A lesson in Taijutsu Empty A lesson in Taijutsu

Mon Feb 27, 2017 11:23 pm
Sakana Meijin was on his way to this class he had heard about. It all started yesterday after he had woken up and wanted to learn some new techniques but he was unsure what he wanted to learn. So instead of training right away he decided he wanted to walk around the village to clear his mind and maybe figure out what he wanted to learn while he was on his walk. So that morning after Sakana had gotten out of bed, got dressed with his usual attire, and eaten breakfast he headed out on the town. He walked across the cobblestone path that he had begun to hate because it hurt his feet when he had to walk on it.

Sakana’s walk was very peaceful as no one really bothered him. All he was doing was clearing his head and thinking about life stuff. Sakana was starting to use missions given to him by kumo as his sole source of outcome. This was good in the short term but all he could do as a gennin was simple grunt missions for citizens around the village. He knew he was doing his duty as a ninja but it was getting really really boring and he knew he needed a change of scenery. He had talked with Komon before and Komon had talked about forming a ninja squad and Sakana would be included on it. The was cool for Sakana because he would be able to go on real missions where he would be able to fight his opponents instead of rescuing cats for an old fat lady.

This also got Sakana thinking about his ninja journey. He was only still a gennin. He knew that chuunin came with a bunch of perks he would love to have because they would make his boring life a lot more interesting. He knew that chuunin’s were allows to try and train for their second elemental affinity but this would not happen for Sakana as his ninja bloodline, the Meijin Curse, only allowed him to ever have water style. He had come to terms with this a long time ago so that was not what he was looking forward to. Sakana was looking forward to having more freedom around the village, once he became a chuunin the people who told him what to do, like Komon, would have to treat him as an equal instead of a student who could not handle himself.

But the main thing Sakana was looking forward to was learning a new specialty, when he was granted the rank of gennin Sakana had decided to pursue ninjutsu. Once he would become a chuunin he would be allowed to pick another specialty to learn. The problem being that he had no clue what he wanted to learn, but as Sakana was walking by the ninja information board a flyer caught his eye. There was a bunch if flyers up about specialty information training sessions. There was a flyer for every specialty and they all basically said the same thing. They all  stated that you should get familiar with all the specialties before you made a decision on what one to learn. So Sakana looked though the specialties and decided that he was going to learn about Taijutsu, he was interested on the way that Taijutsu used physical strength and speed instead on relying on chakra for all your techniques. So Sakana saw that the class would take place at the training ground tomorrow so he would show up there to take the course.

Sakana continued his walk for the rest of that day. He kind of just had a chill day because he did not know what techniques to learn and he was going to learn a few the next day he hoped. So Sakana went home, took on some extra deliveries for Kaigo, and then went to sleep when he was tired.

So the next day when Sakana arrived he was surprised to see a bunch of gennin waiting in line to attend the meeting. This gave him some comfort as he was not the only one who did not know what he wanted to do once he reached chuunin. So once Sakana walked inside the building he was greeted by the sight of the lesson that was about to start. The instructor started off by explaining that taijutsu was different than the other specialties because it uses your speed and strength instead of chakra for power. He said he would be showing the young gennin a few E rank techniques today.  He called one of the gennin to the front of the room. The gennin was terrified and Sakana could not blame him. The instructor looked to be about fifty years old but his age could not be seen as a weakness, this dude looked buff and serious. So Sakana wanted to watch what would happen during the demonstration.

The teacher said, “So young gennin, the first thing you all need to learn is discipline. I assume most of you showed up today expecting to see an easy class with a bunch of flashy moves to entice you to learn taijutsu, am I correct?” The poor boy in front of the teacher nodded his head and said he had seen his brother do some really cool jumping kicks before.  What happened next shocked the whole class, the instructor had just backhanded the kid. The Kids face melted, and he fell to the ground crying. “Taijutsu is not for the weak, it is for the strong and motivated. So anyone was is afraid of getting hit needs to leave because Taijutsu is a close ranged fighting style and you would have to learn to take lots of hits.” And with this declamation half of the class had just left.

Sakana was not going to leave instead he listened to the teacher lecture a bit more until they moved on to the next technique.   Finally the instructor brought out a bunch of practice dummies for the kids to practice the next move on. He explained that the most essential defense in taijutsu was a simple inside outside block. He demonstrated this block by putting his hand to his ear and bringing it in front of him. “This technique may seem dumb and simple but I assure you that if you can’t perform this technique  you will never be able to learn more complex taijutsu techniques. So Sakana and all of the other remaining gennin started practicing the block in front of the dummy who they all pretended was an enemy ninja. Sakana had begun to realize that this was a class for children and not something that would benefit him. But he decided to stay and stick with it because he was learning stuff and he did need some practice. But something happened that no one in the room could have predicted. One of the gennin got tired of doing the inside outside block so he took it upon himself to started hitting the dummy as he tried to show off for his classmates. The green haired kid could not have ever imagined in his life was was going to happen as a result of that. The instructor stood behind the boy and Sakana noticed he was making a tiger hand sign. After he had finished the tiger hand sign he shouted he “One hundred years of death,” at this point everyone feared for that poor child’s life. That technique sounded like the kid was about to die or worse be  sent to the hospital for the rest of his days. But Sakana was not fooled there was no way the instructor would ever do any lasting damage to a child, and Sakana’s suspicions were affirmed when the instructor placed his fingers into the kids butt and made him fly across the room. After everyone had realized what happened they started to laugh at the embarrassed gennin who had just been humiliated in front of everyone.

But after the instructor explained that there was to be no one nonsense everyone went back to practicing. Sakana practiced that stupid inside outside block for over an hour until the class was let out. Once the class was out Sakana though he had pretty much mastered the inside outside block but he was not doe training so he decided to sit around at the training ground in order to try and replicate the discipline and one hundred years of death techniques that the taijutsu expert had done to two poor gennin. It was not as fun practicing on dummies but Sakana knew he would get in trouble for hurting the children who called themselves gennin. He knew he was the most experienced in the room but he did not let it go to his head, so as the class started to flush out of the training grounds Sakana would end up spending the next few hourse messing around and refining the techniques he had just learned.
