.

It was something that shinobi understood, yet they merely kept to a way of taboo. Thankfully xuba was one that never truly showed off. He was quiet. Observing both the voice and eyes of the speakers on either side. The occasional scat would form for the thing that many shinobi understood was the reaction of fear. The fear of oppression to the unknown forces and the power shinobi weild on the daily like second nature. The fear of change, as the shinobi numbers grow steadily. The academy and it’s seemingly ever swelling numbers. The children even found among the common men and women, adults, adoleents. They trained and hence grew with the power of chakra. Men and women changing eyes as it was whispered. This xuba assured many were a hallucination of the mind to the few he nudged. To keep the preists from catching a full wind of such things.

Then there was the deepest fears alive inside the faithful. If all they knew was merely a lie. If the world was merely less then what they belived, and hence was faith truly a thought. Given power by the beliefe, but remained a true illusion to the mind and soul beyond the grave. The dream that if believed long enough. At the end the dream merely becomes an reality of the mind. This was the hidden fear. The unknown fear that was once known. Then it was deep fried and turned into the lies. Although the hand in hand truth was that those that are yelled at the most were often what one feared the most. The imperfection of humans alike only spoke the truth when it is seen that even the righteous in their own self-worth bleed the same red as those that were wronged. With his grey eyes xuba closed them quietly as he sat in the back. A few ninja curious on faith and what the man  was saying and participating was the best way to learn.

Yet the priest was eyeing the shinobi while xuba leaned back quietly basking in the sputtering word of the man. His faith seemed to have been tested. Or at least contested as the scent of the beads of sweat forming from pent up stress and the slightest twitches of the corners of his mouth showing. All apparent to xuba as he listened. The man at least for a man of natural creation. Held fast as he lead on with the daily prayers and the congregation continued on. The stifling indifference was amusing, but not shocking to xuba. As he quietly observed the whole thing as it was. It was nothing too far, but the obvious sighns of discontent were apparent to xuba.

The shinobi that were there excluding xuba were there for close to the same reason. As there were  several of them it was not an alarming reason, but to the preist in question it was an eve r growing annoyance. For the shinobi came out of curiosity. Their eyes taking in the the man as either easy prey, or flat out observing how it was possible to have such an captivating audience. Their ears were soaking in the word of the man droning over the text. Yet the attempt of them trying to understand and adapt their own beliefs were understood by the patrons of the church as the few that  showed curiosity muttered a few prayers of faith over the shinobi that seemed to wish to at least listen. The look of discontent on the priest’s face caused a flush of red in frustration to momentarily appear as he cleared his throat.  His eyes darting to the ramparts above as the man in a split second pause spotted the motionless shadows occasionally yawning out of disrespect. These were the few  there out of the mere boredom of down time between missions. Easily noted as a few were dozing off from the sermon of the man, or otherwise kicking back on the ramparts.

The clear sign of disrespect from the few that were steadily losing interest.  Xuba sighed inwardly. They only were there to at the most kill the boredom. As for himself his problem lay with the clashing forces. Commonly the men of the faith and cloak had an outburst. As it was seen the man before him was one of the larger ranters of this seemingly passive aggressive approach. As  it was a church amid the water gardens a solid  location of tranquility has of late been riled with the priests ever foretelling demise of a shinobi’s soul, or otherwise simply the accusations of shinobi being unable to be saved.  This was bothersome to xuba to say the least so he simply took the task.  At hand. However this was not the crux of the disruptions that were occurring in the area.

Whereas the sermon was decent to xuba. The ones that got paid a bit more put more effort behid their works, and he preferred examples from their own life to show the people that the power above was hard at work.  This was sort lived as all went silent.  there was a problem. There was an ever increasing commotion outdoors as the doors creaked open the voices of a few became a few more. Apparently there was the lingering tension, but the voices filled the hall and before he knew it the pooling of several men of clergy were all spluttering mad as they barked accusations. Of bewildering depths and obscurity. The men glanced up at the rafters spotting the shinobi, whom had their eyes on them as the doors opend. The men gazed up as the

Xubas eyes however scanned the room as the shinobi from above finally feeling the pass time of the sermon drawing on to them was merely the latter of the fun. The men in cloak simply sprawled bac k as he noted the pointed yells and the clear shouting and pointing. The head preist  had joined in as the shinobi out of disrespect listened and simply shrugged. The men had not only in their eyes bardged in with a sense of righteousness, but the assumption that for the bad of the business of the church goers. Their response was as expected.

“without us you men would be doing underhand deals to keep us in stow for assassins. We di this for almost free. Should be grateful that your family and children are not targets.”

One shinobi said with a thick accent. It was clear he was a foreigner. The accent, hair, and garb as he held the hoshi headband which gleamed in the candle light under the noses of the priests. The man’s build was of the most unique as his understanding of the men were in a sense clarified that he was willing to learn to a certain degree. Then there was a burley shginobi of heavy build that out of both making a point and showing his powers he struck a hole through one of the wooden benches.
“When we serve and offer our servicews. Even from your own military. We still came to protect… I guess a few less persists will not upset the gods. It will most definitely make this quick. Like a twig being crushed to fine powder.
The preiists however were hard in their own ways. Locked like a cage. Their opinion seemingly higher then others at times. Their eyes like steel did not buldge from the shinobi as they gritted their teeth and clenched their fists out of both steadiness and to hold themselves.

“weakness of the cloak.”

A shifty shinobi spoke from behind the burly ninja. He carried a pack of gum and chewed it carefully making sure to take his time as he spoke.

“you claim your faith protects you. Yet you have no proof. You claim… that you are speaking their truth,. Meanwhile we shinobi. Night and day take poison darts for your priests. If anything we should be herald as your saviors. Your saving graces.”

The priests simply glared as  they made it clear. The tension was slowly rising then out sputtered a voice. Shrill voice of a priest. Their resolve was tested, and hence  they were shaken. Nothing has rattled their faith despite thje accounted for act of the shinobi. Still even xuba was impressed as he listened quietly to the situation as the shinobi and priests headed out the chapel. He followed suit as he sat on the steps observing the event going on.

“arrogant, disrespectful, unholy, un worthy! My faith stronger then your show of balck magic, lies and deception the works of sin and the unholy blood running through your veins. No god shall accept you not even the lesser gods below my faith!”

A grisly haired with strains missing. He smelled fresh of incense yet his eyes clear and faith on full fury. Xuba then heard the booming voice of a preist amid a laugher roar of laugher at the grisely haired preist. He glanced amused at the man as one a burly fellow of cloak spoke. Xuba would’ve passed him off as a escaped prisoner, or a convict of some kind at the most, otherwise the man may have passed for a bouncer of some kind. This caused xuba to for a split second to question if the faith of men were strong enough to change such a man. Yet the large man spoke.

“He is right you shinobi. Our village hands and minds stained. Once we were just a kingdom. Fighting among each other’s faith. Yet we throw our differences aside and yet wish to tackle and through our gods and our religion of pure fate squash you. The heinous crimes you present to our gods. Leaving us to wonder when your blades shall slit our throats. You have no right speaking as the fact you break and harm children even. For the sake of a life, a piece of parchment, “

The words of the man caused an flush of a hush as the shinobi went silent their eyes holding an dangerous gleam in their eyes as there was there was a sense of true danger,. Which xuba sensed and simply sighed aloud as he stood up and spoke quietly.

“Religion, and shinobi, both are a different set of rule’s and set in different times. As a man of clergy you should know well that the wars enacted on the behaf of your beliefs went against the very peace that you wish to strive for. The rivers of blood and tears and despair given on behaf of the blades of knights are no different then the people being stabbed to keep you speaking each and every day. Be glad and at peace that these men did not nor will not cause harm to you nor your families.”

Xuba stated as the  priest that was granting the congression a sermon rushed out the door and spoke having found his voice again.

“They have no right here! They have soiled our land an-“

The man began but xuba spoke up cutting him off. The fact that fuel being thrown into the argument was pointless as he could see that the man was willing to spin this conversation into something much more knowingly or unknowingly that was just a sign of danger to the ones holding the lethal weapons.

“They once more protect you. Yes faith holds a foot hold, but these people, and children give their lives for you and the villagers each day. Just like you preach the word each day for hope, and belief that there is something, someone greater. There is a reason beyond us. That we do not die and decend to the depths. That we up hold moral and our ethics as well as our codes. To think you preach of peace and prosperity and yet you do not show it through your words and actions. Is an insult to the very books that you read from, and the faith you up hold. Your hands are hence no more dirtied and bloody in the eyes of your creator, then theirs. In fact it may be even dirtier. “

The man fuming had a loss of words as he tried to come up with a rebuttal and the priests fumed too as they too tried. Yet in front of the church the words were as true as possible. This was the rough truth, and thus the trap that could cut the conversation to a halt. Still xuba continued on as he rounded on the shinobi. The lack of respect was far more then what was nessary. Still they deemed to be noticed yet their words and actions

“These people are why you wear that headband, where knights cannot go we go. We fight the shadows that darer to engulf our home. So you are right with protecting them. But decency with our learning of our own religions and being one with our people are the way to go. Learn to respect their belief and share it. Don’t you dare ever turn on your own of the village that will serve and grant both food, housing, and repair as well as herbs for medicine? You went on missions only to return home and have a blade repaired, by people of both faith and belief. Your food prepared at ramen shops, the very appliances and scrolls for and the. Even our desks and academy, were worked with in part with and at the expense of the non-shinobi. They deserve respect of not only our own, but the respect that all people deserve.”

The shinobi relaxed for a moment as they thought on xubas words. And xuba smiled a bit as he took a breath and spoke up once more as both parties were in the thought. Anger had a way to blind a individual and also stuff a conversation to a stop. Using this time xuba simply tossed an suiggestion into the stillness that arose.

“My suggestion to all parties available is to be open. You preists should open late night, your faith will grow by offering to the wounded of our own. That take blades for your cause, one less blade pointed for you on our cause. Visit the hospital and offer prayer on our wounded, and harmed. Shinobi. Why not grant them the decency to sit among them like I do. Stop the crime and leave a thank you note to the preists from keeping our village from going full lawlessness. These are the way’s to stop the tremors of instability in our home. Our greatest enemy is not someone outside, but when our own will not work with us and instead desert us. This will include both clergy men and the villagers behind them. If I am honest it would deem the point of hosting a large economic system to fall before you know it. The comforts of your lives may as well be challenged.”

Xuba stated as he turned tail and spoke once more to the group. Heading back inside the chapel.

“if anything we should keep going now right. Unless the few shinobi have something better to do then mutter under their breath we should all simply embrace the word and allow this farce to pass by. One less argument. Leads to one less conflivct. We are human so we should co exist despite differences or opinions. It is all we have besides faith to hold on to. Let us at least end this on a positive note.”

Xuba stated as the shinobi after a moment of thought standing next to where he originally sat. Then he decided to sit in the spot where the burly shinobi broke part of the bench. He smiled knowing he had scored a point. The persists still in a gawk simply sat down as the older man sat back for a moment and returned to the head of the room and continued speaking. This time the shinobi now payed close attention as the man spoke. Still annoyed but not as much. The three other men of the clergy continued to stand there still flustered but spoke. His word clearly. The disruptive shinobi even amid their frustration took a moment and realized their own actions and reactions to mere words were the cause of it all.

The service continued and ended as xuba finished strumming through his discovery of the cuase and how he resolved the close to deadly fight that would’ve been the death of three preists. But the question still remained as he turned in his mission work of the day to the mission office. Why was there a lack of flexibility of the shinobi and the priests? Easily a question well open for debate in the far future.
