Jai Huángjīnjiā

Basic Information

Age: 16
Birthday: June 17
Gender: Male
Appearance:

Browned by the goddess of the sun herself, Jai is chocolate child of the Mist whose natural complexion provides some protection against the harsh environments the world over. The boy stands just a shade under six feet tall and will surely grow more as he has just begun to hit his growth spurts. While one may think that living in such a humid and drab place wouldn't provide much in terms of excess food, he has found a way to pack on an impressive one hundred and seventy pounds that has left him with a build that is stocky as it is long. Dark brown eyes look out into the world and are covered by a pair of black, square rimmed glasses that have a strap running across the back to prevent them from falling off. Jai's hairstyle is an odd mixture of faded sides and short dreads on the top of his head; the aforementioned sides having multiple 'row cuts' cut into them.

Living in such a drab and humid environment requires that attire be both practical for a shinobi whilst also being able to properly shield inhabitants from the elements that also call the island home. Beige short pants run to about mid-shin where and are held up by a similarly colored, thick cotton belt. A tan short sleeve shirt is worn over the torso and is accented by light blue flames on each of the sleeves. A pair of black shinobi sandals cover the boy's feet while his hitae-ate is worn across his forehead. Jai keeps his munitions pouch on his back left side while his kunai pouch is taped to his right leg.

Personality:

Jai is a very expressive and jovial individual. He enjoys adventure and experience. He still enjoys a good jug of sake above all else. When he speaks his words are coated with confidence on such a high level it can be easily be seen as cockiness. He refuses let anyone talk down on him and is always quick with a sarcastic comeback or snarky retort. He is perfectly content with being alone as he no longer trusts those around him. His overall outlook on life has become rather grimm. Knowing what kind of a life a ninja is fated to live, he doesn't show much mercy or pity and is rather vindictive against his  enemies and those who have wronged him. That being said he is one to hold a grudge.

Combat wise, Jai aims to obliterate his opponent. As he has no teammates and fellow ninja to keep alive and well, he simply fights for himself thus if he has to fight, he always fights to kill, and is never the one to keep a dangerous opponent alive. He rather fight up close than take on the ranged option.  He is extremely offensive and enjoys using his hands and weapons to fight with. During a heated battle where stealth is not needed, he belittles his opponents.

Jai is no longer a " solider of justice." He honestly couldn't give less fucks about being good. He is a mercenary for before anything now. He performs the task  given to him whether it's good or bad and since he gets paid, he has no problem doing it. When it comes to his superiors, he treats them like any other person, though using the proper honorifics when it comes to them. Jai can't stand when someone is overly optimistic about life and he is quick to tell those people to " Shut the fuck up ".

Overall Jai is your average shinobi who has been hardened in his life of being betrayed and stepped over. He does what he wants because "fuck you he's a ninja". Though taking out orders in mission, he is only loyal to the person who lined his pockets, hell his loyalty only goes to those who he feels like giving it too. Jai won't lie to anyone and is openly honest, not really having time for bullshit. He usually just tells it how it is.

History:

To believe that every story starts out roughly the same is to belittle the importance of chance. Not only that, but it belittles the impact that a person can have on their own beginnings. This is certainly the case for Jai, someone who was born of a brothel woman and a rather shady client of her's. Neither of them were in any position to be or wishes to take on the responsibility of being a parent, financially or otherwise, and soon the young Jai found himself being taken care of by one of the village elders  of Kirigakure that would have treated him in a way that would have spoiled many kids.

By the age of four, however, Jai had already determined that he wasn't going to be like the 'parent' that had taken care of him his entire life. He wasn't going to be like the 'parents' that he had been told that had spawned him into the world. He didn't care for riches, and he didn't care for the type of life that his birth parents had. Even at a young age, he knew that he would have to be the one that worked hard to make sure that his name was considered a good one.

From the age of five, even through the academy years from six to eight, Jai spent most of his free time studying the things that he thought mattered. Soon he became an eloquent speaker, somebody who could hold a conversation with many people much older than himself, despite his age. Around half-way through the academy, he also started to study physical combat. This was because of the fact that he began to see it as an honorable way of fighting, and because of this fact, he began running every day which helped in that pursuit. Soon he wasn't even spending time with anyone, not even his adoptive father, all of his time spent making sure that he was what he considered 'good enough'. By the time the tests were done, and Jai was a genin, he was beyond the average in the use of physical combat. The only thing that was wrong was the fact that he was barely average in any other area, even though he had been told quite a few times that he could have been a prodigy when it came to ninjutsu or genjutsu. He had made the choice, and it was something that would help shape his life.

The genin team that he was placed on was an average one. That wasn't to say that they were average when it came to teamwork, merely that each of them were overall average in skill. Teamwork came slow to them, especially Jai, who had spent most of his time alone. As the years passed, and soon enough he was thirteen, they had all learned the value of teamwork. They had even helped each other out, Jai learning and teaching actual techniques with the help of the entire team. That added to the hard work that they all went through, the many missions that they had succeeded, all of which helped buy him books about the different styles of combat. Learning from books, with the occasional help from his other teammates, was something that he would never forget. It wasn't completely one sided, however, as Jai was able to help his team overcome their fears that they weren't cut out for the lifestyle. It was also a boost to himself, the inklings of a lost social life emerging strong with another year of missions.

A general cheer fell over the entire team, the night soon spent celebrating the good fortune. Jai and his allies were commended on their hard work. It wasn't until the next day that they were told of the bad side of their commendation, and that was that there would be more missions for them to do. It also meant that they had to take their roles as 'protectors of the village' more seriously, more trust meant more work. Each of them took it differently, Jai  stating that he needed to know more about the village he was protecting. Almost immediately, one of the team members started to call off statistics about the village. The number of people, the gender, the number of shinobi, anything that could be put in number form was soon spilled out.

That wasn't what Jai had meant, however, knowing that it was essential for him to know more than just the base information. He needed to know the people he was protecting. To that end, he began to spend more time, time that wasn't spent on missions, talking to the people around the village. He even opted for lower paying missions, ones that could have been done by students, to get to know the burdens of the common people. One years of his life went by this way, Jai finally starting to understand the village that he had sworn to protect. Along the way, he had also created his own style of fighting, something that he formed after his immense amount of studying about the other forms of combat, based around three techniques. That weren't as important as getting to know the village, however, which was why he had created so few.

"Protector of the Village" was a title he took seriously, though, so he soon found himself scouting the borders of the country that he loved. Three months at a time, those were the 'tours' that he gave himself, almost a fourth of the next year spent doing that very thing. It was on one of these 'tours', around the age of fifteen, that he and his teammates ran into somebody that attacked them immediately. This man was no pushover, either, killing both his comrades and almost killing Jai before he could react. Thrown on the defense, he started to do the same thing he always did in a fight. He waited, watched, calculated, he tried his best to figure out what his opponent would do through his style. Even when he was able to do that, however, that didn't take into account the knife that he man had. A strike came for him, barely dodged, but it gave Jai enough time. With that, he started to take the offensive, being able to break the man's wrist before finally ending the fight with a neck-shattering kick. Jai was resigned to die there that day, glad that it had been in the service of his village, the kunai having hit a few marks before he was able to properly defend himself. So Jai simply laid there thinking he would die

If it hadn't been for the fact that a few genin were being sent on scouting mission, he definitely would have perished. Much to their surprise, when they found him and the victims of the battle, Jai seemed almost happy as he lay there dying. This was what he knew he was meant to do. But sadly, he was saved. Jai wished to die honorably there but this wish was taken away by med-nin and his village. This mission also effectively harmed Jai mentally. After this he decided that he would no longer be willing to one day die for his village but that  he would have to become perfect so that he could protect himself and his own interests  forever and it became hard for him to get past this obsession. This obsession with death led him to an obsession to experimentation, focusing on how to kill others and keep himself alive.

Through this Jai has become quite detached and now the focuses on becoming more powerful.

As the road travelled south away from temple and mountain, lured towards the misty plains  for which this country was famed, temperatures rose from ice and chill to mild heat and watery skies. Jai remembered the look of this place, though could recall the color of it all in dream that was unlike to match reality. Green was prominent enough, blossoming up from grey granite crags that stood so sharp and angular that they were like brittle, shattered towers, veritable exoduses of them ascending each tall slope, and camping out in every valley, like pitfalls for deities.

Wind whispered through their peaks and bases, images the shimmered on the brink of perception, eventually becoming clearer and clearer as the small dews of mist individually attended them. Jai had to patiently wait, but he wasn't patient. The mist take everything away, he remembered being told. That phrase had stung at first, but eventually it had rung again as relief, and with the relief a sense of eternity that stripped away all haste-thinking. This mission to protect a covertly caravan a caravan through these plains was dangerous enough without someone acting like the boy didn't have to be hasty.

He stood atop one of the branches of a nearby tree, hidden by the leaves, at their heads; and, when sufficient resolution was granted to him, sprung precisely from one apex to the next, touching down as bodily as a feather. Then, the process began anew. This way, the young man breached the divide from one edifice to another, in stead of ribboning back and forth across the forest brush. One might have interpreted this as hurry, but they would be mistaken.

As the second-to-last leap was to be made, Jai had to pause, his black crown tilting toward the earth. Voices came to him on the breeze, their detail ambiguous, but their tones pristine: authoritative first, affrighted second. The fist balling up at the end of his wrist whispered in the language of its weight. Jai sprung again.

Words streamed in like colored lights. Images swept into consciousness like moving sculptures. Men standing, others kneeling. A horse whinnied in panic, standing off to the side in front of its duty... a large vehicle... wooden. Five men standing, four kneeling, one clasped facing the others as though he were a guilty man, yet the guilty plainly stood as his captors. Singing softly in the breeze, the edge of a blade sat against the owner of the caravan's throat. One amongst the subordinate cluster had the curvature of a female. Heartbeats thudded softly in chests, yet with a hurry. Tension pulled taut over the scene.

The afternoon sun couldn't peered with modest heat at all the portions of Jai's flesh that was exposed; his shadow dimly cast upon the scene, tall from his lofty peak. This sight must have been seen by one, for his head whooshed around in the young shinobi's direction, his once-stoic form developing heedfully.

"Boss?" he alerted, uncertainty placing further strain on the voice of a minion. Other heads went up.

"Hey! Who the hell are you?" Barked the predator, dragging his gasping captive with him when he twisted around. The subtlest snipping and trickle bespoke an unintentional slicing of flesh and of the subsequent droplet that dribbled down the victim's neck. Blades hissed at being woken, moved to incline upward at the newcomer.

"Gentlemen... stay your arms", ordered Jai subtly from his now visible position.

"What!?" barked the aggressor angrily, uncomprehending; perhaps he hadn't heard.

"Drop your weapons, or give up and run off before I kill you."

"Fucking what?! Tch. How's

Steel raked against flesh, mercilessly splitting it. Droplets and waves thundered off the earth; the man collapsed, a shrill cry erupting from the female present.

Jai lips parted in turbulent regret, but the feeling passed. A black-gloved palm arose to his side.

"Have it your way."

Her fist rasped free, as he Body Flickered directly down before the Leader of the Bandits, releasing a neck shattering punch which twisted the man's head almost 180 degree. As he fell dead his minions looked on in awe, turning tail and running away not long afterwards. These were no shinobi simply men who had chosen the wrong path.

After the dust settled, Jai kneeled down to check on the caravan owner. Harmed but he would live. It didn't matter much to Jai as the caravan medic came to dress his wounds. The young ninja's duty was to protect the owner's daughter not the owner but death was minimal and they were almost to their destination.

The day was good.

Good afternoon Jai! I'll be looking this over for you.

Sadly, everyone's first character on the site has to start as an Academy Student, and even if you did have another character your choice in using a limited clan would require it either way. As such you'll have to edit your history accordingly since you wouldn't be able to become a genin yet.

In regards to said history please make up a village name. It doesn't have to really exist but in character but generally with tensions so high between main villages and such a simple academy student (Or even genin for future reference) wouldn't be able to successfully escape.

As an Academy Student you won't have a specialty to start with, that get's given at genin.

Do remember that when you edit in the above rank and changes you will only start with 30 stats instead of the 60 Smile

Finally, your roleplay sample has to one of a few pre-selected scenarios which I will denote below.

A group of civilian children have been kidnapped. Either role play rescuing them and taking care of the abductor or abducting said children and holding them for ransom.

-A guarded caravan is forced to stop due to a broken wheel in a territory famous for rogue ninja activity. Role play either guarding the contents of the caravan against bandits or role play the bandit leading the attack on the caravan.

-Sometimes ninja defect a village. Role play either defecting a village to embark on the path of a Missing Ninja or role play the loyal village ninja that stops him/her.

Do not use actual village names in your sample as this might interfere with already existing site canon.

Please make the above edits and I'll give it another look my friend, and welcome to our site Smile

Hola, brother, thanks for the insight. I'll change my shinobi to Clanless. Hopefully that frees me up to start as a Genin. Working on the new RP Sample.

Have you been on the site before? If not that is going to force you to start as an Academy Student either way.

Also it's only LIMITED clans that force you to start as an Academy student, there are in fact a whole slew of clans you can in fact choose and still start as a genin as long as you have in fact been here before.

Yes sir. I had a character of the same name before on this very same profile. And that will work. I'll look through some and make sure to bump the profile when I'm done.
